Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Hello and Happy Thursday!    Today we start off with being THANKFUL on Brian’s Blog Hop.   We all share something we are thankful for and let’s face it – we are all thankful for SOMETHING right?    Want to join us?  Please do – click his badge above and fill out the LINKY tool and you’re in!    Thanks Brian for hosting this.

Today I will say that I’m very thankful my Dad indulges me in my need to go outside.   A perfect example of just how special that is to me is today it’s raining like MAD – you  might say it’s raining cats and dogs in fact!

So you might expect that Dad would say “nope – not taking you out in the pouring rain – that’s crazy!”……………instead he put on his raincoat and rain boots and out we went.  He figured I wouldn’t go further than the covered front porch but he was WRONG.    I did go out in the pouring rain and ran all over the place getting absolutely DRENCHED.    He stayed under the roof of the porch until I wandered a bit far afield then he came down into the pouring rain WITH me and stayed with me.    After about 15 minutes even I had had enough.    Mom laughed when she opened the front door and wrapped me in a big old towel and gave me a rubdown.    Dad was just happy to get back in the warmth!     But I had to say that VERY FEW Dads or Moms would have done that – wouldn’t you say?    I mean it’s probably one thing if you HAVE to go outside in a pouring rain to do your business but I wanted to out there to PLAY.    Dad let me.   WOO HOO FOR DAD.

Now I guess you want to know if Angel Sammy sent me his poem for today and I must say OF COURSE HE DID!   Has he ever let us down?   Nope!   Here’s what he sent.

Time for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday!

Here we are yet again everyone – and I do hope you wrote a poem to share for today like I did.   I know it’s “just another thing in the week” having a poetry day but I am hoping that more of you will pawticipate since it’s just so much fun.    My sincere thanks (and a hug) to all of you who are writing a poem every week based on the photo I give you the week before.    I gave you a rather interesting photo last week don’t you think?   It was somewhat MAGICAL in feel and I bet you felt it too – I’m sure it reflects in your poems.    Here’s the photo you had to think about and write about followed by my poem:

“Magic Tree”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     April 26, 2018

An ancient old tree with arms spread wide

Plenty of holes for squirrels to hide

Time seems to have passed you by

As you reached your arms up towards the sky

Creatures you have held in your welcome embrace

Shelter and comfort, offering such a safe place

Storms, and winds and lightning strikes and hail

Have tried to batter you but to no avail

Your strength has kept you from an ending so tragic

I am absolutely sure you are a tree of MAGIC!

I wonder how many of you studied this photo closely and noticed one particular detail high up in the tree branches on the right side of the picture…………facing the sun is a cardinal………..and I would be willing to bet you it was thinking “this is MY tree and I feel the magic!”…………of course that tree can hold dozens of birds, squirrels, and all other manner of critters but for that cardinal all that matters is the magic moment facing the sun when the tree is ALL HIS!

If you wrote a poem be sure and tell us in comments here on Teddy’s blog……….OR you can even write your poem in our comments!    Just be sure and share……….we love reading your work.

How about next week?    I’m sure you can’t wait to see what photo I’m going to give you to spark your imaginations for another poem………….here it is:

Love that face……………this will be another great one to write a poem about…….It was nice visiting with you again my friends………I hope you will join me next week in sharing a poem.   I know you see a lot in this guy’s face.    Tell us all about it in a poem!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love and Hugs, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy……..The face I love seeing the most is YOURS!    I wish it was here in purrrrrson so we could nap and play together but I know one day we will do that so I’ll be patient – I have a long life to live taking care of our Mom and Dad!

Hope to see all of you next Thursday as we are THANKFUL and POETIC together.

Love, Teddy

Me and Dad on a NICE SUNNY day (not like today for sure!)

  2. Aw, your dad loves you to pieces, Teddy! So sweet of him to indulge you your outside time AND, of course, your mommy drying your fur when you come back inside. Yes, you are so LOVED!
Motor Mommy and I loved Angel Sammy’s poem today! And that’s a very special picture for next week’s inspiration.

    • Absolutely LOVE your poem this week – it’s fabulous and you saw magic there too – if you keep looking at it you see more and more interesting little surprises……….Thanks for joining us every week for poetry fun – it really IS fun to see what others see/feel when they look at a picture isn’t it?

    • I remember when I found that photo online it took me a while to see the cardinal because the entire picture was so fascinating and detailed with amazing things that I started at the bottom and worked up to the top – that’s when I saw it and the first thought was you would LOVE IT. Teddy has always loved the rain – it doesn’t stop him for a second. David was a sweetie to go out there with him – Ted must have one of us with him always out there of course and no way was I going to go out – it was raining fairly hard! YAY FOR DAD!

    • I’m a lucky guy aren’t I? My Dad was drenched right along with me but we had some guy fun out there (until I had to come in and get the rub down from Mom with a big old towel anyway!).

  4. Teddy, now you know why that word “spoiled” is part of the title of your blog. Your humans love you so much (just like they did Sammy) and are willing to do anything for you…no matter how much it “pains” them. You are a lucky little Bean. Mom says she hadn’t noticed the cardinal in the tee, but she bets Mom Sharon did. That tree IS magical as is angel Sammy’s poem. Mom is still hoping to write about it. Sending lots of love to all. • I truly am spoiled and loving every second of it. Angel Sammy had told me that if I just be CUTE that spoiled would be part of the package and it sure is. Tee Hee The cardinal in the tree was something my Mom saw right away when she found that photo and KNEW Miss Sharon would love it – we do too – there’s a lot in this photo – messages and magic both. Next week’s old man photo is very interesting too and we’re sure there will be some wonderful words written about it but that tree photo is one my Mom will always remember.

    • Oh my! That’s a really WONDERPURR poem! Well done…..and sorry there was one of those BURDS in it but it was at least TINY and didn’t detract from the rest of the picture which was DY-NO-MITE in the “magical” department. Mom was pretty excited when she found it and thought it would be WAY FUN for poetry day. I love that your poem was FROM the tree to Mom Nature – I imagine trees are happy to be trees – they live so long and endure EVERYTHING. I’d say that’s VERY brave!!

      Happy Friday and weekend too….

  6. That tree has much to tell us…and at first petcretary thought that it was a door to secret hiding place in the tree trunk, but its a tunnel! Paved with golden pavers to the land where your imagination is all that you can want it to be!
That cardinal knows how to make himself stand out!

    • It’s an incredible picture – I think the coolest thing is that each of us sees what we want to see in it…..everyone had something different to say but almost everyone noticed that happy cardinal in the sun…..It was a good poetic inspiration – we had some wonderful poetry written with that photo as inspiration by our friends. Next week’s ought to be interesting too!

  7. Angel Ciara used to love to stay out in the rain in the summer, but not in the winter. Mom would go crazy because she had such a thick coat, it was almost impossible to get Ciara dry.

We loved your poem about the tree of magic – and that cardinal at the top was such a nice touch.

    • I was not too happy about having to have the towel routine when I came in after playing in the rain BUT it was worth it! Not sure my Dad felt the same way (haha) but he let me have my way – gotta love a guy like that! The tree and the entire artwork picture were rather amazing – Mom saw that and said “THAT’S IT” when we were looking for a photo – we also think the man in the black/white photo for next week is rather interesting too…….

    • I know Cupcake! Imagine going out to get WET when I don’t have to but I do love being in the rain. I would hate being stuck in a bathtub for a bath but the rain is kinda fun. Maybe if it was really a HARD rain I’d pass but light to moderate stuff is kinda tickly on the skin!

  9. Your dad deserves the #1 Dad award, Teddy! I must say, you are far braver and more tolerant than our pup around here. She has to go outside to do her business, but if it’s pouring down rain, she’ll hold it for hours and hours just to avoid getting wet. Now, Angel Sammy, that was a fantastic poem! We absolutely loved this magical image you chose, and it was so fun to write a poem to go with it. Thank you for always hosting this wonderful challenge!

    • Teddy actually went out again this morning in a rain that was practically in FLOOD range! It was a monumental rain event and did that stop him? NO! This time OLD MOM went out with an umbrella and shepherded the ginger WET boy around the yard for about ten minutes until it was just plain STUPID to stay out there. I couldn’t juggle HIM and the umbrella to bring him in so I put my umbrella down, picked big boy up soaking wet and was drenched when I reached the porch to toss him inside while I retrieved my umbrella. Guess that officially makes both his Dad and me CRAZY! Glad you like the poetry challenge – you know how much we like your entries – and we are quite looking forward to next week’s poems – love the guy’s expressive face! The magic tree is one of my all-time favorite images……
