Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Time for the THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop, hosted by my friend Brian.   We get together via the Hop on Thursdays and talk about how thankful we are for WHATEVER – if you think about it, I know that we ALL have things we’re thankful for.   If you’d like to join in the Hop – click Brian’s badge above and join in.

I don’t have a specific thing to be thankful for this week but I do believe in expressing my thankfulness every single day.   Mom and I have quiet time in the morning together before Dad gets up and one of the things we always do is say a little prayer of thanks for BEING HERE and having a quiet and peaceful life in a comfy home with friends and family.   It’s easy to take things like that for granted.   We hope we NEVER EVER do that.

I’m also thankful that my Angel brother Sammy got through with his wi-fi connection to transmit his Thursday poem to us!    A Thursday without poetry from him AND without reading everyone else’s photo challenge poetry just wouldn’t be as fun!

Here’s what I got from Sammy overnight……….

♥♥♥

Hello everyone………it’s Thursday again and time to share some poetry.   I hope you decided to participate this week whether you’ve written a poem before or not.   It’s a fun thing to do and I try to make it a challenge by giving you a photo every week to use as “inspiration” for your poetry!    So far everyone who is writing a poem is doing an amazing job.    We have some REAL poets out there in blog land and happily some of them are our blog followers.

So, in case you need to see last week’s photo that I gave you to write a poem from, here it is again, followed by my poem.

“Cat Pals”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell    May 31, 2018

Buddies and pals can be quite fun

Having two or three can be more fun than ONE

Someone to play with, or sleep with or cuddle

It’s hard to play football when you’re alone in the huddle!

If something goes wrong, your pal can be there

They can give reassurance, or comb out your hair!

Or clean out your ears, or lick food off your face

Pals don’t want their friends to look like a disgrace!

But some animals are fine being the one and only

If you’ve always been “just one” then you can’t feel lonely

If our humans play with us and talk to us and stuff

Being on our own in the household is not really tough!

We get all the attention, all the treats, all the toys

We can be just as happy, and just as full of real joy

But if one day my humans decide to get me a pet

You’d better believe it’s a CAT they would get !

My Dad was always a dog guy before he met my Mom…………Mom quickly converted him to a cat guy………..and I have to say, both Teddy and I are happy that happened !!

SO, I bet you’re anxious to see the photo that I have for you for NEXT week – but I have to say first that I’m hoping you wrote a poem for TODAY with the kitty photo.  Did you?  If so, tell us in comments and give us your blog link so we can READ it OR if you want, write your poem in our comments to share.

Here’s your challenge photo for NEXT Thursday!

This will be a fun one don’t you think?????   We’ll share what we all come up with next Thursday.   Until then, I will remind you that I am THANKFUL you are our friends.   I’m also THANKFUL if you take up the challenge to express your creativity with a poem – I can promise you it’s not as hard as you might think it is.

Until next week, I’m sending you all Heavenly Hugs from the Rainbow Bridge…………….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Well I can’t top that – so I will just say – see you next Thursday for Thankful and Poetic Thursday!

Love, Teddy

  1. OMG! I can not look at that picture for next week and not see the couple sitting in the pair of bathtubs in that infamous Cialis ad! I guess that kind of free association says a lot about where my mind is…

  2. I have the best of both worlds – I have Binga and Boodie to pal around with most of the time, but then I also get to travel and be my human’s only cat for a few days! Isn’t that cool?

    • It sure is Summer…..and you’re right – you have companionship at home and your human all to yourself on the road AND for your therapy visits too! I’m sure if I had a little brother or sister I’d like it but right now I’m King of the castle…..LOL

    • You’re right Phenny – we need the help of those bipeds in our lives – they feed us, make us comfy, get goodies from the trashure store for us, and make sure we stay healthy!

to quote Da Phenny this am do you want to know a secret? Come closer I will tell you
My MOM was raised with wolfies….yep…. My dad’s family had a cat named John whom mom met shortly after they started dating. Mom’s mom was ‘afraid of cats because one jumped at her one time. So mom never new much about cats until John and then my Uncle’s cats Ursala and Gudrin.
All 3 of them won mom’s heart and then the rest is history.

    • Cats have a way of winning people over if they get a chance to try. My Mom grew up with family dogs and never cats but when she was on her own finally she got a cat and has had kitties ever since! Good for us that our Moms love cats! We just love your poem today – it’s PRECIOUS and fun. You always do such a great job with Angel Sammy’s photo prompts!

  6. Another excellent poem from Sammy. I am glad your Mom converted your Dad to be a cat guy. It is the opposite here, my hubby converted me to a cat person. He actually had both when we met, but I soon discovered the joys of a cat ( or 13). I love the photo for next week. XO

    • Oh gosh my Mom said she didn’t realize that Mr. David converted YOU rather than the other way around. Mom says you two were MADE to be caretakers of kitties – you are so totally dedicated to your 13 lucky kids. Mom and Dad say they love animals of all kinds but I’m glad they settled on kitties for their “housemates” !!!!

    • My Dad had never been around cats before and while dogs are special their own way, cats are special in their own way too only quieter (hahaha) and we think that’s what won Dad over in the end. I’m glad it happened…..!!

    • Marv you know what? It certainly COULD have been you and me before our forevers came along…….I think your forever chance was an AMAZING one – imagine being half a world away in a “not happy” place and now you’re with your Mommy forever in comfort and peace. The world is quite wonderful isn’t it? We are two lucky boys indeed!!!

  11. Sammy did another fantastic job with his poem. We bet he was thinking about “Whiskey” when he wrote it. We love the “lick the food off your face line.” Mom says that next week’s photo might just inspire Mau to write another poem about Cat Scouts. Of course, we did write a poem (two in fact). Here’s the link to our our post: http://www.thecatonmyhead.com/simply-irresistible/ We are super happy and thankful to have you as our friends. • I’ve heard a lot about this “Whiskey” guy at the shelter and while I’m sure it would be fun to “bring up a kid” I do kind of like being the one and only focus for my Mom and Dad too. Who knows – maybe my OLD DAD will change his mind one of these days. If not, then I’ll just gobble up all the love they’ve got for my very own!!! We really did enjoy your poems today – they were PERFECT for the photo. Next week’s photo is rather Cat Scout-ish with possibilities isn’t it. My Mom says she wants to be in one of those chairs with a big glass of wine and no mosquitoes. LOL

  12. That is a great poem, Teddy!

Are you secretly hoping for a furbling??

Petcretary says she wants to go to that cabin…and it brings back the memories of when she was a preteen and her whole family would go ‘to the cottage’, a rented cabin near a big sandy beach in South Eastern Ontario.
