Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Hello Friends!!    It’s Thursday and you know that means TWO goodies in one blog day for us.    We always started with our friend Brian who hosts “Thankful Thursday” blog hop because it’s just a GREAT way to start a day – focusing on what we are thankful for.   I look back at my week and come up with thankfuls – how about you?   Want to join the hop?  Click on Brian’s badge above and fill out the Linky form and you’ll be with us.

I am thankful this week that I am FINALLY feeling better.   I guess I haven’t talked much about it because I was pretending it wasn’t there (!) or that if I ignored it, it would go away.   But it didn’t………for well over two weeks I was not myself AT ALL.    I slept all the time, wouldn’t eat or drink much, but after several trips to the vet and blood work there seemed to be no REASON for it.   I did have one degree of fever but nothing else was showing up on any tests or in any exams I had.    I was prescribed what amounts to Kitty Advil (an anti-inflammatory) to take for three days though and I am a bit perkier after taking that.   Coming out of my funk slowly perhaps.   “Just one of those things” I suppose.    But know what?    I’m still THANKFUL that I feel better and am acting more like ME…….my Mom and Dad were worried about me.   Everyone was worried about me – EVEN I WAS WORRIED ABOUT ME!    So I am very thankful for improvement of my “mystery malaise”.

Thankful too that my brother didn’t let me down – he never has……..Angel Sammy sent his poem to me for “POETIC THURSDAY” and I’ll share with you now!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday Poetry Fans!

It’s time to share the poems we wrote this past week inspired by the PHOTO I challenged you to write a poem about.    I hope you’re having fun with this project – I know I do and those of you who have participated so far obviously MUST have fun because your poetry is fabulous.   If you haven’t joined in, please do.   You just have to look at a photo prompt that I provide you and you have a whole week in which to do a poem based on what YOU “see” in the photo, or how it makes you feel……get creative with me!

Here’s the photo we wrote a poem about THIS week followed by MY poem – I can’t wait to read yours!    I thought this was a truly interesting photo of the biggest cave EVER………I thought it was super inspiring!

“Awesome”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 22, 2018

Just when we think we are ever so tall

That we’re mighty, and strong, and in charge of it all

We will see or experience something that shows

How little we observe and how little we know!

The majesty of nature is truly amazing

High cliffs, deep oceans, even caves are hair-raising!

The scope of their “grandness”, their beauty and size

Can move us so deeply, it brings tears to our eyes…..

Our world is so awesome and we need to take care

We don’t ruin all this beauty so in the future it’s still there.

Wildfires, clear cutting, and blasting through for roads

We ask so much of nature, it’s limit we overload……..

Inside this big cave, so dark, quiet and full of power

We may be small but must defend this beauty until the final hour…………

There were so many things this photo made me feel it was hard to single one thing out so I made it about more than one thing……………but the true awesomeness of nature is something we must not take for granted.    Maybe we will all live on other planets one day but for the HERE AND NOW we must take care of this beautiful blue planet we live on.

If you wrote a poem today from this same photo – please tell us about it in comments!   Give us a link where we can read it – enjoy it…………OR show us your poem in comments – write it out and share.

I have another photo for you for next week…………..you have all week to look at it and think about it and decide what you want to write about!    Ready?

Spring?    We hope it gets EVERYWHERE soon!

See you all next week…………..thank you for having fun with some poetry along with me every week…………………………….It makes me HAPPY!

Love, Your Angel Poet Sammy

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy and thanks to all of you for tuning in on Thursdays.    Can’t wait to see what poetry you come up with for Sammy’s challenge next week!    Stay warm (or cold) as the case may be.

Hugs, Teddy

Teaser Tell All

Standard

Welcome to Tell All Class Students!

Shall we begin at the beginning?   Usually a good place to start right?     First of all we had ONE and ONLY ONE “FIRST COMMENTER” yesterday morning.   How about that?    Actually it was almost SIX minutes before anybody commented as we posted EARLY for a surprise.    Who was that lucky student?????

Katie Isabella !

That’s right!   We are excited for beautiful Katie and are proud to present her with this FIRST COMMENTER badge………

I was the FIRST COMMENTER on Tuesday Teaser for March 20, 2018!!! WOO HOO!

Congratulations Katie – you were our EARLY BIRD this morning……………………..

What? You mean I wasn’t your EARLY Bird this morning????

We did not have a GUEST TEASER yesterday either – it was one my Mom located and used and it’s one of our favorite spots.   Apparently it’s one of our FIRST RIGHT GUESSER’S favorite spots as well because he guessed it FIRST.    Before we tell you that, let’s show you the photo again:

A beautiful place athough this not a view of this town that most people would recognize.    Where is this?   Portland, Maine!    Back where the little tour boats park before going out on their little “getting to know Portland” cruises…..I think I see some fishing boats in there too but it’s a beautiful town in a beautiful state.

WHO was our lucky ducky student who guessed this FIRST?????

Da Phenny!!!!

Many of you know that Da Phenny’s “standard guess” when he hasn’t got a clue is “MAINE, USA” and this time he was right but he got the right CITY too!    YAY PHENNY this is for you:

I was FIRST RIGHT GUESSER for the Teaser of March 20, 2018 ! YAY MAINE!

Concatulations Phenny and Katie!

We had a couple more guess correctly and those of you who DID get one of these:

I wasn’t FIRST but I was RIGHT on the Teaser of March 20, 2018!

Were you WRONG?   Were you brave enough to guess but still incorrect?   You get a badge too – a famous GREENIE is all yours!

I guessed incorrectly but I TRIED on the Teaser of March 20, 2018!

Let’s see if the fact they only have TWO NAMES to cheer about today catches the Cheer Team in an exceptionally GOOD mood today shall we????

Oh boy what a TREAT
Pull up a chair and take a seat
Our cheer is short – no need for long
Only Two FIRSTIES we should sing a song!
Katie Isabella was first one HERE
She ought to join us for a nice cold beer!
Then came Phenny who was FIRST RIGHT GUESSER
He’s also well known for being a very snappy dresser!
We can’t believe that we lucked out this week
We’re so happy we’ll give Sarge’s cheeks a tweak!

YIKES! You’re BRAVE!

We all think you’re BRAVE!

Now for the REAL reason you are all here today – not just for the geography test but for the FOOD………………..well we wouldn’t want to disappoint you so here is Miss Dingleberry to keep you all from fainting away from hunger.    As for your Professors – we shall see you again NEXT week for more TEASING!!!

Step right up!   What’ll it be?  Chicken, shrimp, fish, fries or ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!!!

Your Professors!!

Teaser Tuesday

Standard

It may be snowing (or raining or sleeting) but SCHOOL IS IN SESSION!

THE SCHOOL BELL IS FROZEN SOLID SO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT-SCHOOL IS IN!

HAVE YOU COMMENTED YET??????  You’d better!

You might win THIS if you are FIRST!!

YES we have our Santa hats on – couldn’t find any other winter head-warmers to wear to school today!

We will warm all of you up with a “hot seat” of a geography test here in a moment – a photo that you will be able to study and guess WHERE IT WAS TAKEN – that should keep you busy for a while!   Today’s Teaser is not a Guest Teaser but it is (WAIT FOR IT…………………..) A “GUESS TEASER” !!!      Sorry about that – rather lame little joke wasn’t it.

Here are the rules for you folks who want to take a stab at the test this morning………………..

If you are FIRST RIGHT GUESSER, A RIGHT GUESSER BUT  NOT FIRST or a WRONG GUESSER………you will get one of our fabulously collectible badges to show off!!

I studied!

I hope maybe THIS week I guess right!

I cracked open the books too!!

Study? Me? Groovy…..

Let’s get on with it shall we?   Before we begin I am happy to announce that the Cheer Team did in fact get excellent report cards for their service to Ding Dong School this past semester……a suggestion was made that they permanently throw away from their book collection, “How To Insult Your Audience In Ten Easy Lessons”, “Living Dangerously as a Cheerleader”, and “Cheerleading for Complete Dummies”……………..they have agreed they no longer need those books to help them write their cheers.

Hip Hip Hooray
We celebrate today!
Our report cards were good
We can stay in the “hood”
Your Teaser today is pretty
Makes us sing a seaside ditty
We haven’t got a clue
But hopefully some of you do….
You might win a badge
Or perhaps a date with Madge!

Now we’ll QUICKLY move on to asking our ever vigilant Security Guard if he would please bring in the Teaser photo for today so you can get to work!

Here is today’s Teaser Professor Sam and Ted

WHERE WAS THIS SNAPPED??????????????????    Tomorrow we will be back with the TEASER TELL ALL and you’ll find out who wins and who loses and who just comes here for the food.   HAHAHAHA

Food? Food?

Yes food – Miss Dingleberry is in the hall outside the classroom today because of course we have SNOW on the ground and heaven forbid you students get COLD FEET so step right up and have a snack and we will see you bright and early tomorrow!

That’s right – you just get SNACKS today –

the stuff your Mom won’t allow you to have!!!  YAY!!!!!

Good Luck !   Your Profs, Angel Sam and Ted

Sparks on Monday

Standard

Sparks on Monday!

SPARKS is the idea of my good friend Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.   She thinks it’s important for us to share something uplifting to start our week and we think so too.   We are happy to be part of this positive Blog Hop and hope you will join in – just click her badge above and enter your blog link and share your SPARK!!!

It’s Monday again……..already………another week gone but another week ahead.    Time is like that – disappears then reappears and gives us HOPE.    Speaking of HOPE, that’s the subject of my SPARK today.   Something I keep in my heart as much as possible and it seems as time moves on I try to have MORE and MORE of it “standing by” in my arsenal of weapons to get through life one day at a time.   HOPE is also a big part of my mantra of positivity.    You can’t lose hope and be positive.   At least I can’t!

Another Maya Angelou quote that speaks to me.    I have room in my life for MANY things and always have in my 70 years here…….but given a choice between Hope and Fear and allowing one of them to RESIDE in my day to day living, I’ll choose hope every time.    Fearing sort of says “I’m beat and nothing can help”…….Hope says “I may be facing something scary but I have hope and I will win”………much more powerful.

My “heavy thoughts” for this Monday!      I am choosing to be HOPEFUL today – how about you??

Hugs, Pam

Pre-Teaser Monday

Standard

Ding Dong – Monday Calling!!

Time for the “warm-up” prior to tomorrow’s BIG TEASE.    We will get your juices flowing (please don’t make a mess on our floors though)………..and prepare you mentally for tomorrow’s photo guessing exercise.

Did someone get their juice on my floor?????

Tomorrow’s blog post with class at Ding Dong School will arrive in your inbox at a SURPRISE TIME……………and when it does, FIRST thing to do is comment……………if you are first or one of the first you get a special badge.  Big Deal right?   Well honestly there are SOME students here who LIKE getting badges……they are collecting them – so maybe you’d like one too?    It will look like THIS:

So being an EARLY bird is a good idea!!

Remember, the early bird gets the worm!

Then we move on to the main event…………the showing of this week’s photo.   Your mission is to figure out WHERE the photo was taken……….what city/town/village in what state/country – we want the whole scoop.   Here are the rules we have for guessing:

Easy huh?   Well, it might look easy but it’s not always easy figuring out WHERE the photo was taken that’s for sure.

No it’s NOT always easy – it can be TRICKY!

No it sure as heck is NOT easy!

We have our fabulous and always inspiring Teaser Cheer Team here to get you motivated for the Teaser tomorrow.   They do a good job of firing everyone up every week.   Suzie started out all by herself as our cheerleader and now our cheer squad has FOUR members…………who knows – one of these days Suzie is liable to have tryouts again and ADD to the team.

Va Va Voom
Clear the room!
Cheer team is present
With a cheer that is pleasant
No nasty words
Today will be heard….
You see report cards are due
We get graded too!
So we’re trying to behave
Our jobs here we must save!
So make sure and tell the teachers
You like being in our bleachers….
Cheering you all on
From dusk until it’s dawn
As long as we keep our jobs
We promise not to be snobs.
We’ll see you all in the morning – – –
This is your EARLY warning!

OK Team……………..apparently this is your best effort at “sucking up” so you get good grades and keep your jobs.   Right?    Well we already know that everyone loves you all so your jobs are secure.   Trust me.   Who else would be nuts enough to WANT to cheer at Ding Dong School anyway??!!!

Now Miss Dingleberry says because it’s such a pretty and sunny day, she’s set things up for you outside for today’s SNACK-FEST…………………..We will see you tomorrow here in class for the TEASER so be sure and study tonight and be WIDE AWAKE tomorrow………………….

I’ll see you all OUTSIDE – wash your hands first!!!!

Step right up students!   With every meal you get a handful of TUMS and a cup of Pepto Bismol!!

HEALTHY drinks to cool your tummies down!

See you tomorrow students!

Your Professors, Angel Sam and Teddy too

Sunday Selfie

Standard

Sunday Selfie Blog Hop time with the Kitties Blue at The Cat On My Head!    Every Sunday we join in the fun of showing off our “fine selves” at the Hop.    This is no exception.    If you want to join us please do – just click their badge above and join with the LINKY TOOL.   Easy Peasy.

My photo this Sunday was jazzed up by my Mom with Lunapic – using the “Frida” art effect.   The photo is just a little embarrassing – YES sometimes I am too lazy to stand up while I’m having my “SINK DRINK” so I have a lie down while I slurp my water from the faucet.   So what?   I wasn’t feeling very perky when this photo was taken.   I just didn’t have enough energy to stand or squat!

Here’s the”before Lunapic” version:

And here’s the FANCY SHMANCY version!

Gee that sink water tastes mighty fine!    Speaking of mighty fine – I hope your Sunday is just that………………….!

Bakin’ with Bacon In Ireland

Standard

Top ‘O The Mornin’ To Ye!   Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Oh My King – I’m already GREEN so I must be Irish too!

What are we going to tell you about this morning?   Since it’s Saint Patrick’s Day we couldn’t resist telling you about an Irish favorite called “BOXTY”………..this version features (you guessed it) BACON!!!!!

Irish Boxty with Bacon and Scallions

Boxty is the Irish term for potato pancakes!    This is just an Irish version which is – trust me – delicious…………………………..

  • Ingredients

    • 3 slices of bacon
    • 2 medium potatoes peeled
    • 2 or 3 scallions, white and light green parts only, finely sliced or chopped
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper
    • 3-4 Tablespoons of butter

Fry bacon – break pieces up into small size bits – save a BIT of the bacon grease

Boil potatoes and mash them…………….

In a bowl put your mashed potatoes, scallions, salt/pepper, flour, baking soda – mix well then add crumbled bacon and mix again.

Heat butter in frying pan, make small size “pancakes” of the mixture and put in hot oil.   Brown on each side – drain and SERVE!    Great as a side with eggs!!

There you have it – something to celebrate with for breakfast this morning.   These aren’t just good for breakfast though as you can imagine……..they’re just plain GOOD.

Angel Sammy – the former King of Baconia (the King Emeritus!) says TRY THESE BOXTIES – You’ll like them!!

May the luck of the Irish be yours today and every day!

Friendly Fill-Ins Friday!

Standard

Oh boy!   Fill-In Friday is here……………..this is a fun Blog Hop that you can join in if you want to – it’s co-hosted by Annie of McGuffy’s Reader and Ellen of 15andMeowing and you can go to McGuffy’s to join up if you click the badge above!    What is the hop all about?    Well, our co-hosts EACH give us two sentences with blanks in them and all we have to do is fill in the blanks however we want………..what happens?   We learn a lot of new stuff about each other.  Cool right?

I’m going to fill in the blanks ALL BY MYSELF this week……………….Mom said I could………………..and my own words will be in BLUE so you can tell it’s ME ME ME talking!

1. When I am nervous, I run for the basement – it’s my safe spot in the house!

2. When I am angry, I won’t look my Mom or Dad in the face – I look away so it’s more like a BIG POUT!.

3. Today, I know for sure that Mom is taking me to the vet at 9:40AM – she doesn’t think I know but I heard her call to make the appointment – I haven’t been eating well or drinking enough water (so she says)!

4. For St. Patrick’s day, I am going to Ireland with the Cat Scouts (virtually of course) **

**Mom says she’d fill in this sentence with “I am making corned beef and cabbage with potatoes in the crockpot” !

So there you have it – my Friday fill-ins are done!     That was easy peasy………………..you should join us – it’s fun every week.

Angel Sammy and Teddy O’Kimmell wish you the luck of the Irish on Saturday!!

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Is it Thursday already?    My Mom is always talking about how QUICKLY she thinks time passes – I say it doesn’t pass fast enough but then I’m a little kid and she isn’t.    Well whether it’s passed fast or slow it’s still time to be THANKFUL as we are every Thursday with our buddy Brian – and if you click his badge above you know what will happen?   You will be transported to his blog where you can join in the Blog Hop where we are thankful too!

This week I’m thankful that even though it was cold cold cold out, my Mom and Dad indulged me and let me go outside and lie on the front porch in the sunshine.  Of course they were WITH me and I had on my leash and harness but I WAS outside and I did get some fresh air.   It was quite cold but nice.   I am also thankful that in spite of places all around us getting snow – we didn’t!

I’m always thankful as well when I get my weekly email from my brother Angel Sammy at the Bridge containing his poem for his Poetry Challenge.    Yep – I got it last night and here it is for your viewing pleasure.

♥♥♥

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge!

It’s another Thursday and time for us to share the poems we wrote during this past week using the photo I gave you as inspiration………….sure is fun doing this don’t you think?    If you’ve joined us before you know the deal…….I give you a photo each week and you write a poem about the photo:  how it makes you feel, what it makes you think, a funny story it reminds you of, WHATEVER inspiration you get, you write.   Easy?  Well for some people I guess it isn’t easy but really ANYONE can write a poem – just do it.     If you wrote one, me sure to put your blog link in our comments here OR write your poem out in our comments – either way we can read and share!

Here’s the photo that was our inspiration for this past week, followed by my poem:

“Overwhelmed”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 14, 2018

Panic begins, breathing in gulps, hearts beat fast,

Fear grips the mind and you hope it won’t last….

Being afraid, scared, or worried is just not fun

You’d much rather be on a beach in the sun!

When life is a mess or it seems to be so

It’s hard to relax and just let things go

The feelings of doubt, of sadness, or regret

Can seem like a wave that’s as big as it gets……..

A tsunami of fear that’s pulling you under

“Will I survive?”, you can’t help but wonder.

The WILL to go on can get you through doubt

When you break through that wave you’ll just want to shout

“I’m still here, I got through it, and I’m still alive…..

I’ll be stronger next time because I want to SURVIVE!”

Even though I am at the Bridge now I listen to everything my Mom says……..and this past week she talked a lot about “worry”……..and how easy it is for people to get overwhelmed by worry.    THAT was the inspiration for me this week along with this incredible photograph of a SURFER on a wave bigger than BIG – in fact it’s truly a tsunami-sized wave.    I’m sure it’s a thrill to surf and manage to come up for air after riding a wave like that BUT it’s not something I’d do that’s for sure!    When I found that photo I couldn’t believe it was real but I investigated it, and it is.    In fact, if you google “gigantic waves” you’ll see other HUGE waves…….

Now, for NEXT week’s poem photo challenge, I have a photo to give you and you have a whole week to think about it and write a poem about the photo!   Ready?

Talk about a pawsome campsite huh?   Well, it is just a huge cave in a jungle but it does STIR the imagination!    That’s what it’s supposed to do.    I hope you’ll write a poem to share with us NEXT week…………..about what you feel when you look at this photo.

Now it’s time for me to say goodbye……….I have duties to attend to you know.    Lots of them.    I don’t just lie on a cloud and float around all day you know!    I’ll see you soon……maybe in your dreams…………

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy!    I like next week’s photo – looks like a spot where Cat Scouts should go camping.   So we’ll see you next Thursday everyone?    Have a good week and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday.

From Me to all of YOU!

Love, Teddy O’Kimmell

Teaser Tell All

Standard

Time for your Professors to TELL!!

Groovy Profs – tell it like it is, man………..

Hello Students!    Here we are gathering together in class to give you the details on who won what yesterday……………….plus we have a CONUNDRUM involving the Teaser to tell you about as well!

But before we get into that – wanna know who was the FIRST COMMENTER?    We had THREE of them…………I know Suzie is glad it wasn’t SIX of them but three IS better than FOUR so let’s award some badges shall we??

McGuffy’s Reader, Evil Squirrel’s Nest, Friends Furever

Congratulations to Miss Annie, Mr. Bill and Miss Sharon from the above blogs for chiming in during the first 60 seconds yesterday!  You each take to take home one of these fabulous badges!!!!!

I was one of THREE First Commenters on the Teaser of March 13, 2018! YAY FOR ME!

Whoopteedoooo!

Gosh, I don’t think Marge has ever cheered for anyone!    I think she has a crush on Bill from The Evil Squirrels Nest.   Yep ………that’s what I think!

Now to tell you the CONUNDRUM.    First of all the photo yesterday was one my Mom found online.    She had this idea to use a photo of the River Walk – such an amazing tourist attraction – so she googled, “RIVER WALK, TEXAS” and up popped a zillion photos MOST of which said the River Walk was in Austin, Texas.    There were a few that said it was often SAID to be in Austin but was in FACT in San Antonio, Texas.    Mom went with the majority – and what this particular image SAID it was, which was a photo of the River Walk in Austin.

Here’s the Teaser photo again!

The famous and beautiful River Walk is in San Antonio, Texas and spans the San Antonio River.    There are a lot of photos to be seen of this marvelous location regardless of whether you google River Walk, Austin, Texas or River Walk, San Antonio, Texas……..either way, it’s an incredibly beautiful spot.   There are barge rides up and down the river – all manner of restaurants and shops and most of all cool, green landscapes – huge trees and lots of cool water.

A Pretty Spot for a Teaser!

SO, who was it who was the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER?    Annie of McGuffy’s Reader guessed AUSTIN, TEXAS…………………………….so she wins this little beauty!!

I was the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER on the Teaser of March 13, 2018!!

There were others who chose Austin AND those of you who did get one of these!

I guessed RIGHT but wasn’t FIRST on the Teaser of March 13, 2018……oh well….NEXT TIME!

If you were one of our many WRONG…………you still win something………..one of these!

I guessed wrong on the Teaser of March 13, 2018 but I still got a badge!!

Cheer team?   How about cheering everybody up with one of your fabulous cheers??

Three of you were QUICK and were FIRSTIES
That made the cheer team mighty thirsty
After Teaser it’s goodbye cheer
And off to the pub for a nice cold beer!
The Firsties Three were Annie, Bill and Sharon
We’ll mention their names so you know that we’re carin’ !
Then one of THOSE firsties made a guess!  She was faster than the REST….
Miss Annie was on the ball – she certainly stands tall!
Now the Cheer Team is about to take a trip – to the Hot Tub to take a dip!!

Hey – the hot tub is taken!!!!

We have a reminder for you about TEASERS………….Remember if you have any photos you think would make FUN Teasers in class, send them to us!   We will feature them on an upcoming Teaser – just email them to us!!!!  WHEEEEEEE!

ATTENTION – FOOD IS NOW SERVED IN MISS D’S TENT!

Miss Dingleberry – will you do the honors for feeding all of us today?

Congratulations Winners, Almost Winners, and Losers too!
