A Mother’s Day Remembrance and Celebration!

Happy Mother’s Day!    We are joining up with The Cat On My Head to celebrate SELFIE SUNDAY but because of the special occasion, our selfie isn’t of ME, it’s of my Grandmom who I sadly never got to know.     My Mom’s Mom passed away in 2001 so I never met her.    My Mom says she remembers her Mom told her that she was often mistaken for some movie star when she was the age she was in this photo.   That’s a nice compliment if you ask me!    We think this photo was taken WAY long ago – even before she met my Mom’s Dad.    The photo above was found in my Grandmom’s jewelry box after she passed away and it looked like it had been cut out of a larger photo or maybe a yearbook?   We don’t know.

    • Thanks for coming by on Mother’s Day! Hope it’s a special day around your house too……..glad you liked seeing my Mom’s Mom’s photo…..it’s an oldie but for a human bean I’d say she was a pretty one!!

  3. Such a sweet post today, Teddy! Your Mom’s mom DOES look like a movie star, and Motor Mommy says she sees the resemblance to your Mom. And the pics of your mom with her sweet baby boys…. well, my mommy just thinks your Mom is the bestest.

    • Oh Sundae, please tell your Mom that my Mom appreciates all the compliments……my Mom thinks she looks just like her Dad but people often say they see “some” of her Mom in there too. LOL I hope you are giving your Mom lots of special hugs and attention today for Mom’s Day!!!

  4. TEDDY! When mom looked at your Grandma’s picture she immediately thought that she looked like Ginger Rogers! Your grandma is gorgeous and glamorous. Seriously…mom’s thought went straight to Ginger Rogers the second she saw that.

    • I can’t remember who Mom said she was mistaken for – maybe it was Ginger Rogers…..I just googled “old time movie stars” looking at “images” and didn’t see ANY of them I thought looked like my Mom. Maybe she was just teasing us kids back then???!!! I always thought my Mom was beautiful – I remember watching her get all dressed up for some big party/dance at the Officers Club with my Dad and I thought she looked like a fairy princess.

    • Madi and her Mom thought she looked a bit like Ginger Rogers too……my Mom doesn’t think that’s who her Mom said she was mistaken for but we are going to see if my Aunt knows or remembers!!!

    • Thank you Kosmo and Kristiina! I wish I could remember which filmstar she said she was told she resembled……..oh well……I actually always thought of my Mom (when I was a little girl) as a “fairy princess” when she’d get all dressed up to go out to a party with my Dad. LOL

    • Yep – my Mom has a touch of that too (!) but we do hope that even though you aren’t celebrating the day, you know that being Summer’s Human is a very important and wonderful thing. I know she loves you and you love her……..and that’s the spirit of Mom’s/Caretaker’s Day! ❤ ❤ ❤

  20. Wow, Teddy, your grandmom really was gorgeous. We can understand why she was mistaken for a movie star. How fun to see her photo. Mom has never thought of posting her mom’s photo. I guess ’cause she died over 50 years ago. The collage with both you and Sammy and Mom Pam is terrific. Our mom and all of us are wishing Mom Pam a wonderful Mother’s Day.     • Thanks for the compliment on my Grandmom’s photo…..My Mom has always loved this photo even though we don’t know many details of when/where. Guess that doesn’t matter really. She’s part of who my Mom is today. We had a grand celebration of “MOM” here yesterday. I got her a card, Dad got her some Godiva, and I let Mom take me outside for walks a whole lot (she likes that so it’s sort of a gift to her….well…sort of). I hope that you all enjoyed yours too??

  23. Hope your Mom had a very nice Mother’s Day, Teddy. Your Mom’s Mom was beautiful… a sweet Remembrance. We spent the day going through old photos sorting out what to keep and what to let go. It took a long time! Loving the two pictures of you and your Mom! Your Mom looks a lot like her Mom!

    • It’s tough going through old photos and weeding them out. My Mom needs to do that…..she’s got a big box full and it will be a bittersweet thing to do (cleaning them out) but I suppose some “memories” don’t need to be in a photo – they remain in the heart! Nice of you to say my Mom looks like HER Mom but she really looks more like her Dad – she’s got her Dad’s bone structure and feet and hands and strangely (!) his HAIRLINE! LOL

    • Thanks! She was what they called “a looker” alright…….my Mom says to her she was a fairy princess. My Mom looks like her Dad though – she didn’t get any of that fairy princess stuff!! LOL
