Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!    Today’s my double purpose blog post………….first half I’m being THANKFUL for something and sharing it in the Blog Hop hosted by Brian and second half is Angel Sammy’s Poetry Challenge.     First up though is being THANKFUL.   Brian hosts this Thursday Hop and you can join in if you click his badge above and add your link!    What am I thankful for today?   I’m VERY thankful that I have been allowed to be an indoor AND outdoor kitty thanks to my “Kitty Holster” harness.    It keeps me calm and when I’m wearing it, I don’t RUN RUN RUN like I do if Mom decides to “unharness” me.    I have learned to be the perfect front porch guard which is what Sammy used to do.   I’m thankful he taught me that by whispering in my ear from the Rainbow Bridge.  He’s my Guardian Angel you know!

Now for the second part of my Thursday blog post, I will “cut and paste” Angel Sammy’s email transmission to me last night………………he has great wifi at the Bridge and sends us his Poem and message every single Thursday.   Ready?   Let’s see what kind of poem he did this week.

♥♥♥

Hello Poetry Friends (and non-poetry friends too!)

Thursday means poetry.    I gave you all a photo last week and your mission was to spend a week thinking about the photo and what it made you think of or feel and then writing a poem about the photo!   It’s fun.  You should TRY it if you haven’t joined us yet!     Then you can post it on your blog and tell us you did a poem giving us the link to it in our comments here so we can read it – OR you can write your poem in my comments!!    Easy Peasy right?    The photo I gave you last week to think about is below along with MY poem………

“Creatures From the Black Lagoon”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    May 10, 2018

Eons and ages and centuries ago

When the earth was a much more primitive place

There were creatures of mammoth size you know….

With “not necessarily friendly” face!

They’d lumber around shaking the trees and ground

Their size was absolutely monumental!

Some roared with ferocity but some made tiny sounds

Like their voices were almost experimental!

They dominated the world until humans appeared

And they were stalked and hunted for their meat

The humans had weapons so they had to be feared

Conquering their size was quite a feat.

Eventually the dinosaurs disappeared

The world began to change

Other animals more tame and less feared

Began to roam the range

Humans made friends with smaller species of cat

Not as fierce as the tiger called sabertooth

Domestic and spoiled and THAT was THAT

And this story of mine is THE TRUTH!!

Ha ha……bet you didn’t see THAT coming right?    Well it was a fun poem to do……….and I hope you enjoyed looking at those dinosaurs and coming to some sort of brilliant idea about what to write – come on – share!    If I can do it so can you!    If you didn’t write one for THIS photo – maybe this photo which is NEXT week’s challenge photo will appeal to you.   Give poetry a try.

I love this photo………..I hope it will inspire you in some way to write a poem about it for NEXT Thursday!   Until then, remember that I love all of you and miss all of you – and if you look up at the ceiling right before you fall asleep you just might see the flicker of Angel wings – it may be your own Angel or who knows – it might be ME stopping by to say goodnight.

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

    • Oh I love that front porch. I love being outside in the fresh air watching all the birds, squirrels (especially squirrels!) and even kids riding by on the street way down below…..it’s a great spot to GUARD my house too!

  2. Oh there you are looking FINE on the front porch! I know there aren’t very close passersby to see you, but if there were…my goodness, you’d have your furs smooched off. Mom saw the still life of the kitty off to your right in the picture. I imagine that is a nod to Angel Sammy. 💗 I love the poem, Teddy. All our loves.

    • I’m glad you like the front porch – it’s my domain – willed to me by my Angel brother! Glad you like Sammy’s poem – I do too. I think of myself as a sabertooth tiger of the TINY TYPE like the TINY HOUSE for next week’s poetry challenge. Mom says she would like to live in that house – wonder where Dad would live????!!!!!

    • Well I suppose we actually DO have some of that saberteeth/tooth in us – we are ALL kitties of one size or another…..GRRRRRR……I like my harness a lot BUT Mom says I should have a lighter weight one for summer. Sounds like she’s gonna be shopping!! The tiny house is so adorable isn’t it? Mom says if she was a camper THAT’s the only kind of “tent” she’d want and it also would make a cute garden house. To tell you the truth, she said she would love to LIVE in one of the new “tiny houses”…..maybe this is just a TAD small but something less than a 3 story house like we have would be less room to have to clean too! HAHAHAHA

I love that tiny house. That would help one declutter. When you wanted to move just hook it up and off you go.

Have a purrfect day. My best to your peeps. ♥

  9. Love that photo of you on your pretty front porch! I must talk to the Female Human about that Kitty Holster Harness. I have no issues with the harness thingy she has me wear when we go for walks but there are a few of my Tribe Members who go completely crazy when she tries to put the harness on them.

  10. It might have been fun to run all around those big creatures and play hide and seek, but we might have to be very careful not to get stepped on. And yes, we are with Phenny, those would be quite the toofers to brush:)

    • I think he did too Cupcake…..he told me how impawtant it was to keep my Mom and Dad safe and to look fierce when I needed to or extra soft and sweet when I wanted to with the neighbor kids. He whispers stuff in my ear all the time to keep me on the path to being a good caretaker of house, home and humans! I know you do a fine job of making sure your Mom is writing every day and taking you to the park to have fun……I guess we all do our part don’t we?!

  12. Oh, what a precious photo of you, Teddy! We bet your mom and dad just love having you sit with them on the porch and guard the house. Angel Sammy taught you so many great things. Speaking of sweet Angel Sammy, what a magnificent poem! We really loved the twist at the end. As usual, the photo for next week is fantastic, and we can’t wait to get started on this poem. Purrs! • Mom and Dad are retired so home all the time otherwise I wouldn’t have as many “OWWA” occasions as I do. That’s what I scream politely ask at the front door to do when I want to go outside. Mom puts my jacket on and out we go with Dad trailing behind. Time for a summer coat though I think!

        • Siddhartha I got out of my holster once but Mom says it was her fault that I did. She didn’t have it on me as tight as usual that day. She says “live and learn” if the neck opening isn’t closed ENOUGH, we can back right out of the holster!! Probably in summer it will just be too hot for you with the holster AND a sweater or t-shirt. Ask Ladymum to make sure your neck Velcro is “snug” !!
