Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Happy Thursday to all our friends!   Thanks for coming by to see what I’m thankful for AND to see what Angel Sammy sent for his Thoroughly Poetic Thursday post.   We have two parts to our Thursday posts with Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop being first.    Brian would love to have you join all of us — so click the badge above and go to his blog and sign up to be part of THANKFUL THURSDAY!……….I have been very thankful to have some sun the past several days and for the cool breezes we’ve getting which are hinting at some Fall weather approaching.   Even our trees are getting the message because Mom and I have seen some oranges and some yellows on the trees that normally turn first.   We’re a long long way from leaves coming down but the occasional floater by reminds us it’s not far off!!   Mom and Dad’s favorite season is Fall……….Dad got some firewood delivered a couple of weeks ago so we’re READY.

I got the usual email from Angel Sammy overnight – his poem and message to us all never fails to arrive on time.   As busy as he is up there at the Bridge he doesn’t let us down.   Here’s his message:

Greetings from the Bridge!

Have you all noticed how FAST time goes down here?   Mom and Teddy said that it seems like we just had Poetry day but it’s been a whole week.    Anyway, I have been busy but I will never be too busy to pop in from time to time here on my little brother’s blog.

Here’s the photo that I gave you last week as inspiration for your poem.   You have a whole week to come up with a poem to go with the photo – and I hope – as always – that a lot of you gave this a whirl…’s just FUN to use a photo as inspiration and those of you who regularly participate know what I mean.    Here’s the photo I gave you last week, followed by my poem, followed by NEXT week’s photo!!

“Bird Board Meeting”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell         October 3, 2018

“This meeting will come to order”

Chirped the Chairman of the Birds.

“We’ve business to discuss and decisions to make,

About things you may have heard!”

The chirping stopped around him

The birds sat still and quiet

The silence was almost deafening because

It usually sounded like a riot!

“The humans living in this house

Are going to move away

I’ve heard from the dog they’re taking everything

Nothing is going to stay.

That means our beloved bird bath

Where we gather together to meet

Will go with the humans when they leave

Along with the garden seat!

Our favorite places may be gone

But I’ve got an idea or two

There’s always the rooftop or a tall tree

And either place would do!”

The birds began to chatter

And the Chairman listened and thought

Then he called the meeting to order

Opinions he then sought.

The birds had a consensus

Of what they thought they should do

They suggested their next meeting

Be held in the Bird House by the zoo!

HAHA……….another somewhat silly poem but it just came to me in a flash as my poems often do.    What better place to hold a meeting of the Board of Birds than the Bird House?????   Now I found a photo that I hope you like for NEXT Thursday’s Poetic Challenge………………

Fun huh?    I know at least one of my friends in the blogosphere is familiar with tandem bikes…………this is a family tandem which I think is rather cool!    So is it a date everybody?   Will you give writing a poem a try and use this photo as a “spring board” to your creativity?   C’mon!  Join me!

Until next week, I hope each of you has a great week ahead………full of fun, love, hope and happiness…………………….GO FOR IT!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Always, Angel Sammy

Another poem another smile – that’s my Angel brother!!    I too hope you all will join in the fun of writing a poem and if you have one this week you’d like to share, remember to tell us you do in our comments and give us your link………OR, you can even write your poem in our comments if you prefer!

Happy Thursday!

Hugs, Teddy

  1. The Bird of Directors could always hope their meeting room gets left behind like my neighbor’s birdbath I “stole” after they moved out and rehomed in my backyard. And if not, well, maybe at least their new meeting place will be closer to a Krispy Kreme Worms store so they’ll always have plenty of glazed grub to munch on while their birdbrain business is getting conducted…

    • I think it was great that you rescued that birdbath. It’s amazing how many squirrels and birds visit a birdbath – sometimes for fun I put a pile of sunflower seeds in the water in our birdbath – watching the critters dip in to enjoy a “sip and seed” eating session is pretty fun. It would be nice if the Bird of Directors were able to keep their spot but at least they have a PLAN B!!!

    • LOL……fortunately we have a few other colors around here but it all depends on how much rain we’ve had and we’ve had BUCKETS of it. We hope that will mean pretty colors! WAITING……………WAITING………

  2. excellent poem, but very sad. Birds do come to depend on the help we give them. Sorry I skipped the poetry this week. I will be joining again next week. XO

    • I think the birds will have plenty to eat and drink at the zoo…..we love bluebirds – don’t see as many of them as some other birds here like cardinals, crows, bluejays and some others but when we see a bluebird it always makes us smile BIG!

    • HAHAHAHAHA…..oh my dear Tabbies of Trout Towne. You can’t imagine how we fretted and fussed about this photo Angel Sammy thought would be FUN for the poem challenge this week – we (and everyone we know who knows you!) said “UHOH – YOU WILL BE IN BIG DEEP TROUBLE WHEN THE TTT CREW SEES THIS!!!!!”………..well, we’re sorry we disappointed you – it’s a huge BURD HERD at that burd bath and more birdage than most cats can bear to see in one place at one time. Will you forgive us????? We love you….does that help???????????????

  3. That was a very fun poem, Angel Sammy. We sure hope the Board of Birds finds many good places for their future meetings.

  4. We thought the birds might pack up and go with the family. It does look like a meeting of the Bluebird Board. Vey clever idea. Mom is definitely going to be all over next week’s inspiration and poem, as you knew. If only fall would finally get here. That is our moms favorite season as well. We kitties wrote our poem this week. Here’s the link:

    • That was a cute poem – my Mom remembers the Bluebirds….she always thought that was such a CUTE name for a group of little girls! Thanks so much for playing along with poetry every week – you always have a GREAT poem and we knew we’d make you smile with next week’s photo! 🙂

    • Hi Cupcake! It’s fun to see a bunch of birds….a batch of birds…..a pile of birds….a flock? Whatever they are in a crowd they are adorable (and sometimes noisy!).

      Hugs and Happy Friday

  5. Teddy, your thankful is purrfect today. We know we’ll also be grateful when it feels and looks like autumn outside. (Anytime now, autumn!) And, Angel Sammy, your poem made us smile so wide! We love the thought of birds holding a meeting, with a chairman and all. Thank you for hosting this always fun challenge! We look forward to writing our poem every single week.

    • Glad you liked Angel Sammy’s poem! As for next week’s photo – well – the old song about “Bicycle Built For Two” goes right out the window with a family bike. Should be fun for poems too. Thanks for your wonderful poem story – we always look forward to it EVERY week!

      Love, Teddy

  6. Oh Teddy! We love Sammy’s Poem but we bet the Trout Town Tabbies won’t, ha ha ha meow!

Alsom the Human gotted involved in a big project Tuesday and Wednesday and didn’t even help me visit in time to guess. Honestly, how am I EVER going to win if she is so irresponsible! It was a great picture and at least it was of a place she has actually been to! Maybe next week???

    • Purrrrhaps this coming week will be YOUR WEEK Spitty to guess the Teaser. It all depends on what exotic photo our Graphics Department (aka Mom) decides we should feature. Would it help if it was the view outside your favorite window???? If so, send photo ASAP. HAHAHA

      Hugs, Teddy

  7. Those birds look totally weird to me, but then we don’t get them in New Zealand so I guess it’s no surprise!!

    • Oh it doesn’t sound crazy AT ALL – I understand that…..I love all kinds of birds and watching them – they are always SO BUSY and especially love them at the bird feeders. Tanagers are gorgeous. No wonder you miss them!

      Hugs, Pam
