An Interview and Fill-Ins Too!

It’s a Double Blog Day!   Something NEW and something OLD

HUH?   What are you talking about Teddy?!    Well, today I’m starting my blog post off not with the Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop but with a special INTERVIEW from yours truly, intrepid reporter Teddy with my guest and good friend Gracie who is the power behind the throne known as THE TABBY CAT CLUB!     Yep – there IS a club just for tabbies and Gracie started it.    I am proud to say that both Angel Sammy and I are members of this group and I thought YOU might like to know about the Club (if you’re a Tabby you for sure want to know – right???!!!).

READY?

(my adoring audience!)

Welcome Gracie!   We’re excited to have you with us this morning!

Here’s Gracie with her Mom Miss Stephanie! (CLICK GRAPHIC TO VISIT GRACIE’S BLOG)

I have a lot of questions to ask you and I think we should start with the basics.    (Gracie’s answers in green!)

  1. Gracie please tell our viewers why you created the Tabby Cat Club and how long it’s been around?

When I first started blogging in the fall of 2009 I started visiting and making new friends. While doing this I could that there was a club called The Tuxedo Cats and another one for the calico cats. I kept looking to see if could find a club for tabby cats. I kept looking and asking my friends if they knew of such a club, I was told there was no such club. That is when I decided to start up The Tabby Cat Club. The first post for The Tabby Cat Club was November 15, 2011. Now after over 7 years, 138 members, and 2,416 posts we are still active and growing.   I brought a poster showing the Club when we reached 100 members:

  1. What are the requirements to join?

It’s EASY to join!   Here’s what’s required:

  1.  You must be a tabby cat – What is a Tabby?  The tabby pattern is a naturally occurring feature that may be related to the coloration of the domestic cat’s direct ancestor, the African Wildcat, which (along with the European Wildcat and Asiatic Wildcat) has a similar coloration. There are four tabby patterns that have been shown to be genetically distinct: Mackerel, Classic, Spotted, Patched and Ticked.
  2.  You must have a blog
  3.  Your human must be 16 years of age
  4.  You will need to email me. The link is on the sidebar of the club blog   (gracie1915@frontier.com)
  5.  You will need to send in your email to me a full body photo of you
  6.  You will need to let me know what your name is so I can make you a TCC badge
  7.  You need to tell me if you are a girlcat or boycat
  8.  You will need to send me your blog link
  9.  You will need to let me know your birthday date and gotcha day date
  10.  I will need the name of your human. This will be kept private. It helps the mom here know who is who.

  1. Can you please tell us what kinds of things the Club is involved in or does for fun?

The list of events hosted at the Tabby Cat Club is endless. Here are SOME of our typical fun times at the club ~ celebrating birthdays, holidays, going on many trips (in the USA or traveling abroad), posting embarrassing photos of our humans, telling secrets about ourselves, helping friends in need of prayers, and many many many more.   Here’s a poster of us enjoying a trip to Paris!

  1. Why should tabbies join up?

There are many reasons for joining the TCC. You get to meet other tabby cats and can share information with our humans about our healthcare, favorite foods, new products, fun toys and ideas to keep us happy cats.  The best thing is meeting and making new friends. Sometimes even the humans become good friends as well as us Club members!  Two of my mom’s best friends are tabby moms that met through the club.

  1. What kinds of activities do you have coming up at the Club in the near future?

There are already new events starting at the club this month!  On the second Wednesday of the month we will have “Wordless Wednesday” and on the fourth Wednesday of the month we will have “Caption This.” We will also be planning on some trips abroad, heading to the Indianapolis 500, having a big Super Bowl Party, and a Mad Hatter Tea Party. These are just a few of the things to come and many more will be  planned. Our great graphic designer, Angel Sammy, creates participation badges for Members that participate in our special events and they are fun to collect as proof that we’ve “been there/done that” at our Club.   Here are a couple of examples of our participation badges:

  1. Do you have a Facebook page or is the Club associated with any other social media?

Currently we don’t have a Facebook page but we are planning to start one up for the Tabby Cat Club soon.

  1. How do you plan and organize so many events?

It takes many tabby cats to run the club and I am so fortunate as the founder of the club to have two special tabby cats to help run things, Raz, Events Coordinator; and Angel Sammy, Events Graphics & Administrator.

Well Gracie, you’ve given everyone a lot of information about the Tabby Cat Club, and as I said earlier, Angel Sammy and I can vouch for the fact that it’s a fun club so I hope that having you as my special guest today will get some of our Tabby friends interested in contacting you to join up!    Oh – I wanted to show our audience my TCC badge so you will see what Gracie will make for you when you become a member!

Thank you Gracie!   And Tabby audience members – join up today!

Now for PART TWO of my post today which is the Friendly Fill-Ins.     As you all know by now, this is a fun hop co-hosted by my friends Annie of McGuffy’s Reader and Ellen of 15andMeowing.   They each five us TWO sentences each week with blanks in them and we fill those blanks in – what do we accomplish???  Well we learn a whole lot of fun stuff about each other – that’s what!  If you’d like to join in our fun every week (or even just today!) – just click the badge above and fill out the LINKY form at McGuffy’s Reader.   You’ll be one of the IN-CROWD then with your fill-in post.

This week I thought I’d fill in the sentences all by myself instead of letting Mom do it!

1. New treats  are fun to try.

2. I love to nap on the beds in the master bedroom AND the guest room too!

3. When I was a child, I loved to play chase the red dot and since I’m STILL a child, I STILL love it!

4. One time, I got to chase a bunny rabbit in the backyard that was almost as big as I am but Mom caught up to me and the monster bunny got away.

That last fill-in is true too – we do see bunnies around from time to time but this one was BIG.   Mom and I were on a walk and I was on my harness/leash and I was pulling so HARD when I saw the monster bunny (which she didn’t see) that she lost the leash from her hand and off I went!   Probably it wasn’t as BIG as I thought it was at the time…….but it was bigger than most of the bunnies we see.   Who could resist that?   Not me!    I never did see that one again though.    Sadly most of the bunnies around here get caught by hawks or foxes.

Thanks for sticking with us through this super long post.   Don’t forget to check out the Tabby Cat Club if you are a Tabby – we have fun there…..!

Hugs, Teddy

  1. It was lovely to meet Gracie. The tabby cat club sounds lots of fun!

You were only going to invite the bunny to play weren’t you, Teddy? 😉

      • The very BEST thing about the Club is that you don’t have to be there – you can stop by whenever you want (Gracie sends out notices to everyone if we’re having an event and even then the event means just doing a post about the event on the TCC!)………it’s fun because there’s no “HAVE TO GO THERE TODAY”….It’s part of the reason we are able to enjoy it – unlike some other spots, it’s “come when you want to” and it takes VERY little time! These days, time is at a premium for everyone.

  2. Don’t let my name fool you. I’m not a Taby or a Calico or a Tuxedo or any kind of furbaby. Even though my face gets a little fussy at times. Stupid menopause! Did you notice the first three letters in that word m.e.n.? I guess that’s why women (again m.e.n.) have to deal with the wonkiness of aging. Growing older stinks worse than gym socks but it’s better than the alternative. Congrats on keeping such a fine kitty club running with an impressive membership for so many years. I like new treats, too. Especially, when it’s a bowl of creamy goodness like ice cream. It’s okay for humans to eat in moderation of course but I’m not sure if kitties can have it so you need to check with your mom. I do like taking naps when I can. During the day, I like to curl up on the sofa because my bed is too empty without DH to hold me snugly and safely. 🙂 Have a good day!

    • Hi Cathy! I just left a comment on your great blog but it didn’t appear to “take”….anyway just thanking you for visiting us. Growing older does stink but if we put a little love out there we can surround ourselves with a MUCH better “scent” – friendship! Ice cream is something I’ve not tried out on Teddy but I have a feeling he wouldn’t like it. He’s incredibly picky about food….we think he was a barn cat before he found his way to our local shelter so he’d prefer a dead mouse to a treat any day. LOL I at least have managed to convince him that cat food is a “steadier diet”……Anyway, thanks for coming by.

      Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

  3. I LOVE the Tabby Club. And I so wish the Tuxedo club that used to be, were active and filled with Tuxies. My mom is helpless as a newborn mousie in photo arts etc or I would prod her to try. I know when I’m licked before the tongue stops! She’s not a good choice. There have been two such clubs since Admiral and I have been blogging but there is no one there. Ao I enjoy reading the activities in the Tabby Club instead. XXX BTW, that photo of Teddy at the end of the blog is THE best ever!! LOVE the art work

  5. Great interview with Gracie. I learned a lot about the club that I didn’t know and 3 of my kitties are members as well as Angel Stinky who had been too. Great fill-ins too Teddy. I did not know about your rabbit hunt, maybe I should send you our Elmer Fudd hat to help you with hunting them. Have a great weekend! XO

    • We hope maybe some new recruits will join the Club – it’s an easy Club to be a member of – fun to post for an occasion but otherwise it’s not a whole lot of work for members – just a whole lot of fun! I need to get Mom to get me a huntin’ outfit to wear for bunnies. HAHAHA

  6. Thank you Teddy for the opportunity of getting the word out about the Tabby Cat Club. One of the most friendly and fun blogs there is. We are always looking for new member to join up and hope many will take this opportunity to do so, if you are a Tabby Cat. Hope to see you there.

  7. It’s probably just as well that you didn’t catch the bunny-I hear they kick very hard with their back legs. No doubt you are a pawsome addition to the Tabby Cat Club, Teddy. They are lucky you’re part of their team!

    • It’s a fun Club…..they don’t do a lot of activities – it’s kind of a “special occasion” blog – Super Bowl, 4th of July, etc. so we’re not having to go there all the time which works for me since I have a daily Blog and am also a Cat Scout!

  8. Well, let me tell you!! This post is awesome!! Kitties having their own channel and news is great and we look forward to finding out more as time goes on! We have a tabby cousin who joined – Mitty – who now has the adult name of Pud-Pud which fits him to a ‘T’! Lots of luck from all of us. We’ll be watching and reading the updates! – Purrs, Tom, Bridgie and mom Julie

    • Thanks for visiting our blog to read Gracie’s interview about the Tabby Cat Club. We thought this might be a big help in the “recruitment” effort for her Club and as members, Angel Sammy and I would love to see more tabbies come to have fun with us. I’m sure Pud-Pud can speak to the kinds of good times we have there!

    • Mom never takes her camera outside (or should I say she never REMEMBERS to take her camera outside!). I don’t often get to chase anything since I’m on my harness and leash but once in a while I get to go out there without my “equipment” and I love to run run run!

    • It was a fun interview to do! We are hoping we can recruit some new Tabbies to join all of us – won’t that be GREAT? I think the Club will become more active – Gracie is already thinking of some new (and some old) things for all of us to do there………….thanks for coming by – SEE YOU AT THE CLUB!

  10. We wish there was a fun club like that for dogs!

We all love to chase rabbits too, but for some reason Mom always uses that NoNo word.

    • Oh Woos I’ve heard that NoNo word a whole lot when I take off after a squirrel. The huge bunny was rather unusual for us to see and I was just a little bit afraid of it (don’t tell anyone!). I bet you all would like being Dog Scouts! You know there really IS a DOG SCOUTS organization online just like there’s a CAT SCOUTS (which I belong to!). There are a lot of really fun things to do….

      Love and HAPPY weekend!

  11. Well, I don’t have any tabby cats eligible to join… but many of my squirrels appear to have tabby striped bellies. Do they count? And would the membership revolt to have a few squirrels among them?

    Like

    • Gosh, I don’t know! Perhaps there is a type of squirrel that’s considered a tabby…….”Genus Tabus Squirrelus Erectus”??????? I would think that the membership at the TCC would consider them as a MEAL rather than a friend! EEEEEEEK???!!!

  12. Great post Teddy! And thanks for telling us about the Tabby Cat Club! Mom has been remiss, she has not taken me there until today and as soon as I saw it, I asked if I could join! AND Mom said yes!!! (I think she feels a little guilty about not being home much for the last 8 weeks)
    I can’t wait!
Oh! Your fill ins were the best! And a GIANT bunny! I would have been totally terrified.

    • Marv I am so happy that you will be a member of the Tabby Cat Club! I know Gracie will be happy to hear from you. Like I said, the very BESTEST thing about the Club is that it doesn’t really take a lot of time for our Moms or us….it’s just a spot to stop by once in a while to see old friends and enjoy a special day. That giant bunny only came through my yard ONCE – Mom and I have wondered if it might have been snapped up by a hawk or a fox because we’ve never seen it since!

    • We happily RARELY see a snake – maybe three or four in the 22 years Mom and Dad have lived here….and those have been black snakes…..my Mom goes NUTS when she sees a snake! We do have raccoons, possums an frogs though.

How lucky you are to see bunnies in your yard. I’ve seen plenty of squirrels in our yard, but never a bunny. The only place I’ve seen a bunny since we moved here to Texas was in the elephant’s enclosure at the Houston Zoo.

I love naps and new treats, too.

    Have a blessed Sunday!
