Dingleberry’s Recipe Roundup!

Miss Dingleberry – the class is all yours (but we’re watching from the back of the room!)

Hello Students…..Your beloved Miss D here and it’s time for us to

check out YOUR entries in the “CREATE A RECIPE FROM THIS GROSS PHOTO” contest!

First of all, thank you to ALL of you who entered.  We know it was a big fat disappointment when we cancelled Teaser this week but the Profs needed a day off because of their Mom and Dad being out of town so I was the lucky duck (or cook) who got to run my OWN contest.    It was a challenge right?    Not so easy to create a recipe from a rather GROSS looking photo of an unknown food item.   BUT, you were game.   Eight of you fabulous students of the School entered.

Tee Hee….this oughta be good!

OR scary…….!

We will share the recipes from those who entered FIRST – and assign them a NUMBER.    The Voting Poll will follow the recipes and just vote for your FAVORITE recipe – it can be that you choose it because it sounds the most delicious, most interesting, most disgusting, most impossible to eat, most – well – you get the idea.   You choose your FAVORITE no matter why.    THEN, tomorrow we will announce the WINNER.    The WINNER will be getting a special badge from our Professors……….

ENTRY #1 – Clowie’s “Bombe Surprise”

This is a suprisingly simple recipe.

Main Ingredients:

1 generous scoop of pond scum

1 portion of cat puke

1 ball of dung

Optional extras:

Dead slugs

Dead snails

Road kill

Rabbit poo

Part-eaten and discarded takeaway

Gather together your ingredients. For the dung ball you need to find a friendly dung beetle and persuade him to part with the ball of dung. He may be tempted to exchange it for some fresh dung!

Put the pond scum into a dish. If you have any of the optional extras, push those into the scum around the edge.

Place the portion of cat puke in the centre of the pond scum.

Gently push the dung ball into the cat puke.

Voila! You have made bombe surprise. Bon apetit!

ENTRY #2 – Kismet’s “Potato De Foul Grass”

1) Go outside and cut the grass (or in our case AstroTurf-the dish will taste the same).

2) Put the grass cuttings in a blender and add an equal amount of pond scum. Blend for four hours. Do step 3 concurrently.

3) In the middle of the plate put that thing that’s been in the back of your refrigerator for the last six months after nuking it in the microwave for four hours remove all signs of decay.

4) Put on a serving plate. Garnish it with a raw purple potato on one side of the  plate.

5) Serve with pride to your in-laws! Don’t waste gourmet food like this on Miss Dingleberry.

Would I eat it? I’m a bird and stick to sunflower seeds.

ENTRY #3 – Madi’s “Mock Congealed Eye of Newt Aspic”

2 jars of halved olives (the eyes)
1 jar of lime juice to make sure it is very bitter
2 envelop lime jello for color
1 cup warm water about 5 ice cubes
Directions combine the lime juice, jello and warm water
stir til dissolved.  Add ice cubes to start the chill.
Place mixture in the freezer for ~20 minutes or until it starts to congeal.
Remove from freeze now stir in the halve olives.  Pour mixture into a jello mold, refrigerate for 3 or 4 hours.
You can tell it is ready when you giggle it and the olives move about like eyeballs.  Turn out onto a bed of lettuce
serve as a disgustingly delicious side dish or a main dish with mozzarella cheese ball tarts on the plate.
hints:  the lime juice and sweet jello give it the sweet and sour taste.
Bon Appetite

ENTRY #4 –  Sage’s Fav Classic Military Canteen Meal: Chicken with Sorrel Sauce and Chocolate Pudding! (each individual item on the plate has a recipe!)

Ingredient No. 1: Chocolate pudding

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt. Let the cat drink half of the milk. Gradually add remaining milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil and stir for 2 minutes, but be unsatisfied with the consistency and boil for further 5 minutes still it’s really hard. Remove from the heat; stir in butter and vanilla (if you can). Spoon into individual serving dishes, preferably with an axe. Chill until serving.

Ingredient No. 2: SORREL SAUCE

  • 2-3 cup VERY heavy cream (originally, it’s 2/3 but misread it)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 pound sorrel leaves, stems removed
  • 2 tablespoons vermouth, or chicken or vegetable stock
  • Salt and white pepper to taste
  1. Chiffonade the sorrel by curling up a few leaves at a time and slicing them very thin. But become bored and slice them thick.
  2. Pour the cream in a small pot but do not bring it to a simmer, because doing this would prevent it from curdling when it hits all that acidic sorrel in a few minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in another small to medium pot, heat the butter over medium heat and add the sorrel. Cook the sorrel but forget to stir, until it melts – it will cook down a lot and turn Army green. Muse on till it is Castleton green. When it does, stir in the cream and bring the sauce to a bare simmer. It will be pretty thick, so you should to add the vermouth or stock to thin it out. But you have no stock, and you prefer drinking the vermouth. Add salt and white pepper to taste and serve.

Ingredient No. 3: A drumstick

Take a drumstick from the fridge and toss it in the middle of the sorrel sauce.

ENTRY#5 – Ellen’s Carb-Free Lasagna

My kitties have come up with a recipe for the 2nd photo- !
3 dead evil squirrels
squirrel’s blood
ricotta cheese-16 ounces
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Drain blood from squirrels and save
shave fur off squirrels and skin them- you will use these skins in place of lasagna noodles
grind squirrel meat like hamburger and fry then mix ricotta cheese with it
Now layer the meat/cheese mix then skin then blood- repeat then bake for 45minutes- yummy.

ENTRY #6 – Janet’s “Asparagus Soup with Chicken, Sausage and Chocolate Pudding”

This is  the “Ultimate One-Dish Meal” (contains protein, veggies AND dessert all on one plate!)

One package chocolate pudding (prepared per package instructions)

One can asparagus spears

One large chicken breast

One packaged sausage (any variety)

Four cups chicken stock

One-quarter cup sesame seeds

Make chocolate pudding following package instructions. Place in freezer.Cook chicken using any conventional method, except fried.  Allow to cool.Pull apart with fork and fingers to make chucks and set aside.  In blender or food processor, puree asparagus.  Toast sesame seeds in oven just until tan…watch closely so not to burn them.    Slice sausage into one-inch pieces and brown in large skillet.  Add asparagus puree, chicken stock, sesame seeds and salt and pepper to taste.  Cover and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.  Add chicken and continue to cook uncovered until chicken is heated through.  While your soup is cooking, take partially frozen pudding from freezer and shape into large balls. Return to freezer.  When all items in soup are heated through, spoon into bowls, top with pudding ball and serve.    VOILA – THE ULTIMATE MEAL!

ENTRY#7 – Bill Brown’s “Possum a la Snuggle”

Preheat oven to 420 degrees
1 can of beer
2 pounds of fresh possum meat (Twice baked is better)
1 poisonous mushroom
A pinch of “The Good Stuff” (aka, the wacky weed)
A rich honey glaze (from a bear’s nose)
Marinade in skunk aroma
1 shot glass full of special “bimbocorn sauce”
Mix with “recycled food product”
Enjoy!  Or not….

ENTRY #8 – Da Phenny’s “Mr. Burns Nuclear Mushroom”

I picked uglyfood n°1 and here is my recipe:
mr burns nuclear mushroom
you need ;
one mushroom, let’s say a champignon or a fly agaric if you are brave enough
a bag of algues, you can buy them or you can take htem from mouldy&wet walls

Miss Dingleberry’s Contest

Good Morning students.    I do hope you all have been working on your recipe entries for MY contest??   You don’t want me to have SARGE or MARGE give you a little lecture on class participation do you?   No?  I didn’t think so – well in that case, you’d best get those entries submitted TODAY.     In fact, today by 3PM (Eastern Standard Time) because that is the DEADLINE.    Tomorrow we will be giving you all the fabulous entries in the contest along with a voting poll and YOU will say which incredibly delicious recipe you like the very BEST!

SPARKS on Monday

SPARKS is the wonderful idea of our friend Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.   Starting off the week by releasing a bit of an inspirational spark to fire up minds, hearts and souls thereby lighting up the world is a GREAT say to begin another week.    Annie is taking a much deserved break right now but those of us who enjoy the Blog Hop are carrying on with our SPARK posts in her honor and in the hope we can inspire those who read what we choose to post.

I’m returning to AGING with my SPARK this week.   Maybe because I have it on my mind right now – I’m celebrating with my sister this week her 80th birthday.   I know neither of us ever dreamed when we were young and crazy that we would reach our “Golden Years” before we burned out but yet here we are………..full lives and hearts.   Isn’t it great?

I’d say both of us have been able to carry the spirit of the child into our later years…………carrying the spirit of the child doesn’t mean being immature or not moving with the times but keeping the enthusiasm for life, the fun of new experiences, the happiness of watching the stars at night and the ability to love learning something new every single day…….just as a child would do.

I also absolutely LOVE this photo………it even has a cat in it !!    Happy Monday………………….

Hugs, Pam

Pre-Tease Monday…NOT

Is the world coming to an end????

Yep – I know that none of us EVER thought the day would come when there wouldn’t be a Pre-Teaser or Teaser……….BUTTTT the fact is that my Mom and Dad are going to be away all day Tuesday and home on Wednesday.   That’s just long enough to mess up having a Teaser this week.   Mom needs to be HERE when we go live on Teaser Tuesday.    That means we can’t TEASE this week.

SAY IT ISN’T SO!!!!!!!!!!!

Well we can’t say it isn’t so because it’s a FACT…………AND since we won’t have a Teaser this week, I think we should still have class today and tomorrow, and the cheer team should console everyone with an appropriate cheer and Miss Dingleberry should STILL feed all of us…………..but we won’t have to prepare to see a photo at a surprise time tomorrow morning.    Sure will be a DIFFERENT kind of Tuesday won’t it?

Even Teddy is depressed about not having a Teaser…..

It just won’t be the SAME around here without a Teaser!

I know, but BUCK UP and be brave class, your Professors will be returning on Wednesday afternoon – not even gone a week – so there WILL BE A TEASER NEXT TUESDAY.   OK?   Now pull yourselves together!    We will still have class tomorrow – just no Teaser photo.

I say PHOOOOEY but since there’s nothing we can do about it…….I’ll pout in silence.

I’m keeping cool practicing my yoga and resting my voice this week so I’ll be able to SCREAM next Tuesday!

Cheer Team?    We really need you to give class a consoling type of cheer today.   There’s a distinctive note of DEPRESSION circulating among the class population today at the thought of not having a Teaser tomorrow.

We’re sorry no Teaser this week
We’re almost too depressed to speak
How inconsiderate for the humans to leave
Giving Teaser class a reprieve
Our Professors can’t Tease without assistance
But the humans can’t help from a distance!
So put on a smile and be brave
Maybe while they’re gone we can have a RAVE!
Hot tub time for the whole class!
And a cheer or two with a HUGE dose of sass!

Remember that Sarge and Marge will STILL BE HERE even if your Professors aren’t so I’d be careful about the RAVE idea if I were you.   You girls would do well to just take a nice little break……..go to the beach……but use sunscreen this time!

No worries – we Professors will arrange for some kind of FUN while we’re gone so class tomorrow will STILL be fun even if it’s not a TEASER TUESDAY OK?    Miss Dingleberry – would you please serve our snacks for today – perhaps THAT will cheer up this classroom!    REMEMBER CLASS – YOU DON’T HAVE TO STUDY TONIGHT – isn’t that kind of cool?????

Today only you can have BOTH popcorn and cotton candy !!

Bacon cheeseburger pizza…

Meatball pizza with cheese

LOADED pizza

The Professors know you’re sad about Teaser so I’m loading you up with food to help you feel better!

Yep – we will be here tomorrow but NO TEASER!

Your Profs

Sunday Selfie Hop

Happy Sunday

Sunday means Blog Hopping our Selfies with our hosts at The Cat On My Head……I know you want to be one of the Hoppers so why not click on their badge above and join in the fun!

My Mom did her usual tricks with a photo that I would much rather she NOT have taken…..she caught me in an awkward moment up on her bed…..I was taking care of business (aka bathing) and was just finishing up my best bits (tummy) when SNAP there she was.   I didn’t even have a chance to put my FULL POWER LASERS on her – they are just half power!    I can’t believe she’s using this silly looking photo for my Selfie but there you have it.  At least she used her Lunapic magic and colored it up and framed it with Pizap so maybe you’re distracted and dazzled by the colors and don’t see that I’m BATHING!

Here’s the before and after:

AND of course he had to turn this into a puzzle for you jigsaw-puzzle-maniacs like SHE is……… if you have nothing better to do this Sunday morning or afternoon then GOOD LUCK!!!!     Mom promised me she’d not capture my bathing activity on camera again but we all know that’s just plain NOT TRUE!   HAHA

Just click the itty bitty picture of me to begin the jigsaw!

Hugs, Teddy

Bakin’ in Baconia

Welcome to the Kitchen at Castle Baconia – I am your HOST, King Teddy!

Yep – only on Saturdays do I throw the head cook of my castle OUT for the morning and take over because I wish to share one of my favorite bacon-ful treats with all of you……my loyal subjects of the land where bacon reigns supreme – BACONIA!

Today I’m doing an unusual item – it’s a BREAKFAST cookie.   What’s so great about these?  Well for one thing they are great for camping/hiking because it’s a portable breakfast in a few bites (although there’s no way you can just eat ONE of these………ever……..camping or at home).   Another thing is while they have a lot of ingredients, if you read the ingredients, they are all GOOD.     And before you ask me, yes you can have more bacon in them than this recipe calls for.    And also before you ask me, although I made these with the oat flour I imagine you could use ANY flour.

Peanut Butter Bacon Breakfast Cookies (say that five times fast!)

  • 1 1/2 cups Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1 cup Oat Flour  (yes it’s a slightly exotic ingredient but it IS with the other flours in the baking aisle at the grocery!)
  • 1/3 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • pinch of Salt
  • 2 large Ripe Bananas, mashed
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 cup Peanut Butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Peanut Butter Chips
  • 6 slices Cooked Bacon, crumbled

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together oats, oat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, egg, peanut butter, and vanilla.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the peanut butter chips and bacon.
  6. Drop by 1/4 cup scoops onto parchment paper or silicone mat-lined baking sheets. Flatten slightly.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned at the edges.
  8. Remove to wire racks to cool.

It’s impossible to tell you ADEQUATELY how delicious these are.   Trust me.   You do trust your KING don’t you?    Even our castle CHEF liked them when I granted his wish to try one:

Ooohhh la la…..zee cookies, they are trez bon!

That’s Baconian French for “these cookies ROCK”…………… I know they are good for ANYONE!

Now, as you know, today is the ROYAL WEDDING at Windsor Castle……………we want to wish the happy couple all the best of luck and love………….and yes of course my Mom and I will be watching on the royal television set.    After all, I’m a KING so I like seeing other Royals enjoying themselves and a wedding is such a beautiful occasion.

We hope they will be happy forever………..

It’s good to be King………..(or even a Prince!)

See you next week!

Friendly Fill Ins

Hello and Happy Friday!    Even though Annie at McGuffy’s Reader is on a blogging hiatus for a while, Ellen at 15andMeowing has partnered up with Lorianne at FourLeggedFurballs to keep the Fill-Ins going while Annie is taking a break.   We are happy to be pawticipating this week!    If you’d like to join in the fun, click the badge above and be taken to 15andMeowing to LINK UP!

Here are this week’s sentences to fill in and our fill-ins are in RED.    Oh yes – I forgot to tell you – I let my Mom be the “filler-inner” this week……nice of me huh???

1.Happiness is what keeps me young.

2. Ten years ago, I was happily living life with my husband and an adorable ginger cat and I STILL am – but the cat is now Teddy when back then it was Sammy!.

3. Laughter truly  is the best medicine.

4. Most people don’t know that I have written three books myself, contributed to an anthology written by all women, and been the editor of a poetry book for a publisher.
Mom I think everyone knows you’ve written books but then again we have a lot of new followers who might not know that.
We hope that you have a fabulous Friday – we are having a WET Friday which fits right in with the rest of this week because it’s rained EVERY DAY.   A couple of very dangerous storms among them, but mostly just dark skies and heavy rain.    Luckily, my Dad has indulged my love of being outside by putting on my harness and his rain gear and taking me out in the rain.   Know what?  I don’t mind it one bit.   I don’t mind getting WET as long as it’s RAIN doing it and not a bath with soap!  YUCK!

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I’m THANKFUL it’s Thursday!   Time to join Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop – you can do the same – click the badge above and you’re IN!    We share what we’re thankful for each week.   I’m always thankful for everything I have in my home – humans who love me, all the food I can eat (and more), lots of nap spots, toys, – well, just EVERYTHING anyone could possibly ask for.   That’s a lot to be thankful for but I truly am.    I love living here and feel so much love from my Mom and Dad.

I am also thankful that my big brother Angel Sammy sends us some poetic fun every week………he may be at the Rainbow Bridge, but he never lets any of us down when we need him – and on Thursday it’s HIS day to share a poem he’s written to go with the photo he give us as inspiration every week.   I got his email last night – just before he settled in for the night on his Cloud at the Bridge……….here’s what he sent.

Hello my friends!    It’s Thursday again………..days whiz by don’t they – they do that at the Bridge too but we’re all so super busy sometimes we don’t notice.   I have friends up here who remind me that it’s time to do my poem every week or I’d probably forget!     As you all know, the whole idea about Poetic Thursday is that I give you a photo every week and you come up with a poem that the photo has inspired in you……what did the photo make you feel or think about or what do you “see” in your mind’s eye when you study the photo.   Whatever you want to do with the photo it’s YOURS to be creative with.    It’s not so hard to write a poem – they can be short or long, they can rhyme or not – it’s just a way to EXPRESS yourself and it’s fun.   Give it a whirl.

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST week………..and it’s followed by MY poem to share with you!   If you have written a poem let us know in my comments here and we’ll come read it OR you can even write your poem HERE in our comments!    Ready?

Before I do my poem let me just say that this photo is so very cool.   It’s one of the new “tiny houses” that lots of people are moving into and giving up their BIG houses for when they really just don’t need that much room.   This one is on wheels too so you can take it with you ANYWHERE – like a camper only a house!   If you get tired of your view, you can take it somewhere else.   VERY VERY cool.    Anyway, here’s my poem:

“Living Small”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     May 17, 2018

I’ve heard the term “living large”

But I won’t be the one to lead the charge

I think we don’t really need all that space

“Large” doesn’t fit my preferred life’s pace.

A little house on wheels, what a deal!

Who needs 10 rooms, that’s got NO appeal

Just enough space to make a meal and sleep

No big mortgage to get in debt too deep!

Room for me, Mom, Dad and Teddy

If I was back on Earth, I’d always be ready

We’d travel around and see so much!

Or we’d live in a field full of flowers to touch!

Or by a stream with water and fish

It truly would be my fondest wish………..

Some humans think they need so much room

But you don’t need space for your imagination to bloom!

Small, cozy places with those you love best

Is the REAL definition of a true LOVE NEST !

Oh I think it would be fun to live in that little house…………Mom says it would also make a great little garden shed, or art/craft studio………or even a little “pool house” but really and truly, a TINY house could truly be a home.   Scale down life and make things more simple.    Yep – works for me!

So would you like to see the photo I picked out for you for next week’s poetry challenge?

I bet you have some pretty cool thoughts about THIS ONE don’t you?   I know I sure do…………………………………………

So, is it a date?   Will you come back next Thursday to visit and let us know you wrote a poem for this photo?   I will be here waiting to read it.   Meanwhile, have a great week ahead.   I will spend mine keeping an eye on my little brother Teddy and my Mom and Dad and everyone else that I love………..that’s YOU!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Thank you Angel Sammy…………….I love your poem this week and I just bet I will love your poem NEXT week.    I hope everyone will join us in writing a poem for your poetry challenge.   I really, truly do!

Big Hugs from Teddy to you……….

Teaser Tell All

Hello Class…..we’re here to tell all………..

We had a great Teaser yesterday didn’t we?   Lots of good guesses coming in and everyone said they wished they were THERE wherever it was.   It looked like a very pretty spot even if it was a bit “high traffic” with boaters.    We will tell you all the details shortly, but FIRST………

Actually we had TWO First Commenters yesterday.   Two of our students were RIGHT THERE when we went live……..who were they?

Here’s your reward for being FAST and FURIOUS:

I was one of the TWO First Commenters on the Teaser of May 15, 2018! YAY FOR ME!

DARN DARN DARN! I was hoping to get rid of the dunce cap if I got here FIRST!

Well Stewart you won’t get rid of that dunce cap until you guess one of the TEASERS RIGHT…………it’s not got to do with commenting first – it has to do with not studying your geography!

I’m sure eventually Stewart will be right.   I’m sure ALL of you will be right one of these days.   Stewart is just wrong all the time, forgets his schoolbooks, misses the litterbox in the little boycats restroom, forgets which bus he rides home from school in, and falls asleep in class frequently.   The Dunce Cap seems to fit him purrrrrfectly!

Now, let’s get back to Teaser………….let me show you the photo again from yesterday:

Isn’t this an amazingly interesting photograph of some destination in the sun?   Look at all that boat traffic and all the people……..seems like it’s a MIRAGE rather than a real photo or place but it IS real.   It’s the most interesting and beautiful place known as ISLAMORADA, Florida!   CLICK HERE to find out about this interesting destination.    Not only is that where this is but SEVERAL of our class members KNEW where this was – only ONE was FIRST to guess right though – want to know who???

Timmy’s Dad used to live in Florida and he was familiar with this spot.   A couple of other students had lived before or currently DO live in Florida and THEY knew it as well!    But Timmy – YOU were FIRST so you get this:

I was the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER on the Teaser of May 15, 2018! YAY FOR ME!

I’m SURE our Cheer Team has a fabulous cheer ready for the winners of yesterday’s Teaser.    They never (well……nearly never) let us down……………

The Cheer Team would like to say
We’d love to be on that island in Florida today!
But since we can’t we’ll cheer for our FIRSTIES
Then have a drink cuz we’re thirsty!
Da Phenny and Csilla were FAST
Faster than a space rocket blast!

Who was first to be the RIGHT GUESSER?

We’re telling the truth here and that’s no lie!
Congrats to all who won prizes
Next week we’ll bring more surprises.

Thank you Cheer Team……… always you knocked it out of the park with your cheer.   I’m sure our winners appreciate you putting their names in there and I’ also sure that you all will NOT be traveling to Islamorada courtesy of Ding Dong School.    It’s not in the budget!

I’m sure everyone is just dying to know what Miss Dingleberry and her fabulous Cafeteria Crew have put together for lunch today.    Well, we thought we’d let her wear her fabulous SHARK’S hat and serve up some seafood delights for everyone today!    YAY!
