Pre-Tease Monday

Happy New Year’s Eve Morning (or something like that anyway!)

We hope your Christmas was wonderful and that you’ve been stuffing yourselves with leftovers and candy and all kinds of things that will add about 20 lbs. to your weight so that you can make a New Year’s Resolution that you won’t keep – – – – TO LOSE WEIGHT!    HAHA    Our Mom goes through that one every single year.   She asks Santa for GODIVA and gets it then bemoans the fact that she (voluntarily mind you!) eats it all and becomes roly-poly.    Well, I tell her it’s just more of her to love!!!

Now back to the business at hand.  Tomorrow will be New Years Day………..the beginning of 2019.    Some of you may not even have been to BED yet when you see the photo but you must persevere!    You must give it the old Ding Dong try!

I hear snoring from the back of the room.    Too much partying.    It catches up to us.

Before we do our Rules and show you the New Years Badges we have on offer tomorrow, we have been mulling over the possibility of not having classes on Mondays anymore.   Everyone knows about Teaser Tuesday – and we will continue with that no matter what, but maybe we don’t NEED a “prep class” on Monday?    We can post the rules and badges on the Tuesday Teaser post before we show the photo.    Whatcha think????    We will do whatever you all want.

Just tell us what you think about Pre-Tease Monday and we’ll keep it or not depending on YOU!

So here’s the rules you all know so well for guessing tomorrow’s photo location…………!

AND – here are the badges you could win if you are sharp as a tack tomorrow when we show you the Teaser photo!!!

Cheer Team?   Do you have a New Year’s Eve cheer for the students????   I know you have some big hot tub party to host tonight but thanks for squeezing out some time to cheer on the students!

Scooby Doo
Happy New Year’s Eve to you!
We’re getting ready to party with our buddies
And all of YOU have to stay up late and STUDY!
You’d better stay home and get some rest
For students like you, that’s really the best!
No hangovers for you because you all are so GOOD
While we get crazy and have fireworks in the ‘hood!

Well team the idea is to cheer everyone up not depress them but hey – you’re distracted I’m sure because you’re excited about tonight’s festivities.   Well Happy New Year Cheer Team and remember YOU HAVE TO BE HERE IN THE MORNING TOO!

WHICH REMINDS ME – remember tomorrow’s Teaser post will be at a random surprise time – NOT the normal blog time!

I’m already tired just thinking about tomorrow!

We’ll drink to that!  But then we’ll drink to anything!

OK class – let’s head to the cafeteria for lunch.   Miss Dingleberry is still not back from her – er – um – ultimate makeover.

Hello Students……me again…..your Swedish Substitute Chef!   Please enjoy your lunch!

Sunday Selfie

Time for the last Hop of the year!    Kitties Blue (The Cat On My Head) has hosted this wonderful Hop for another whole year and we’re all about to start another year of showing ourselves off every Sunday.    If you’d like to join in the last 2018 Selfie, just pop on over to their blog by clicking the badge above and GO FOR IT.

Mom was trying like crazy to capture me in a photo with my new scarf and one of my hats she’s not been able to get me to wear since I received them but did I cooperate?   No.   Did she actually try to sneak me into them when I was at my most vulnerable?  (meaning when I’m waiting at the front door ready to go outside because she’s told me she’s taking me!)   YES!    I just screeched “no fair Mom!” so she took me outside on my harness instead.    SO that means instead of a new photo of me in some finery, I’m just ME.    And not only that but its’ a flashback ME………….from this time LAST year.   I suppose it’s better than nothing right?

So this was my Selfie from LAST YEAR at this same time………..just before we turned the calendar page into the first month of a new year.     For me – another year of loving my forever home……..for you?   Whatever you want it to be.    Just make it the BEST year ever OK?

Would you like to do a puzzle of me?   Click the MINI-ME below and you can!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!   Love, Teddy Angel Sammy, and Mom too

Bakin’ In Baconia for New Years!

So you survived Christmas but how about New Year’s Eve or Day or all those football games?

That’s right – you are going to need to make PLENTY of snacks/appetizers for any of these occasions coming up and we are BACK to bacon-themes and I’ve got a doozy for you.  It’s also an EASY DOOZY.   Especially if you are like my Mom (the Royal Mom of course) and enjoy using your crockpot to cook up yummy stuff while you’re cleaning the house for guests or setting a table or WHATEVER you need to do!    This snack will be ready to go.

Slow Cooker Bacon Cheeseburger Dip

8 oz. bacon (or more of course if you are a bacon nut like we are)

1-8 oz. package cream cheese cut into cubes

1/2 lb. ground beef

8 oz. shredded cheddar/Monterey jack cheese blend (Mom gets this particular mix in a package at the grocery BUT you can always whack up your OWN combination of cheeses if you don’t like cheddar/Monterey jack).

2 tablespoons parsley (optional – adds nice color though)

1 -10 oz. can diced tomato with green chili peppers (Ro-Tel is the one Mom buys)

  1. Place the bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Remove bacon to a plate lined with paper towels, reserving drippings in the skillet.
  2. Break ground beef into the skillet; cook and stir until completely browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain beef, return skillet to stove, and reduce heat to low.
  3. Stir diced tomatoes with green chile peppers, cream cheese, and shredded Cheddar-Monterey Jack cheese blend into ground beef. Crumble bacon and stir most of it, reserving a few teaspoons for garnish, into beef mixture; cook and stir until cheese begins to melt, 2 to 3 minutes; transfer to a slow cooker.
  4. Cook in slow cooker on Low until hot and bubbly, 2 to 3 hours. Stir parsley into the dip. Garnish with reserved bacon. Keep in the slow cooker set to Low to serve.

You can serve this with just about anything – those scoop tortilla chips are good – so is thinly sliced bagette or crostinis.   It’s a “loose” dip – the scoops are the easiest.

This stuff is really delicious.   You can double it if you have a lot of people coming over or they are the type who can eat buckets of appetizers while talking, watching football, partying, watching a movie, etc.

So – we here at Castle Baconia will be having a New Year’s Celebration.    No fireworks though.   We are NOT big on fireworks.   Especially your King – I am not a fan.   But I will enjoy my Mom and Dad having their traditional bottle of bubbly between them to toast and bring in the New Year.   Twenty nineteen……..good grief…….time does fly doesn’t it?

A fun flashback photo – our original King of Baconia – Sammy along with yours truly your current King of Baconia, Teddy!!

Long Live Baconia…….

Friendly Fill-Ins

Hello and Happy Post-Christmas Friday!    We’re well on our way to the beginning of a brand new year too.   How weird does that sound – 2019 – good grief… Mom says just thinking about 2019 makes her feel OLD(er).

So no doubt you all know by now what Friendly Fill-Ins are all about right?   Each week our co-hosts, Four-Legged Furballs and 15andmeowing give us two sentences each with blanks and we just fill in the blanks!   Easy?   Yep – it is easy and it’s fun too.   If you click the badge above you can join in that fun – just fill out the LINKY FORM and you can join in with your fill-ins.

Here are this week’s sentences and Mom and I both did blanks this time.   My fill-ins are BLUE and hers are GREEN!

1. On New Year’s Eve, I hope the fireworks are ABSENT – I don’t like that noise!

2. A goal that I have for 2019 is exercise more, eat less, enjoy my life as much as possible.
3. If I had to choose a guide word for 2019, it would be PEACE – yes, even us animals hope for it.
4. New beginnings are important – I try to make every single morning a new beginning.
OK Mom – we did it!   We filled in for the LAST time in 2018!    We’re a good fill-in team aren’t we.    We are also glad our co-hosts have this great Friday activity because it’s lots of fun and lets us express ourselves to the WORLD (well – maybe not the whole world but everyone who follows this HOP!).
A big thank you to our friends Miss Ellen from 15andMeowing and Miss Lorianne from Four-Legged Furballs for hosting a fun “getting to know you” Hop every week.
AND Mom, Dad and I wish all of you a VERY VERY PAWSOME and Happy Year Year!

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thankful Thursday AND Poetic Thursday – all rolled into one fun day.    First up is always being THANKFUL and for that Blog Hop we are THANKFUL to Brian!    Want to join us?   Click on his badge and hook up.  We’ll be happy to read your thankfuls!    After Santa Paws came to visit I certainly have some thankfuls – I’m not a big toy guy but I did get three things that I LOVE…..a black snake from my friends at Kitties Blue, a bird with feathers that hangs from our doorway and I can smack, bat, push, shove, and jump on (very cool), and a YEEEEOW Lemon which drives me nutso!    I love my other little things too like a tiny mousie and my snazzy new harness (purple!).   In fact I’m just plain THANKFUL for everything I got from everyone including Santa.    Also thankful that we’ve had some sunshine…….we’ve ALL missed it.    It will disappear again tomorrow for a few days but the sun has been GREAT!

Angel Sammy sent us his usual poem last night – His poetic challenges on Thursdays are something a few of you look forward to like I do – and you participate by writing some poems of your own which HE and US love!    Here’s the email I got from the Bridge from him last night:

Happy Post-Christmas Friends!

I hope you got everything you wanted in the way of holiday cheer, treats, toys, naps and love.    I enjoyed watching all of my old friends and new friends (and my own family) from my “Christmas Cloud” at the Bridge.   It made me smile to see everyone having a good time – I just wish I could have been there in purrrson.

Have you written a poem for the photo I gave you last week?    I hope so.   Remember to share it – by link to your blog or by posting the poem in comments here.    Here’s the photo I gave you last week followed by my poem.

“Cozy Cottage”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell     Dec. 26, 2018

Listen to the water trickling into the stream

Isn’t this the coziest place you’ve ever seen?

Flowers cascading down the stair

Oh to sit in the middle of them without a care

My Mom says we all have a spot like this in our mind

Maybe we “go there” when PEACE we must find

When problems are big and solutions are few

Perhaps peace could be found in a cottage’s view

Quiet countryside is calming and chaos is at rest

Soft breezes blowing and birds in their nest

But there’s no need to leave home to find such a place!

Just slow down your life, find a much calmer pace

That place is inside you – right there in your heart

Close your eyes, take a breath, give your attitude a new start.

In the quiet of that moment as your soul begins to renew

Your own cozy cottage of PEACE will come into view.

As usual when I write a poem it just “happens”………..but this one also reflects what I do when I need a minute – life at the Bridge is busy and we all need to PACE ourselves.   I pop into my Mom’s mind when she needs to slow down.   Thinking of me makes her calm and happy!!    That’s one of our BIGGEST JOBS as Angels…..did you know that??

Now here’s your photo for next week – study it – think about it – and when write a poem to share with us next Thursday – I’ll share mine too!   OK?

This should be a fun one!    Give it some thought then come up with a poem to match the photo and we’ll SHARE next Thursday!!!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

I’ll look forward to seeing you next week…………have a great NEW YEAR’S EVE and new year everyone!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks for visiting us Angel Sammy.    Wish I could start the new year with you……..right here……….in my “cozy cottage” !

Love, Teddy
