Greetings Loyal Subjects! Your King has taken over the Castle kitchen yet again to bring you another FAB Christmas recipe!!!
Today it’s going to be an appetizer…………perfect for when your company arrives but Christmas dinner isn’t QUITE ready to put on the table yet. Just be careful they don’t eat so much of this that they are too full to have the MAIN EVENT! You may have to remove this after 15 or 20 minutes out on the buffet table for your guests! No foolin’ !
Bacon-Cheddar Dip
This is another one of those “easy to make” recipes too………when you’re busy in the kitchen making a big Christmas dinner for everyone you can just put this out and let everyone help themselves with crackers, chips, or crusty crostini – make it the night before and let it come to room temp the morning of your get-together…………
Ingredients
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 5 green onions, thinly sliced
- 4 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 large green pepper, chopped
- 1 jar (16 ounces) taco sauce
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 pound sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
- Tortilla or nacho tortilla chips (or something else you might like!)
EASY-PEASY!
Well everyone I bet you already have your holiday meals planned right? If you’re still looking for a few “what do I feed these people before the main even???” ideas, this is a good one.
Oh, yes please!

That sounds good – and easy! Of course, my human would use turkey bacon, but I bet it is good that way too.

Yes – it wouldn’t make any difference – it’s just a garnish in this recipe anyway – the “goodness” is in the dip!

It really is delicious…..we like it on tortilla chips but it’s good just eating it with a spoon (hahahahaha). That Iris has gotta go! I read online that they scream because (wait for it…….) they are AFRAID OF FLYING!!!! Well, gee. Now that’s different isn’t it?!?! A bird that’s afraid to fly. Well, maybe you and Jerry should get Iris her own drone she can hop on and get a ride out of Venetia permanently???? Just an idea!!!!!!

Really? Afraid of flying??? I’m going to have to check that out. I will say when they come in for a landing at the glorified pond it isn’t always pretty. We have multiple Iris but the one that screams out front of the Casa… I know that is IRIS! Yesterday was so bad that I thought about ringing her neck… just briefly. The Ibis are still brown which means they are juveniles, so maybe there is something to the fear of flying. In three years, if Iris survives, she will be all white! I am going to try to get night pictures tonight of Venetia entrances and some of the houses. If she doesn’t stop screaming we are going to strap her to a rocket and send her your way… Hahaha! I mean, we should share!

Something tells me Iris wouldn’t like 19 degree weather but then that would solve the problem for BOTH OF US!!! HAHAHAHAHA (just kidding). Wonder how they taste? Might be an interesting Christmas dinner choice. “Gosh that turkey sure smells good in the oven” “Uh…..well Honey…..it….uh…..well…..isn’t QUITE a turkey…..it’s more EXOTIC than turkey……..!”
You know we live just outside of Washington, DC in “protected air space” so the Air Force would shoot her down if you guys sent her here in a rocket………….just sayin………….

This sounds easy and delicious! Not to mention a fine suggestion for using tomatoes and onions…. I trusted my hubby to go to the fruit stand and he tends to over-buy, so I really, really needed suggestions for tomatoes and onions.
Merry Christmas!

Teddy, we bet our dad could eat an entire pan of that all by himself. Santa, would probably prefer a glass of bourbon with his bacon. Maybe he’d like some of this bacon/maple cookies that Mau serves at Cat Scouts. Those would go great with milk. That sounds tasty! I don’t think sour cream is widely available here, but I think I read somewhere that plain Greek yoghurt is a good substitute.
