Today is THANKFUL THURSDAY and also Poetic Thursday!
First of all though we do our Thankfuls for Brian’s Blog Hop. We all have things to be thankful for if we just think about it – even coming up with just ONE thankful a week is something all of us can easily do. Then we share…………if you want to share, click on Brian’s badge above and hook up with us to HOP. This week I have to say that I’m thankful I have a WARM HOUSE to live in because it’s really been COLD outside. I am one cat who loves outside trips but while I’ve asked to go outside plenty of times this week and Mom has put my harness on and her coat on, etc., the minute the door opens I look at her like “YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME…….CAN YOU TURN ON THE HEAT??”…………so I don’t go outside. Mom seems OK with that but I miss my fresh air. Still, I am thankful I have a choice – so many kitties and other animals are only out in the bad awful weather. I don’t HAVE to be!
I’m also thankful that I got Angel Sammy’s poem for this week because I’ve heard there are a lot of problems with people’s internet service – apparently the folks at the Rainbow Bridge NEVER have problems because I always get his email containing his poem on time with no glitches! Wi-Fi up there is GREAT!
Here’s what he sent to me…………………………………

Hello Friends! It’s time for my Poetry Challenge of the week!!
This week we are REALLY getting close to the end of the alphabet because it’s time for the letter “W”. That means just three more after this and we’ll start a NEW poetry challenge. I’ll tell you more about that as the time gets closer. I hope you like my idea!
I also hope you’ve had a good week…………..things have been busy at the Rainbow Bridge – as you know I’m on the welcoming committee and sadly we’ve had a lot of additions lately – the cold weather seems to be our busy season there. We always work hard to make new arrivals feel at home – after all, this IS our home now. We visit with our families and friends on Earth if we choose to but we LIVE here. Other than that, I teach classes on Angel Good Works, Flying With Wings, and several other things. I am busy!
As I said, this week’s letter was “W” and I gave you some ideas of what you might write your poem about in case you couldn’t come up with something – BUT remember the poem can be about ANYTHING starting with the letter “W”…………..my “prompts” for you were:
(1) Window (2) Wink (3) Worry (4) Wiggle
What did I write my poem about? I used one of my prompts!!
“Wink”
By Sammy Kimmell, November 16, 2017
They say that cats can let humans know
How they feel about them, it’s our way to show
Our love for you – our true devotion
Cats are capable of deep emotion!
You may already know this but if you stop to think
Your cat may frequently stare and WINK
We catch your eye from across the way
And time stands still…….it’s THEN that we say –
“I LOVE YOU” with a slow, deliberate wink
Holding your gaze, and you stop and think
“Is he doing that on purpose or is it a clue?”
Well of course it’s on purpose – we are saying “I LOVE YOU” !
My Mom realized about winking long long ago
Other kitties she had would WINK at her to show
Their love for her………and she always winked back –
It’s something MANY of us do – and that’s a fact!
Keep an eye on your kitty from across the room
If you see a slow wink – it’s the sure cure for GLOOM!
It’s true……………My Mom’s cat before me Eddie would wink but when Mom winked back Eddie would hop down from wherever he was at the time and come to her – he’d follow his “I LOVE YOU” with a “LET’S CUDDLE”………I didn’t do that but I loved to catch Mom’s eye and wink. I know she’s hoping Teddy will do that…………..I’ve told him to give it a try!
Next week we will have the letter “X” – now that’s a REAL toughie……………..so instead of you having to do an “X” poem, you may do a poem about ANYTHING IN THE WORLD YOU WANT TO! If you can think of an “X” – you can do that but you don’t HAVE to. OK? OK! I am not going to give you prompts – you can be extra creative!
If you wrote a poem THIS week, please let us know you did in my comments here and we will come visit you to read it – OR you can post your poem here in my comments if you like……let’s share!
I’ll look forward to seeing your poem next week – please give writing a poem a try – everyone can write a poem – trust me I know. Poems take so many forms and don’t even have to rhyme – just let your imagination take flight and WRITE!
SEE YOU NEXT THURSDAY………………………..remember, I love you all!

Ah…..me in my French beret – I feel like a famous poet !!
Love, Angel Sammy
♥♥♥♥
Oh thank you Angel Sammy………….I love your poem this week but then I always love your poems………….and you! I hope to see everyone tomorrow on FRIENDLY FRIDAY FILL-INS……in the meantime, Happy Thursday!
Hugs, Teddy
that is a super sweet poem… and it can warm our hearts like a warm fire or a comfy home… well done… that are the words what bring sunshine and love to our world…

Hi Phenny! Angel Sammy did a good one this week didn’t he? I haven’t perfected my “across the room wink” yet but I’m working on it. Mom has actually had three or four cats who did the wink and when Mom would wink back they would come to her for some hugs.
Love and winks (!)

Mitzi just told me that winks can sometimes lead to poems about the letter X. I’m not sure what she’s talking about…. and maybe that’s just as well.

Mitzi knows her “X” stuff – in fact she could easily star in her own series “X FILES” – oh – wait – that’s been done already!

My vet guy told my Mom to only give me a cup of kibble a day……..Mom did that for about two days then caved in and gave me treats too. BUT I have not gained any more weight so we think I’m about at my MAX now. I won’t eat WET food – only dry – and my Mom WANTS me to eat only wet! Anyway, I know it’s not healthy for us to get too FATSO, but Mom makes sure I get lots of exercise and I’m still just a BIG CAT (even the vet said I was just plain a BIG BOY). More to love maybe??? Another great poem, Angel Sammy! Motor Mommy says she’s noticed the winks from some of her previous kitties. I may have even done that a time or two, and she says my half sisfur, Gypsy, does too. Sweetness!
Teddy, you are just too, too, too adorable!

We kitties have our ways of communicating that’s for sure…….Mom’s “two times ago” cat Ricky would switch eyes sometimes to see if Mom would copy him…..she did of course…..he’d surprise her with which eye he’d blink – I guess it was a kitty game!

Queen Penelope was a winker, as is Kozmo. I, Marvelous do sometimes. I am not too sure about the winter weather either. Or the rain! I have a new bird to watch this week! Mommy spotted a hummingbird trying to get nectar out of our geranium that still has a bloom so she got a humming bird feeder. She is around a lot!

Oh I know how disappointed you and Ladymum are that you can’t walk the way you used to around your apartment but you must NOT let those people keep you from doing what you enjoy – you all find a place that’s private and not near any neighbors – you can enjoy each other’s company and the fresh air there instead of how you used to – don’t let people take away your FREEDOM as you have as much right as anyone else to take walks. Just ignore them and be BETTER than they are…..people can be cruel or nice – it’s THEIR choice – but the cruel ones will be sorry one day that they allowed themselves to be unfriendly to people who were minding their own business and just enjoying their FREEDOM in their own neighborhood. Mom and I love your poem………..!

We loved your poem for “W”……..and yes Winter is coming finally and I’m excited about snow – Mom says I won’t be as excited about it as I think I will but we’ll see! The slow wink is something I guess I’ll have to practice as so far I’ve not “given Mom the wink”. If Lily Olivia likes to STARE, I’m thinking she’s sending your Mom a LONGER “mental message” !!
