Thursday’s here! Time to be Thankful “out loud” by joining Brian’s Blog Hop. If you haven’t joined, please do – it’s easy – click the badge above and fill out the LINKY form. Then you can share with everyone what you are thankful for this week. For me, I’m especially thankful that it was not TOOOO cold to go outside for a little walk with Mom. Yesterday it got to 50! I was one happy cat. Mom put my harness and leash on and out we went for a whole 20 minutes! I had a good sniff around, ate some grass and checked on all my favorite spots out there. I will be happy when it’s Spring and I can explore more of the yard. I miss it!
I’m also thankful that wi-fi service continues to be excellent from the Rainbow Bridge because Angel Sammy is able to transmit his Thursday Poem to me so I can share it with you. Remember we’re doing photo poetry now – not alphabet – and the photos have people REALLY coming up with some very cool poems. You just look at the photo that Angel Sammy gives us each week and write a poem about whatever it makes you see/feel/think about. Everyone will have a different idea from the photo. FUN right?
Here’s what Angel Sammy sent me last night………………
♥♥♥♥
It’s Poetic Thursday!
Hello friends! Time to share our poems for this week. I hope you liked the photo prompt I gave you last week – you’ve had seven whole days to study the photo and see what it has to say to your heart and soul and what it’s inspiring you to write………..we all get different impressions from photos we see……….what did you see in this one which is the prompt for this week??
Here’s my poem………….I hope you like it!
“Careful Leap of Faith”
By Angel Sammy Kimmell, January 10, 2018
Sometimes new things can be a little scary
Our bodies tell us to “watch out” and be a little wary
That’s a little safety valve that all of us possess
To keep us from going too far out and making a big mess!
To keep us from growing up too fast and taking too many chances
To think before taking a new job, or buying a new car or starting new romances!
A little caution is a very good thing especially when you’re young
Too much bravado isn’t good – some songs should stay unsung!
Baby steps are much more safe and sing a softer tune
Don’t be in such a great big hurry to grow up WAY too soon!
Trust that there are those who care and help you on your way
Just know that something that’s worth doing doesn’t HAVE to be done today.
Ta Da! That’s my thought from that cute picture of the little boy and his Dad or big brother at the seashore………………my Mom says she can remember being little and letting the waves touch her toes and running away – it took her a while to trust that she could go up to her ankles, then her knees, then – well THEN she had swimming lessons. HAHAHA Did you write a poem? I hope you will share it with us – tell us in comments you wrote one and give us your link so we can visit and read it……….OR put your poem in our comments. But give poetry a try either way – you CAN write a poem – the best thing about poetry is it doesn’t have to rhyme and it gives you a chance to express yourself!
Now would you like to see the photo I’m giving you for next week?
I bet you’ll have fun with this one and we’ll find out how you did and how I did NEXT THURSDAY on Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday………so – is it a date? Good!
I’ll see you then!

I will be here wearing my poetic French beret!! Oui Oui!
Love, Angel Sammy

Oh I think that photo for next week is gonna be a good one! Who knows – maybe I’ll get brave and write a poem too.

I like your poem. My bipeds say that I was totally missing that safety valve as a pup – they had to be my safety valve!

HA! Yes and kittens have that same issue – no safety valve – good thing bipeds are especially vigilant in those early days isn’t it???!!

We are thankful it warmed up too, we didn’t have 50, but anything over freezing is good. Excellent poem from Angel Sammy. I like the photo for next week, it makes me think of Sammy and his balloon ride the day he went to the Bridge. XO

Phenny said the same thing about the balloon photo……….and when we saw the photo that’s just what we thought as well – a bittersweet memory – it was an amazing day of visiting so many friends but being the day we said farewell to Sammy made it a VERY hard day.

We’ve been having warmer temperatures, too, Teddy, and isn’t it wonderful? We’ll admit that we did enjoy having a white Christmas, but the subzero temperatures last week were not so welcome. It makes us worry for all the furbabies outdoors. But it’s 50°F now, so that’s much better! And, Angel Sammy, your poem is purrfect! Sometimes I read a poem and one line really stays with me, and with this poem it’s, “some songs should stay unsung.” I love that way of putting it, that some deeds are not meant to be. Now we can’t wait to get started on the poem for next week. The photo prompt is so fun!

I’m really glad you enjoy the photo prompts…..most of the few people who participate in the Thursday Poetry fun have said they like the photos. Your poem was AMAZING as usual! We’ll keep that up until everyone gets tired of it! Glad you liked Angel Sammy’s poem this week….we just loved that photo when we saw it too!!

First time at the beach can be like first walk through the hallways or first elevator ride at my new apartment. I still call it New after almost 9 months. That’s because I’m still a little afraid when we walk around.

p.s. Love next week’s photo. Mom has always wanted to go to the Balloon Festival in New Mexico.

Mom says when they first moved here, they would do balloon launches from the elementary school right next door to this development…..it was amazing…..that sound of the hot air going into them as they slowly rose above the trees into the sky – it was neato. BUT that was THEN and now they don’t do that anymore…..they are amazing to watch though and The Flying Circus in Bealeton near us has a launch every year in addition to their regular air shows.

Angel Sammy can put words together but I’m not sure that’s my “thing”…….I prefer napping, going for outside walks, and EATING to writing poetry. I think Angel Sammy has a lot of spare time at the Bridge now!

YES! Back before Mom and Dad were married he took her flying during a big balloon fest here in Virginia and Mom was hooked – she hasn’t been on a ride on one yet but would love to one day. They are so colorful and quiet and graceful! Have your parents been in a balloon?
