SPARK on Monday

Standard

Time for a little SPARK on Monday morning.    You know by now that SPARKS was created by our friend Annie at McGuffy’s Reader – Annie isn’t blogging for now but the SPARKS idea has a life of its’ own and those of us who think Monday is a great day to INSPIRE are still sharing our Monday “sparks” with each other.

I have a totally simple SPARK this morning.   I remember when I was working before I retired I dreaded Mondays.   I knew I’d have to finish up things I’d started on Friday and worried about all weekend and had to tackle “first thing on Monday”………I’d arrive at work and think it was just too overwhelming but once I started resolving issues and finishing projects of course I DID get through Monday.   I also felt like I’d accomplished a lot and it cleared the way for a good week.    In time I learned to face Mondays as a challenge and not a burden.   Now that I’m retired, Monday is STILL my day to start fresh.    I put on my positive pants (jeans!) and off I go……..one step at a time.    Monday truly is a state of mind – make it a positive start to a positive week.   It works – trust me.

  2. Excellent thought! You are so right. If we think we can do it….we can and even if we seem overwhelmed, tackling the job one piece at a time, knocks down the problem. What a long sentence…you get the idea!

    • My Mom retired in 2006 but Monday is still the beginning of a week and she needs all the motivation she can get to have the ENERGY to do all the non-work chores she does now. Kind of pumps up the volume and gets her head wrapped around the challenge! 🙂

  3. Since Mom retired Mondays do not bother her, as she rarely can keep track of what day of the week it is. She could have used that Spark when she was working. All the Monday Sparks do set her in the right direction to have a good week. • SPARKS works doesn’t it…..I’m not working either of course but seeing the suggested motivation in the SPARKS messages DOES stick with me – and as we age it takes more motivation anyway than it did back in the day.

  4. Petcretary works alternate Mondays, and she doesn’t get there till 3 pm…when most of the work and issues have already been addressed! Phew! So Monday, other than just another day, is just that: Another day! MOL! Today she is off, and she will be off next week, too…three Mondays off in a row, Yipee!
Those are the joys of part time work:)

    • My Mom worked part-time for a while after she stopped full-time but she was still glad when she could just say “that’s it for me” and become a lazy truly retired lady WELL before she ever thought she could. Enjoy having your Petcretary home for these Mondays!!!

    • We have some issues with “what day is it” around here too – but blogging kind of keeps Mom SOMEWHAT aware….we have all the Teaser days to keep up with then the poem day for Angel Sammy so it KEEPS Mom a little more tuned in than she would be otherwise. Days are all the same for me though – I’m a happy boy no matter WHAT day it is! 🙂
