Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Time to be THANKFUL and Poetic too!

Happy Thursday everyone.    Time for us to gather together and celebrate the things we’re THANKFUL for – this is a Hop hosted by Brian and you can join us if you like – just click on their badge above and hook up!

What am I thankful for?   Well this week it’s something that hasn’t even happened yet – I’m thankful for my Mom and Dad celebrating their 28th anniversary on Saturday (otherwise I wouldn’t have my home with them!) AND I’m also thankful that this weekend our temperatures are going to drop TWENTY DEGREES from the unbelievably hot weather we’ve had.   I can’t wait for a little touch of Fall.    It will be in the low 70s but that’s well over 20 degrees cooler than it’s been for weeks and weeks.    So those are my TWO Thankfuls – oh – and I’m also thankful for you Brian and that you give us a chance to be thankful on your Hop!

Angel Sammy sent me the following email – his poem for this week AND a new photo for NEXT week.   If you haven’t tried writing a poem to play along with all of us, please give it a try!

♥♥♥

Greetings from the Bridge!!

It’s time for us to gather together and read each other’s poetry based on last week’s photo I provided.   I hope you’re finding this as much fun as I am.   It’s a rather informal little “Hop” we do – we don’t fill out a linky form or anything – just mention in comments here on the blog that you wrote a poem and give us your blog link ORRRRRR you can write your poem in our comments.    Easy huh?   It is fun to use a photo as inspiration – every week I try to give you one that will be INTERESTING to use as inspiration to write your poem.

Here’s the photo I gave you for today’s poem……………….followed by MY humble offering for Poetic Thursday.

“Giggles Galore”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     September 6, 2018

Laughter echoes across the ground

Children’s laughs heard for miles around!

Slides and swings and monkey bars galore

Parallel bars are fun until your hands get sore!

Boundless energy and endless giggles

So much energy their bodies just wiggle!

Nothing sounds as happy as children at play

No matter where or what time of day

When we get older we remember those times

Of playgrounds and dress up and nursery rhymes

Stresses of work and life drive us wild

We miss seeing life through the eyes of a child………..

One thing about us cats is that we are sort of “perpetual children” in a way.   We pretty much are “up” for playing no matter what our age is – only our old bodies and aching bones and joints eventually slow us down – but if you think about it – isn’t that true for humans too?

Anyway, I loved the photo for this week – and had fun crafting my poem………………….I hope you did too!     I think I found a good one for NEXT week’s poem……..here’s your photo inspiration!

So see what you can do with that photo as inspiration for writing a poem to share with all of us next Thursday when we next get together OK?   OK!  It’s a deal!    Until then, remember we Angels are watching out for you 24/7.   It’s what we do.    And we LOVE our “work” !!!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Forever, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy!    Your poem this week makes me happy.    Mom has said before that you were a “kitten” until you were too sick not to be any longer…………I’m going to do the SAME THING!   You are my inspiration – always.

Love, Teddy

  1. Looking forward to an anniversary is awesome. Happies in advanced to both of you! Counting chickens before they’ve hatched in the weather department…… well, I’ll believe the cooler temps when I actually feel them!

    • Thanks ES! Unbelievably had I remained married to my first hubby, I would have been celebrating 51 years this past June. EEEEEEEK……YIKES…..etc. !! As for the weather – we are going to have some cool weather this weekend but probably go back to 100+ next week. I never “trust” this time of year – I just hope it’s not as weird this winter as it’s been this summer!

  2. Aw, Motor Mommy LOVES that picture for next week!! Maybe this time, she’ll actually write a poem about it….we’ll see about THAT.
And your poem today, Angel Sammy, reminded Mom of that saying that she really likes: “We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing”.

  3. Mom here. That poem resonated with me. And so did the picture for next week.
Seeing life through the eyes of a child…we fortunate ones can remember how that child awareness was. Food for thought. XXXX

    • You’re right…….some are not so fortunate and I will forever be grateful that I have a little of that awareness tucked away in my elderly brain that I’m holding on to as long as possible!! 🙂

  4. I hope your folks have something wonderful planned for celebrating their anniversary. That is a wonderful poem from Angel Sammy, he never disappoints. I try to still see things as through the eyes of a child. Next week’s photo is beautiful, fall is coming 🙂 XO

    • I know Lola……..we’re that way too – there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to visit everyone we wish we could visit……OR Mom could stay awake 24/7 but so far she’s refused to do that! 😦

  5. The Halloween, T’giving and Christmas displays are starting in the stores. It’s 81 right now at 7:20 in the morning and I’m not ready for the holidays. The leaves haven’t started falling off the cactus yet 🙂

  6. Dearest friend and angel, Sammy. It makes us feel so safe and happy to know you are watching over us all. Your poem was wonderful today, as it is always! Mom just couldn’t get going this week and had lots of false starts, thus just a little haiku, but we like it. Here’s the link: http:/www./thecatonmyhead.com/slip-slidin-away/
Next week’s pix made us think of your parent’s bench in the woods; though, we know this isn’t that one. Sending lots of love to all. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    • Hi gang! Angel Sammy says there are so many angels who watch out for their families – somehow they can do a lot of other work at the Bridge and STILL watch over us – I think the Bridge must be a very magical place. He also was happy that you liked his poem. My Mom says she kind of wishes her bench in the woods WAS this one…..the one they have needs a good power washing!

  7. Your poem brings back so many wonderful childhood memories to our Mom. She says she spent most of every summer day at the local park playing on the playground and swimming in the pool. It is sad that you don’t see a lot of children at the park these days. We live in a very different world today.

  8. Happy Anniversary to your peeps, Teddy! It’s cooler here today too. Thank cod. It was so hot and humid lately…we almost melted our furs off. Tell Sammy that’s another excellent poem. Those kids sliding made us laugh.

  9. That is a great poem, Sammy. I loved to go and play in the park. At the weekend my mother used to take us and walk the dogs to the big park about 3 miles away. We all walked so much further then and didn’t rely on the cars to go everywhere.
We loved the big park because it had two small lakes. One was a paddling pool and the other was the boating lake where we sailed our toy boats.
Happy Anniversary to your mum and dad for Saturday, Teddy.

    • My Mom has lots of wonderful park memories too – especially when she lived as a little girl in Weisbaden, Germany. The park near their house was HUGE and she’d stand on the back of her little brother’s stroller while her Mom pushed them all around. She has one “bad” slide memory from that time though – she got to the bottom of a slide ride and fell face forward. She’s got a little scar to prove it! I guess slides can be a little scary. Mom says thanks for the anniversary wishes…….

      Hugs, Teddy
