Sunday Selfie

SUNDAY!!!!   SELFIES!!!!  YAY!!!!    Time for the Blog Hop hosted by Kitties Blue at THE CAT ON MY HEAD where we all post voluntarily (or involuntarily) for a selfie and share them with each other.   You just click the badge above which takes you to their blog and fill out the form to join in the fun.

I’ve been doing “flashback selfies” the past few Sundays and thought I’d do another one……………it’s from September 30, 2017 – one year ago today!

I have to tell you (but keep this to yourself!) – I’m not too crazy about this one.    I like my smile………and my little paws all tucked in under my chin but not sure Mom picked the BEST art effect for this one a year ago.    MOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

We were going to do a “re-do” of this one but Mom can’t find the “original” photo she did this artsy version from.   She’s got so many photos but she thinks MAYBE when she loaded the original up into Lunapic to do the selfie, she didn’t save the original.    MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Well, I’ll forgive her.   She was probably in a hurry or distracted by me or Dad………or maybe she just plain FORGOT.    At any rate, I’m doing a jigsaw of this one just in case any of you jigsaw peeps want a little Sunday fun – I kinda think this might be a tough jigsaw except for around the border though.   GOOD LUCK.

Click mini-me for the jigsaw puzzle!   It’s 180 pieces!

Happy Sunday!   Teddy

Bakin’ with Bacon In King Teddy’s Kitchen

Hello Loyal Baconians!  Welcome to the kitchen of the King (me!)

Today is another breakfast bacon recipe – and it’s a bread which is always fun to make especially when you don’t have to let things rise and whack it back down and rise again and whack…..well you get the picture.    This is way easier and truly delicious.   I made it with shredded cheddar but you can use any cheese I’m sure.    We are a SHARP CHEDDAR household here!!

Not everyone has a bundt pan I know…………..something tells me you could make this in a large baking dish but I HAVE NOT TRIED THAT…………..

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Brunch Bread

INGREDIENTS – This is for a bundt pan – I have only made it with a bundt pan but I have a feeling a large baking dish would work)

This recipe makes TWELVE servings (depending on the size of the appetites of your guests of course!)

  • large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • cups self rising flour
  • 2 1/4 cups cheese (Sharp Cheddar is best!) – I buy the packages of shredded cheddar……saves on the work of shredding/grating the cheese into large shreds
  • 10 slices bacon (cooked and finely crumbled)
  • 2 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • tablespoons butter (melted)
  • teaspoon chopped fresh chives (optional)

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Spray a standard size bundt pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a medium-size mixing bowl whisk together the eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Scramble in a skillet over medium-high heat until firm. Set aside to cool.
  3. In a medium size mixing bowl, use a fork to mix together the flour with 1 cup cheese shreds and 1/2 cup bacon. Make a well in the center and add the cream.
  4. Using a fork gradually work the cream through the dry ingredients until moistened.
  5. Sprinkle 2 Tbsp reserved bacon and 1/4 cup cheese evenly on the bottom of the bundt pan.
  6. Use a regular 4-oz ice cream scoop to divide the dough. Scoop 1/2 of the biscuit batter onto the bottom of the pan.
  7. Use the back of a spoon or offset spatula to spread and flatten the dough slightly.
  8. Sprinkle the biscuit dough with 1/2 cup cheese shreds, scrambled eggs, remaining bacon crumbles then top with 1/2 cup cheese shreds
  9. Scoop the remaining biscuit dough over the filling. Flatten and spread slightly.
  10. Place into the oven and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the dough comes back clean.
  11. Rest in the pan for 5 minutes then turn onto a cake plate.
  12. Mix together the melted butter and chopped chives. Brush the bread on all sides.
  13. Use a sharp knife to slice and serve.

Now doesn’t that sound YUMMY????

Yeah I thought you might say that.     Well perhaps everyone will have a chance to try this one because even though it SEEMS like it’s complicated it really IS NOT.   It’s worth the effort.

IF you make a mess in the kitchen I’ll clean it up!!! Honest!

Well now that’s an offer you can’t refuse right?

Until we meet again in my Castle Kitchen!!!!!!

Filling In AND A Book Review Too!

Time to Fill !!   Fill what?   Why, fill in the sentences that our co-hosts give us every week that’s what!    And in fact, one of our co-hosts (Miss Ellen from 15andMeowing) wrote a book that I’m going to do a book review on today so let’s get on with the filling in and I’ll tell you ALLLLL about a GREAT book that I’ve read……………Oh yes – if you’d like to fill-in with the rest of us Hoppers, click the badge above and join us.

Here are the sentences we got for this week.    I got to answer them ALL BY MYSELF and my answers are in RED!

1. A whistle from my Mom will get me moving toward her in a flash!  I respond to whistling but not calling my name!.
2. The best time of the day is early morning when Mom and I have “our time” before Dad gets up; we play and Mom feeds me breakfast and I follow her around wherever she goes!.
3. Wet kitty cat food is not my strong suit.
4. It’s all fun and games until loud thunder happens then I get nervous.

That was fun……thank you to our co-hosts for this totally fun Hop every week – it’s a great way to get to know the “inside scoop” about each other!
Now I want to tell you all about Miss Ellen’s wonderful first childrens book and I invited my good friend Prancie of 15andMeowing to let me interview her for my book review of “Prancie’s Prayer”.

Prancie’s Prayer by Ellen J. Pilch

I thought it would be fun to talk to Prancie about this magical little book her Mom wrote all about her!    So I picked up the telephone and gave her a buzz and here’s what I asked her (IN BLUE) and her answers (IN RED).     I also asked Prancie for some photos of her – oldies and newies – and I’ve put them among the questions so those of you who don’t know Prancie can see what a pretty ginger lady she is.

Pretty Prancie

TEDDY:  Prancie it must be VERY exciting to have your Mom’s very first book be ALL ABOUT YOU!   Did you consult with her on the content??

PRANCIE:   Yes, it is exciting. Yes, mom was always telling Dad we are collaborating on a book. Really though, we were just snuggling.

TEDDY I feel so sad that you were on the hunt for a new home, or food and shelter in such COLD weather, when you wound up at your Mom and Dad’s house – what did you think when you saw SO many other cats living there?

PRANCIE:   I thought it must be a good place. Most of the cats were quite plump so I figured they got fed often.

TEDDY:  Do you think your Mom could write stories about the other kitties in your house too?

PRANCIE:     I guess she could, but my story is the most interesting.

TEDDY:   What’s your most favorite part of the book?

PRANCIE:    When I say a prayer to thank Jesus for my home, knowing I will never be out in the cold again.

TEDDY:   What was your first impression of your new home?

PRANCIE:   I knew it was great, lots of places to nap and other kitties to play with and toys everywhere. There was a bully though, for some reason Barney did not like me. I don’t know why, I am so sweet. I made sure to stick by one of my folks so she couldn’t chase me.

Yeah – this is the life!!

TEDDY:   Mom and I thought the artist who did the drawings for your book did a great job.   Do you think he made YOU look like YOU????

PRANCIE:   Yes, Nick is a fantastic artist. My ears do not look like me, but mom left that part out. You see my ears got frostbitten when I was in the cold and they literally froze off. I look pretty cute with short ears though.

I have lots of great snoozy spots in my house!

TEDDY:    If someone would like an autographed copy of your Mom’s book, how can they get one?

PRANCIE:    Mom is selling copies through our blog for $10, this includes shipping. If you want it autographed just let her know. She feels funny signing because she writes like a child, but she will do it.

TEDDY:   One last question dear Prancie……….would you like your Mom to write more books about YOU????

PRANCIE:   Yes, I would love a sequel or even a whole series about me.

Me and my Dad snuggling!!

Thanks a lot for spending some time with me talking about your Mom’s first book.   My Mom has read it AND even read it to ME and both of us loved it.   My Dad thought it was a fun little book as well.   ALL of us agree this is a perfect book to read to a little one in your family because it’s full of sweet drawings and the story is one of the struggles some of us go through to try and find a FOREVER HOME when we’ve lost ours or maybe never ever had one before.    You are one lucky girl to live in your house with the other kitties and your loving Mom and Dad.

My Mom thinks this is a great little “Christmas Book” because you found your forever at Christmas time……..and it’s about the power of prayer.     Not only would this make a GREAT Christmas present for a “little person” you all might know, it’s easy to read so little readers can settle down with the book on their own and read it over and over and over themselves OR sit in the lap with a grownup while THEY read the story and bring it to life with their voice.

Anyone wanting to read the book should visit by clicking the BOOK COVER above – we have linked it to the page where Miss Ellen has her photo and the versions of the book that are available to purchase.   Remember, if you want an autographed copy, you can let Miss Ellen know by leaving a COMMENT for her on her blog HERE.

Our BIG THANKS to Miss Ellen and Prancie for letting us interview them – we wish you tons of success with this first book and hope there are MANY MORE TO COME!

We definitely give this book our HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION as an easy, fun and charming read.    Your kids will love this one – SET THEIR IMAGINATION FREE………….

Happy Friday from Teddy the Interviewer (!) and Mom

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

HAPPY THURSDAY!    Time for Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.   We all hop on board the THANKFUL train and share what we’ve been thankful for the past week.    Want to join us?   Click the badge above.   Easy.

As for what I’m thankful for, the first thing that pops into my head is that our ENDLESS rain has become off and on…….this morning we have sun but later we’ll have t-storms so we’re FINALLY at least getting a bit of sun.   Rain is good but too much of it is BAD as everyone who was effected by Florence knows.   Anyway, that’s one thing of “thankful”.   Another is that my Mom had a very nice birthday this week thanks to all the wonderful friends who sent messages wishing her a happy one.   She had that and more!

I’m also of course thankful that Angel Sammy got through from his wi-fi connection at the Rainbow Bridge to send us his poem of the week………………here it is!

Let’s Get Poetic!

Hi Friends!   Thursday is our day – we get together and share some poetry based on a photo that gives us some inspiration.   Kind of fun to pick up a vibe from a photo and turn it into a poem.   If you’ve done that with the photo I gave you last week – BRAVO!   Let us know you did in our comments – we’ll visit you to read it.    If you didn’t – I hope maybe you will give it a try.   Everyone looks at a photo and feels SOMETHING from what they see – it’s just a hop, skip and jump from FEELING something to writing about it.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week…………………followed by my poem based on what I felt when I looked at the photo:

The years will pass in the blink of an eye

But love can remain as time passes by

If foundations are strong and the relationship is true

The bond lasts FOREVER like SUPER GLUE!!!

HAHA!   I fooled you with that one right?

I thought I’d have some FUN with a poem as I don’t often do that – most of my Thursday poems are longer and more “deep” but I love this photo so much (and so does my Mom!) that it just didn’t call for a lot of work – I made it EASY – just like love that’s right can be very EASY.    The couple in this photo are enjoying a moment.   Life is full of moments and we should make as many of them as happy as we can.    Mostly because we never really know how long we will be HERE………….we need to make sure we pack in as much learning, life and love as we can!!

Now, would you like to see the photo I picked for you for next week?????

As a cat of course I love this photo for many reasons (!) but I just think it’s very cool so many birds are gathered in the same spot to enjoy a dip or a drink!    Have fun with this one!    We’ll be getting together next Thursday again to share our poems.

Hope everyone has a good week…………….you know up here at the Rainbow Bridge we don’t really have “time” like we did before we came here.    We’re also pretty busy – sometimes keeping watch over you, sometimes helping newcomers adjust, sometimes just floating on a cloud remembering our “BEFORES”.     All of YOU are part of those dreams!

See you next week!   Love, Angel Sammy

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thank you brother…………..we will look forward to your poem next week and I’ll look for you in my dreams…………………

Love, Teddy
