Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

I’m THANKFUL it’s Thursday!   Time to join Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop – you can do the same – click the badge above and you’re IN!    We share what we’re thankful for each week.   I’m always thankful for everything I have in my home – humans who love me, all the food I can eat (and more), lots of nap spots, toys, – well, just EVERYTHING anyone could possibly ask for.   That’s a lot to be thankful for but I truly am.    I love living here and feel so much love from my Mom and Dad.

I am also thankful that my big brother Angel Sammy sends us some poetic fun every week………he may be at the Rainbow Bridge, but he never lets any of us down when we need him – and on Thursday it’s HIS day to share a poem he’s written to go with the photo he give us as inspiration every week.   I got his email last night – just before he settled in for the night on his Cloud at the Bridge……….here’s what he sent.

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!    It’s Thursday again………..days whiz by don’t they – they do that at the Bridge too but we’re all so super busy sometimes we don’t notice.   I have friends up here who remind me that it’s time to do my poem every week or I’d probably forget!     As you all know, the whole idea about Poetic Thursday is that I give you a photo every week and you come up with a poem that the photo has inspired in you……what did the photo make you feel or think about or what do you “see” in your mind’s eye when you study the photo.   Whatever you want to do with the photo it’s YOURS to be creative with.    It’s not so hard to write a poem – they can be short or long, they can rhyme or not – it’s just a way to EXPRESS yourself and it’s fun.   Give it a whirl.

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST week………..and it’s followed by MY poem to share with you!   If you have written a poem let us know in my comments here and we’ll come read it OR you can even write your poem HERE in our comments!    Ready?

Before I do my poem let me just say that this photo is so very cool.   It’s one of the new “tiny houses” that lots of people are moving into and giving up their BIG houses for when they really just don’t need that much room.   This one is on wheels too so you can take it with you ANYWHERE – like a camper only a house!   If you get tired of your view, you can take it somewhere else.   VERY VERY cool.    Anyway, here’s my poem:

“Living Small”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     May 17, 2018

I’ve heard the term “living large”

But I won’t be the one to lead the charge

I think we don’t really need all that space

“Large” doesn’t fit my preferred life’s pace.

A little house on wheels, what a deal!

Who needs 10 rooms, that’s got NO appeal

Just enough space to make a meal and sleep

No big mortgage to get in debt too deep!

Room for me, Mom, Dad and Teddy

If I was back on Earth, I’d always be ready

We’d travel around and see so much!

Or we’d live in a field full of flowers to touch!

Or by a stream with water and fish

It truly would be my fondest wish………..

Some humans think they need so much room

But you don’t need space for your imagination to bloom!

Small, cozy places with those you love best

Is the REAL definition of a true LOVE NEST !

Oh I think it would be fun to live in that little house…………Mom says it would also make a great little garden shed, or art/craft studio………or even a little “pool house” but really and truly, a TINY house could truly be a home.   Scale down life and make things more simple.    Yep – works for me!

So would you like to see the photo I picked out for you for next week’s poetry challenge?

I bet you have some pretty cool thoughts about THIS ONE don’t you?   I know I sure do…………………………………………

So, is it a date?   Will you come back next Thursday to visit and let us know you wrote a poem for this photo?   I will be here waiting to read it.   Meanwhile, have a great week ahead.   I will spend mine keeping an eye on my little brother Teddy and my Mom and Dad and everyone else that I love………..that’s YOU!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy…………….I love your poem this week and I just bet I will love your poem NEXT week.    I hope everyone will join us in writing a poem for your poetry challenge.   I really, truly do!

Big Hugs from Teddy to you……….

  1. I dunno, my human would probably go crazy in a house that small… she is all about having 10 rooms and having lots of space! But then, she and her boyfriend both have their businesses in our home – his guitars and amps and such, and my human with her publishing business and photo equipment.

  2. Wonderful poem, yet again, Angel Sammy! We love the pic for next week, too. And Sammy… we are such fortunate kitties to have our wonderful homes and pawrents!

    • I’m sure Sammy will enjoy seeing your comment about his poem today. That little house is so darn cute and we’ve already read a lot of GREAT poems from other participants so THEY thought it was inspiring too I guess!

      Happy Thursday!

  3. Bravo bravo Angel Sammy what a wonderful poem written from your heart. Cozy living is for sure what it is all about. Mom really likes to watch the Tiny House series on HGTV. They are very clever at organizing and making each inch work but she never understands how more than 1 person could live in one comfortably. I think it would make a purrfect itty bitty kitty house.
Hugs Madi and mom and OMCs next week’s photo is gonna be tough

    • We don’t have cable or HGTV but lots of peeps have said it’s a totally cool program. I just like looking at the houses – we googled “tiny houses” and I would live in ANY OF THEM!!!!!! Next week’s photo is a toughie and I think maybe Angel Sammy snapped that one himself from his cloud looking down at us all!

  4. That is a great poem from Angel Sammy. I think small houses are cute, but my cats would be fighting a lot in a house that small. It would make a great place to write or a guest house though. I love the art your Mom made with your photo Teddy. XO

    • WE love love love your poem!!! Tiny houses – it’s fun to see the ones that pop up when you google tiny houses. Yes they are small BUT for some people I think it’s all the space they need.

  5. That is a cute little house, and you know the best thing? Less cleaning! You are right of course Angel Sammy, we don’t need huge houses, just each other.

    • Mom was thinking about less cleaning and she’s always loved “cozy” spaces – this couldn’t be any cozier! She said Dad could have HIS little house and she could have hers – with me of course – Tee Hee. Seriously though, Mom says we just do NOT need our big house. We need something smaller – maybe not THIS small but smaller………..

  6. Teddy, we have no doubt that your mom and dad are just as thankful for you as you are for them. You are all so blessed to have each other. Angel Sammy, we just love the photo you chose for this week, and your poem suits it so well. Scaling down life sure sounds like the way to do it. If 3 kitties and a certain 70-lb pup could all fit into one, we’d be living a happy, humble life in a tiny home. We can’t wait to get started on next week’s poem!

    • Hi Miss Lorianne! Glad you liked Angel Sammy’s “little blue house” photo for this week – it seems to have brought a lot of great inspiration for those who are participating in the poetry challenge that’s for sure especially your wonderful “story”. We think next week’s photo ought to be equally interesting!!!

    • Oh Siddhartha that’s a very cute poem! I think it would be super special to have a little mouse as a friend…..kind of like that story about the lion and the mouse – we can all be friends if we want to be – we can all get along together! I wish humans would think like that too and there would be a lot less problems in the world!!!

    • Oh my goodness that’s a wonderful haiku for the “little blue house” photo! It’s true….the richest of men are those who are loved vs. those who live in a castle. THINGS aren’t as important as what we have in our hearts. We love you all because you have BIG HEARTS!!!!! Thanks for doing a haiku this week for Sammy’s challenge. I am being as bad a boy as I can get away with (tee hee) – I like to keep my old humans on their toesies so I act like a madman most of the time around here. Mom and I sent all of you big hugs……………..

  9. What an amazing photo that is for next week!!! We loved your poem too. In Kansas City, a group has constructed a whole bunch of “little” houses just like that, but not on wheels, for homeless veterans. The veterans have to agree to a whole bunch of rules and then they can live in the small houses for up to a year. So far it has been a huge success. People helping people always is a good thing.

    • That’s a wonderful idea to help veterans out! Having a roof over their head instead of being homeless allows them to get themselves “together” and have some pride in having a home…..it can do miracles and I’m sure it’s proving to be the case in KC. You’re right – people helping people is ALWAYS a wonderful and special thing!

  10. Teddy, you have such a good home. So much to be thankful for. Sammy, we don’t think we would want to live in a tiny house. No room to play ThoE!

    • Gosh that’s probably true…..you do have quite a collection of critters. At least since the house is so small it wouldn’t take TOO long to fill it with shelves so you’d have wall to wall “theater” space for the crew!

  12. Hiya Angel Sammy and Teddy, we loved your poem it was EPIC dudes and actually that tiny house looks about the size of our summer house, now that would be an interesting scenario, don’t think we’d fit all our cat food and litter in it. I think we’d have to bolt another few on! MOL

    • Hello again! Glad you enjoyed Angel Sammy’s poem – it as a very cool photo to play around with but next week’s is a WHOPPER don’t you think? As for the little blue house – I told Mom it would make a very nice BACHELOR PAD for me but she didn’t like that idea – she says I’m too young for BACHELOR STUFF. What’s that mean? Tee Hee
