Memorial Day Weekend

Hopping Along on Sunday With Kitties Blue at The Cat On My Head

It’s Sunday which means selfie time!   Our host, “The Cat On My Head” has a wonderful blog hop on Sunday where we can post a selfie and share it!    All you have to do if you want to join us is click on their badge above and fill out the LINKY form – the we can visit you and see how you’re looking this fine FINAL Sunday of May.

Mom did her usual Lunapic “thing” to my selfie………and as I usually am, I was asleep when she snapped it.    With Lunapic she added the “CREEPY” effect, then she added a butterfly frame with Pizap.   Thanks Mom for making it look like I’m dreaming about butterflies – I like them a lot!

Here’s how it turned out………..not too shabby huh?   Looks like a big quilt to me!    A quilted kitty lying on a quilt.    Hope you all have a magnificent Sunday on this 3 day weekend Memorial Day holiday.   Please think about what Memorial Day really is all about…………we know Memorial Day is tomorrow but we’re making it a TWO DAY holiday at my house.

It’s about remembering and honoring all those who serve or have served their country.   All the men and women who helped keep their country strong and free.   For me, this is thinking about my Mom’s father whose photo I see every day when I’m keeping Mom company in her office – also the American flag in a case which she cherishes that was given to her family when her Dad was buried at Arlington Cemetery in 1992.    I didn’t know him but I wish I had…….We’ll be thinking of you this weekend and always Grandpa.

Mom With Her Dad In His Uniform

This is my Grandpa two years before he went to the Bridge, escorting my Mom down the aisle when she married my Dad!

Have a special day of remembering today and tomorrow……………

  1. Creepy! That’s silly. They could have tried to come up with something better than that name. My family was military too and I join you in remembrance today Teddy and Mom. Enjoyed seeing the family picture especially for a joyful occasion like your mom’s marriage. XXX

    • I think I should be insulted that CREEPY is one of Mom’s favorite filters to use on photos of adorable ME! Of course that wedding photo is one of my Mom’s favorites with her Dad. He’d been retired for quite a long time back then and wasn’t sure he’d be able to wear his uniform still but it fit like a glove. Have a super duper Sunday!

    • Mom ALMOST did a puzzle – maybe she still will……….purrrrhaps we’ll it on tomorrow’s Pre-Tease Monday (yep – back to the usual schedule tomorrow!). Mom loves that photo too of her and her Dad….he was not feeling well at all that day but stood straight and tall in his uniform to walk his “baby girl” down the aisle. Hope you all have a beautiful Sunday…….

    • Hi Madi!! I hope you are enjoying a relaxing long weekend with your Mom and Dad? I’m glad you like my selfie today – turned out nicely didn’t it even though that Lunapic effects is called CREEPY I’d like to think I am not at all CREEPY unless it’s on Halloween.

  4. That is a beautiful selfie. It is Anything but creepy. It is beautiful. I will have to check out that filter. Have a great Memorial Day. My flag is going up tomorrow morning. I got it at Pearl Harbor, where my father served in the Navy. I wanted one that had been raised on my parents Anniversary (July 4, 1941), but they didn’t have one from July 4. I managed to get one that had been raised on my Mom’s Birthday (January13).

    • Oh how special about the flags you have! That’s really super. As for the Lunapic filter my Mom used on my photo – I honestly can’t imagine what led them to name that particular filter “CREEPY” – there are some other ones there that are a lot more CREEPY than this one…..haha…..Hope you have a special Memorial Day and thanks for visiting us…..!

  5. That art today is extra special and so gorgeous! One of our favorites ever. It doesn’t look “creepy” at all. We love that photo of Mom Pam and her dad. It really is special. We didn’t know your grandpa is buried in Arlington Cemetery. That’s pretty cool. Sending lots of love to all today. Thanks for being our friends and a faithful hopper. • I always look forward to hopping with you guys on Sundays……..it’s part of our tradition at my house! Glad you liked that CREEPY selfie – who knows why they named that filter creepy because we think it’s more QUILTY than CREEPY! Thanks for hosting the Hop!

  6. That is just beautiful, Teddy – you blend in so well with the background that it looks like you are a part of that fabric. The butterfly frame was the perfect finishing touch.

    • Mom loves this effect a lot because she LOVES quilts so much (and me of course!). Mom’s sister is a quilter and we have tons of her quilts (in fact I this photo I’m napping on one of her flannel quilts) but when Mom tried out that particular effect on Lunapic, it just looked very “quilty” so she used it! Angel Sammy was a butterfly lover and I think I’ve inherited that (!).

  7. I love your selfie! It does look like you were dreaming of beautiful butterflies!

I loved hearing about your mom’s dad who fought in the most justified war ever. I’m glad that the family had the honor of him being laid to rest in Arlington.

    • I love butterflies – my brother I never met, Angel Sammy, the ginger who ruled this home before me (!) LOVED butterflies so much he would lie under Mom’s butterfly bush and just watch them – he never hurt or tried to grab one – he seemed to just enjoy watching them fly with freedom over the flowers. My Mom’s Dad LOVED being in the Air Force and his patriotism was very “out loud” and the reason my Mom has carried that same love in her heart and always will. Have a great weekend!!!!

  8. Although my human didn’t come from a military family, she always remembers what Memorial Day really means, and the importance of those who served. The freedoms we have are precious.

  9. We love the feel of this selfie a lot, the colours and textures are gorgeous. I think with more summer colours it would look wonderful too. Of course, Teddy you always look good, no matter the shade.

    • PS. I wish you a happy Memorial Day. We don’t have that here, at this time of year, but we are globally aware that all freedoms, including the ability to blog, global friendships, have come at price, often in lives.

      • Oh yes ERin……so very true. The price paid for freedom in ANY form is often difficult to bear but we are grateful that there were and still are those who take on the challenge for ALL of us.

    • Mom thought about doing that particular photo of me in two ways – one with the natural colors in the photo and the other this way. We still might do that! Lunapic gives you a choice.
