Friendly Fill-Ins

Here we are on a Friday yet again – ready to fill in some blanks as provided by our two wonderful co-hosts, 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs.   I linked the badge above to 15andmeowing so you can go there and get in on the fun if you want to.     By now you know that each of our co-hosts gives us TWO sentences with blanks and we just do the filling in.   Easy huh?   Well the FUN comes when you read what everyone else has written.   You learn stuff about people you THOUGHT you already knew very well!!!

Here are this week’s sentences with “holes” !!    I’m letting my Mom do all of the filling in this week.   A little extra gift from me to her for the holiday.   Aren’t I generous??   Her fill-ins are BLUE.

1. Every Christmas, I make a mince meat pie because my Dad used to say it’s not Christmas without it – luckily I love mincemeat pie.
2. The day after Christmas, I always (seriously) have a turkey sandwich for breakfast – my own personal tradition!
3. ‘Twas the night before Christmas, and I admit that I’m always a little excited for Christmas morning – I make my Dad’s famous sausage gravy and biscuits then David, Teddy and I have our Christmas together.
4. All I want for Christmas is LOVE – of course I could have said “world peace” but I want that EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Since this is the last Fill-in before Christmas, may I just wish all of you a HAPPY HOLIDAY?????????????????   I hope you’ve been good enough this year to get a visit from Santa Claus.  I know I have….not so sure about Mom and Dad but I have!   HAHAHA

  3. I LOVE after Christmas turkey sandwiches! For me, just a very thin covering of butter on the bread, salt and pepper..clap the two bread pieces together and eat. Sometimes I will even put a spoonful of cranberry sauce, the whole berry kind down in a dish, to have with it.

    • Oh boy! I sometimes put a bit of stuffing in there too but I’m with you on the butter, salt and pepper……cranberry sauce is also nice. Gosh now I’m DYING for a turkey sandwich!!! HAHAHA 🙂 🙂 🙂

  7. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I bet the biscuits and gravy are really good. I am sad I don’t have to make a mince meat pie this year. I used to make one every year for Gerry, but he is the only one that liked it so no point in making it. Have a wonderful weekend. My Sammy will see Teddy at The North Pole ;:) XO

    • Sausage gravy and biscuits was what my Dad ALWAYS made for the family Christmas morning. One of my favorite memories as a child. The other thing he made that I haven’t had since those days was “mush” (cornmeal cooked up and put in a meatloaf pan in the refrig then fried up next morning with maple syrup on!).

      Memories are great…….

    • The mincemeat I use comes in a jar from Crosse and Blackwell and they have one delicious mincemeat recipe I can tell you. You just make your own pastry (or use a frozen pie shell) and dump in the jar and that’s it! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO incredible!

  15. I have heard of mincemeat pie but never had one. A turkey sandwich sounds like a good tradition. Have a Merry, Jesus Filled Christmas.

    • IT’s very yummy my Mom says…..it’s difficult to find it in a store though. Mom was lucky as they carried it in the British section of the grocery until this year. It’s in a jar and she’d make a nice pastry and pop in the mincemeat – EASY PEASY…..this year we may have to forego our tradition.

      MERRY CHRISTMAS and lots of happy moments filled with “the reason for the season”!

  17. Mom says she hasn’t had mince meat pie since she was in college. Her Dad loved a slice of that pie, and her Mom would always make him one for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hmmm, maybe she needs to make again soon.

    • Hi CK! It’s my Mom’s most favorite breakfast for after Christmas or Thanksgiving when she makes turkey. She’s a little nutso but I love her – besides, turkey is pretty darn yum!

  20. I’m sorry I’m so late to comment. Teddy, you are just so sweet for letting your mom fill in these fill-ins. You know, I have never had mincemeat pie, yet I have always wanted to try it. I’ve always thought they look so delicious, and also so very festive. I hope your Christmas season is merry and bright!

    • Hello! It’s a busy time of year – we are behind visiting blogs too!!! So much to do!! Mincemeat is a little “strong” for a lot of people. My Mom got to know it through her Dad who LOVED it even though he ate no other desserts ever! It’s a highly heady and strong mix of raisins, sultanas, citrus, spices – very “different”…..but my Mom loves it. Try it one day – you will either adore it or HATE it.
