Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thankful?  Oh yes we are……..always.   I know my Mom and Dad feel like I do – we are thankful to be alive and have so many great friends!    Thursday is the day our host Brian helps all of us celebrate the many things we have to be thankful for in our lives.   If you’d like to tell the world what you are thankful for – just click Brian’s badge above and join in.

I’m especially thankful that even though on Tuesday morning this week I watched my Mom and Dad pack up their stuff and head out the door in the morning that they DID come back the next day – I’m not always sure they will return.   Maybe that’s just the “shelter kitty” in me but I don’t want to be without them because I love them and they love me I’m SURE so we belong together.  But they DID deserve a little break and it WAS a special occasion – an 80th birthday party for my Aunt!    BUT I really am glad my world is happy and I’m THANKFUL that it is.   I hope yours is too?

The other part of today’s post is our OTHER “usual” Thursday thing – being poetic with my Angel brother Sammy.    Every week he sends us a poem of his own based on a photo that he gives us every Thursday – last Thursday’s photo was CLOUDS………shall we see what he did with that one???

Hello poetic friends!   It’s that time again – we’re going to share the poem we wrote during this past week based on the photo “inspiration” I gave you.    I try to find photos that might give you a challenge because it’s fun to exercise your creativity from time to time.   This is just my way of making you “think outside the box” and write a bit of poetry even if you’ve never done it before.    Last week’s photo seemed to me to be a combination of “EASY” and “TOUGH”………..a most simple photo of clouds but you know, lots of people play the game of “what’s that cloud shaped like” when we’re young so I thought it might be a FUN photo subject for all of us!

Here’s last week’s photo followed by MY poem:

“Some Day”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   May 24, 2018

Look up in the sky on a cloudy day

What can you see as they float your way?

If you watch their movement as they change and shift

You can see “things” there as they slowly drift

I see a small angel in the upper right

And an angry face lower left – ready for a fight!

Upper left is a poodle with a pom pom cut

Lower right is a door – maybe entrance to a hut?

Children “cloud watch” as a game as they watch the sky

Giggling and guessing as the clouds drift by

But as you look at the clouds and give them a glance

Remember on clouds Angels do dance

We watch over the world and wait until needed

If bad things happen and warnings aren’t heeded

We are there to comfort and listen and to endeavor

To cover you in wings of love until you join us forever.

Yes – another “Rainbow Bridge” perspective on life and angels and if it makes you think about lying on a blanket on a sunny day as fluffy clouds float by – and make you look for signs that you are NEVER alone then I have done my job with this poem!   Now how about you?  Did you write a poem using the cloud photo as your “springboard” for some poetic fun?   Just leave us your link in my comments so we can read your poem OR write your poem in our comments here……either way, SHARE and have fun with the photo poem challenge.

Here’s your inspiration for NEXT Thursday……………I hope you’ll join me in creating something using this one!

So let’s write a poem about this photo – cute?  Yes, but does it say something ELSE to you other than “cute” ?   Maybe yes maybe no but share your poem with us next week whatever your thoughts OK?  See you then……………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks for another cool poem Angel Sammy………I hope that we have some friends join in the poetry fun………….meanwhile, we all miss you………….

Love, Teddy (and Mom too)

  1. I love to see the shapes in the clouds too. The first thing I saw in this photo was two Angel hands holding up a heart made by the space in the clouds. I see the light as all those angels sending it to us left behind on Earth to let us know that it is beautiful there, and that they are all watching over us.

    • Oh what a lovely VISION you have when you look at the photo – isn’t it wonderful how we all see different things? I love that – our hearts send us in different directions when seeing the SAME thing.

      Hugs, Pam

  2. Teddy, I’m sure you were SO excited when your pawrents returned from their trip! And I bet they couldn’t wait to hug you! Angel Sammy’s poem about the clouds was wonderful, and yes, that’s a cute photo for next week’s poetry challenge!
    Love, Sundae

  3. We don’t like it much when the peeps leave us either Teddy but we’re sure happy when they return. We enjoyed the poem too. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

    • We loved your sweet poem……I think a lot of the poets this week had heavenly thoughts with that photo as inspiration. Wonder how next week will turn out?!?!?! Tee Hee Thank you for being a regular poet with us on Thursdays………..

      Love, Teddy

  4. I’m sure the angel wins efurry fight… and he is the one who can turn efurry angry face into a smiling one…. it is amazing what different things we see while watching the clouds… and as soon as one of us comes up with an idea we can see the same thing… maybe we can use this magic connection in gernaly for our daily life?

    • Well one thing is for sure…….finding a comfy chair or blanket to observe the clouds flying by is WAY more relaxing than sitting on the computer all day long !!!! If everyone would STOP, RELAX, and think of everyone ELSE instead of themselves for a while the whole world could change!!!!!

  5. Love your poem! You are so very talented! We are also thankful that your mom and dad returned from their trip 😉 Hope they had a good time!

    • Oh yes indeed my parents enjoyed their one little night away from ME – I’ve heard them talking about being gone FOUR DAYS next trip – that means “kennel” instead of me being able to have a wild bachelor party like I did this time around – oops – maybe I shouldn’t have said that! Angel Sammy says thanks for the compliment on his poem… are SWEET!

    • Your poem this week is AMAZING. Clouds are so magical and so many of us found that out early in life by being cloud-watchers….but crafting an entire world for your story is a talent that is rare and YOU HAVE IT. Thanks for always making us smile – I bet next week’s photo will inspire some FUN too!!

      Love, Teddy

    • Well Angel Kali is still adjusting at the Bridge – you know it takes a while…..we have to have our wings fitted by the wing-tailor, we have to make sure our cloud is decorated JUST the way we want it, we have to make sure the lines of communication to our loved ones back home are still open………but I have no doubt that Angel Kali could write a hum-dinger of a poem if she put her mind to it!

  6. I usually do not post on Thursdays, but when I saw that picture I right away thought of a poem I composed when I was in 10th grade…eons ago, about the age of 14 maybe 15. I had just heard that my Opa had passed away and was standing outside on a very dark and clouded day…
So I will share said poetry with you here instead…

Petcretary wrote a poem for a real sky like that once…

I saw the Heavens open once,
    God’s glory was in view.
Twas though a thousand lights were lit,
But God shines bright, I knew.

    Each cloud then slowly disappeared,
And all the Heavens I saw.
Twas then I realized all God does,
    Is done without one flaw.

(IR, 1970, rev 2005; original written after the sudden passing away of my dear Opa/Grandpa)

    • We love that poem – it’s really beautiful – we just saw it on 15andMeowing and thought it was really perfect for the cloud photo Angel Sammy gave us last week!!

      Hugs, Teddy

  7. We’re glad your mom and dad had a nice time….and that they weren’t gone for too long. We know you’d miss them…as much as they would miss you.

Another fabulous poem from Angel Sammy!

  8. I don’t think I would like it if my human packed a suitcase and left without me! My human’s boyfriend does it so often we are used to it, and he always comes back after a few days (except when he goes to Europe, then it can be a few weeks). I’m glad your humans came back promptly!

I wanna know what YOU've got to say!!
