Early Fall Bacon Harvest!

54

Welcome to Angel Sam and Ted’s

Fall Bacon Harvest!

Welcome friends and neighbors – come on in and see what we’ve been up to since early this morning here in the Greenhouse……….I guess you got here by following the road I told you about……sure is a pretty drive this time of year!

Down the long dirt road….

Keep going until it turns sharp right…..

And you’re HERE!!

We’ve got a whole lot of friends here today helping……….as you can plainly see we’ve got a bumper crop this season and Teddy and I are very excited about it.   Once we get all the hard work done, we’ll rest up and enjoy some great food and drink to thank you for helping us out.

To help keep everyone hydrated and comfy, you’ll see our friends Madi and Katie Isabella traveling around the greenhouse and the grounds and fields with goodies so just flag them down and help yourselves!

Thanks Katie!

Totally FAB Madi!

As you can see if you walk around, lots of our friends are already “bringing in the bacon” !!!

My buddy and pal Raz with a wheelbarrow full of bacon……

Our good pals, Sundae and Gypsy – now that’s a PILE OF BACON!

Marvelous Marv made a BACON sign and Sammy Pilch is helping him haul in the harvest!

Madi and Katie are not only our “snack queens” but they are ALSO helping with the harvest!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!

Well they sure went to work quickly – nice that they brought along some friends too!!

Our super duper pals Mauricio, Cooper Murphy AND Mauricio’s wife Allie are working hard……….

We even have our pal Mr. Squirrel – love his hat with Mitzi Bimbocorn’s logo!

When you’re ready for a break – just have a seat under an umbrella and rest up!

Just in case you forgot how the whole bacon greenhouse thing got started, my buddy and pal Mauricio gave me some MAGIC seeds – Bacon seeds – the variety is “CRISPY” and man oh man is it delicious.    This is our second harvest and we intend to “KEEP ON PLANTING” !!

Let’s go out in the field and see who’s working out there shall we?

We got more tractor help!   Bear (the golden) and Sammy talked their Dad into joining in the harvest!!

Lookin’ good Sam!   You’ve been a BIG HELP – you are a great “digger” !!

How’s things out there Speedy????

Mr. Jack Freckles has his special Bacon Harvest Hat on and a load of bacon…….just a little AWKWARD bringing the bacon by the pigs!  Tee Hee

Wow Charles – you picked the bacon from that whole side of the greenhouse!!!!!

Einstein did you try a sample to make sure it’s nice and ripe???

Angel Sammy was happy to see his dear friend Angel Flynn made it down from his cloud to help out today too!!

Attention Harvesters!   Time For the Party!

Come on over to the picnic area everyone – let’s EAT!   Thank you for your HARD WORK – you are REAL friends to help Teddy and me out with the harvest – we want you to relax now and enjoy some BACON and other goodies with us!

Sheeeee Haaaaw!!!!

Bring on the food!

SHOPPING and Filling-In!

49

Another Two For One Day!

We have “Shopping Around the World” with Bacon of PIGLOVE today and we also have “Friendly Fill-In Friday” with McGuffys’ Reader and 15andMeowing.    Which one should we do first?   I say:

Let’s fill in our sentences then we’ll go shopping…….this is a fun hop co-hosted by the above two blogger buddies and boy is it FUN.   They give us sentences, and we fill in the blanks and because it’s a HOP we get to HOP around and find out stuff about all our friends because of how they filled in the blanks!     If you click the badge above, you will be transported to McGuffy’s where you can join in the fun with the LINKY tool !

I’m letting Mom answer again this week – I’ve been very generous I think letting her STAR on Fridays but in actuality, most of the time the sentences are more “human friendly” than Teddy friendly.   So let’s see what Mom has to say shall we?   Her filled in stuff is in BLUE.

1. I am far too old to wear the tight jeans that I love to wear but I say “SO WHAT”!

  1. To save money, I don’t often buy things for the house – I keep towels for instance until you can almost SEE through them (slight exaggeration!) but I kind of figure as long as things WORK, I won’t replace them.   I certainly haven’t ALWAYS been like that though – trust me!
  2. LIFE matter(s).
  3.  The leaves coming down makes me think I don’t have much longer to wait for fires in the fireplace.

OK Mom – good job.    Our thanks go to Annie of McGuffy’s and Ellen of 15andMeowing for this fun weekly Hop.

NOW for our next half of the blog today!

Shopping Around The World

This one is super fun too because it’s ALWAYS interesting to get more recipes but it’s even MORE interesting to see what people pay for the stuff they use to MAKE their chosen food item.   That FOOD ITEM this month is DESSERTS!

This probably sounds crazy but my Mom and Dad almost ALWAYS eat dessert when they go out to dinner but they hardly EVER have dessert at home.   Notice I said “hardly ever” because Mom DOES make dessert from time to time.   Here’s an EASY one and because my Mom is a NUT for coconut (hahaha) she loves these!

CHOCOLATE AND ALMOND MACAROONS

INGREDIENTS AND PRICES:

3/4 cup condensed milk ($1.99 for 14 oz. container)

1  14-oz package sweet flaked coconut (two packages of 7 oz. – each package $1.84)

1/4 to 1/2 Teaspoon almond extract ($4.99 for two oz.)

1/8 Teaspoon salt (we had some)

24 whole unblanched almonds ($8.99 for 16 oz. package)

1/2 cup dark chocolate morsels ($3.49 for 10 oz. package)

DIRECTIONS:

Stir first four ingredients together…………..and drop dough by tablespoons on to parchment paper lined baking sheet (if you grease the spoon a little it will drop out easier!).   Push an almond into the top of each macaroon.   Bake in 350 degree oven for 15-17 minutes until golden brown.   Remove and let cool.

Microwave 1/2 cup chocolate morsels on high for a minute and 15 seconds………..stir well……..when cooled off, dump in a freezer bag and cut a hole in one corner so you can drizzle chocolate on the macaroons!

EASY PEASY and do I have to tell you how delish these are?   Well, I wouldn’t know myself of course but my Mom absolutely ADORES them.

If you have a DESSERT recipe to share today – make sure and link it up to Bacon’s blog at PIGLOVE so he can drool over your recipes but also so his Mom can collect all the recipes and make new snacks for Bacon’s Dad!

THERE YOU HAVE IT!    Friendly Fill-Ins and Shopping Around The World

See you tomorrow at the BACON HARVEST on my blog.   Sheeeeeeeeeee-haaaaw we’re gonna have a good time!

WATCH OUT – COMIN’ THROUGH!!!

Hugs, Teddy (and Angel Sammy too!)

Remember Me, Thankful, and Poetry Day

43

So Busy This Thursday!

Today we have Thankful Thursday with Brian, Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, and the MOST special remembrance today which is “REMEMBER ME THURSDAY”…….. a day we set aside every single year to remember all the sweet pets who are waiting to be rescued and have a chance at having and enjoying for their rest of their lives a true FOREVER HOME.    Shelters are full of sweet animals who have been taken to shelters be they no-kill or kill and who wait and hope that someone will give them security – sometimes for the FIRST TIME in their lives and sometimes because they have sweet memories of “home” in the past and wish for it again.     There are a million videos honoring this day but one of the most poignant ones is below – please take a couple of minutes to watch it.    It touches your heart and soul…………..

Actually today’s Remember Me Thursday is a great way to move right into THANKFUL THURSDAY at Brian’s!    I so easily could be one of those waiting in a shelter for my FOREVER but happily, my Mom and Dad came to the shelter last February and took me home where I have enjoyed my truly FOREVER……just as Angel Sammy did.    I am thankful that I am not languishing in a cage at the shelter but so many are and they need YOU to save them.      If you click the badge below, you will be transported to Brian’s blog and you can hook up and join in the THANKFUL blog hop he hosts every week!    THANKS Brian for being our host!

The last bit of our 3-way post today is my big brother Angel Sammy’s THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY post – which, as you know – he transmits to me via his wireless connection on his computer at the Rainbow Bridge every week.    I know he’s getting excited this week because he will be transporting down here for our Saturday post this week which is our BACON DAY and this Saturday we’re having a BACON HARVEST on our blog!   Somehow I doubt that’s what he wrote his poem about this week though.   This week’s letter of the alphabet is “P”……he gave us all four prompt words but of course we can write about ANYTHING starting with the letter “P” !

Here’s Angel Sammy’s transmission!

♥♥♥♥

Hello Buddies and Pals!!   It’s MY poetry challenge day!

Yes, every Thursday I make an appearance to share the poem I’ve written for my ALPHABET POETRY CHALLENGE.    We are fast working our way through the alphabet and already at the letter “P” so I am wondering what you came up with to celebrate the letter “P” this week.    The prompts I gave you to help you come up with something last week were:

(1) Princess (2) Poet (3) Promise (4) Party

You can write about any “P” thing in your poem though.    I actually DID choose one of the prompts that I gave to you – mainly because I wanted to write about today’s REMEMBER ME THURSDAY occasion which is something near and dear to my own heart as I was rescued from a shelter myself by my Mom and Dad who made a PROMISE to me when I went home with them!

“Promise”

By Sammy Kimmell, Sept. 28, 2017

I was just a wee kitten in a tiny wire cage

Found under a house all alone – nobody home

That day my life began on a fresh new page

I would be safe and happy with no need to roam.

Abandoned by my cat MOM?   We would never know

Brought to the shelter by someone – a passer by

I looked out the bars waiting for someone to show

The shelter was quiet and some animals would cry

A man and a lady came there one cold February day

Would they see me?   My cage was way way up high

I had a small ball with a bell – with it I would play

The lady heard it, looked up and I caught her eye!

I stuck my paw out – extra toes she could see

“It’s a polydactyl!” she said to the man by her side

He touched my paw and said “Hi” very tenderly

Out of the cage I was brought and handed to the man

I was smart, I was cute, and I licked his face

“This is the one” she said, I would smile if I can…..

They signed papers and soon we were out of that place!

………..AND WE ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER…………

Funny how 17 years AFTER my Mom and Dad adopted me they found themselves back at that same shelter, in the same month, and found another little ginger boy to take home – my little brother Teddy.    I wish I could have stayed there to meet him………..but my time came to leave in December, 2016 just two months before he found his FOREVER with my Mom and Dad.

Remember Me Thursday is near and dear to my heart and to his as well as my Mom and Dad…………..my Mom cries BIG tears for all those animals in shelters who wait and wait and sometimes never get their homes.     Teddy and I were lucky…………….and we know it………………

Next week we will celebrate the letter “Q” which is a tricky letter isn’t it?!     Well, I’m giving you four prompt words to think about but you can write ANYTHING you want to with the letter “Q” so feel free to do that………..THEN, come here and post the link to your poem so we can all read it OR if you want to, post your poem in my comments OK?    I love poetry and please don’t say “I don’t know how to write a poem” because you CAN………..poetry is from the heart and doesn’t even have to rhyme!    OK?

(1) Quiet (2) Quarrel (3) Q-Tip (4) Quack

There you are – a little help if you need it.     I hope you will have a great week and I hope that you will remember TODAY is the last day you can send in a photo of YOU in your Bacon Harvest Outfit so we can put you in our Saturday BACON HARVEST PARTY post!     We had a ball last harvest and hope you’ll be with us for this one.    I’m flying down from my cloud for the day.   Can’t wait to see you there!    Email your photo to my Mom ASAP!!

I Love You All………..Angel Sammy

♥♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy!    As always, I love your poem because YOUR story is exactly MY story.    Same shelter, 17 years apart and two baby gingers found their FOREVER in the same home.   If you haven’t looked at the video link we posted above, please do.    This is a very special day to REMEMBER………….

Hugs, Teddy

Teaser Tell All

56

Good Morning Students – Geography Class is in session!

(frantically waving)

Yes Bobby??????

Nothing Professor – I was trying to catch a fly in my paw…….sorry!

Alrighty then Bobby.   Guess we’ll move on to letting everyone know the STORY OF OUR FIRST COMMENTER from yesterday.    We in fact, had a bumper crop of FIRST COMMENTERS – we broke our 4-way with a 5-way winning group yesterday!    Within the first sixty seconds, we had FIVE comments………..WOW……………gonna be hard to break that record (although we thought that when we had four!)……………who were the winners?????

Annie from McGuffy’s Reader

Csilla from Kolytyi

Melissa, Oliver & Calvin

Carol from CarolMaeWY

Clowie from Clowie’s Corner

We ALL were FIRST COMMENTERS on the Teaser of 9/26/17: McGuffys, Kolytyi, Oliver & Calvin, Carol and Clowie!!

All of you get to copy the badge above,  and have it for your VERY OWN – we just put all winner names on ONE badge instead of posting five separate badges!   Clever of us huh???????

OK!  We shall move on.    Let’s talk about the Teaser photo in yesterday’s post so you can find out whether you win something or not!    I know you’re DYING to find out and since we don’t have to take time to tell you who the Guest Teaser was (since it’s Mom’s photo!), we can move right on to showing you the photo from yesterday again.

NO, it’s not Forrest Gump on that bench, it’s my DAD!

To tell you about this photo, Mom and I thought it might be fun to give you a link to follow to the FIRST post Mom did with a photo of this location she and my Dad visited – just read the blog post and you will find out WHERE she took it!!    Ready?????    CLICK HERE – then come back!     YES (Miss Jackie you thought it was familiar!)  back in 2012 Mom did a post about this place……you will recognize that building on the other side of the square in the photo on the old blog…………..Obviously my poor old Dad needs some lessons in posing for a photo because many of you were right – he DOES look like Forrest Gump (Mom says Forrest GRUMP) in the photo.    HAHAHAHA

Shall we tell you WHO the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER was ?    Oh yes – lets!    It was someone who was also a FIRST COMMENTER…………it was Miss Carol from CarolMaeWY!!!    This is for you Miss Carol and you don’t have to share it with ANYONE!

For Teaser of 9/26/17

SEVERAL (and I do mean SEVERAL) others guessed this photo correctly and if you guessed Savannah, this is yours!!

For Teaser of 9/26/17

Of course if you guessed incorrectly – you still win something – one of our world famous GREENIES!!

For Teaser of 9/26/17

Congrats Winners AND Losers!!

Suzie will have her work cut out for her today with her cheer.   Her tradition lately has been to do a cheer using the names of all the winners……….usually that’s easy peasy for someone of her considerable cheering talents but we have a crop of five first commenters and one first commenter and that is a lot of names………Go Suzie Go!

YOU CAN DO IT SUZIE!

Oh my achin’ back!
I’ll have a heart attack!
SIX names to put in the cheer?
I’m gonna need a beer!
First Commenters there were FIVE
Busier than a bee hive!
Clowie, McGuffy’s. Oliver/Calvin, Csilla, and Carol
You five sure had me over a barrel!
I took the easy way out
So please don’t have a pout!
Our FIRST RIGHT GUESSER was a two-time winner
Someone give this girl a free dinner!
Carol ALSO guessed it was Savannah –
Her free dinner will be a BANANA!
You can’t expect me to be BRIGHT
I had a hot date last night
Cheering for winners is TOUGH
Especially if you feel ROUGH!!!

Well Suzie that was one major cheer with a bazillion verses and a lot of names and some MARGINAL rhyming but what’s a girl to do right?    I think you did very well.    Let’s hear it for our Cheerleader!!!

HIPPPP HIPPPPPP HOOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tune in next Tuesday for another exciting Geography class with your teaching team of:

The TWO Dynamic Professors!!!

Tomorrow is the DEADLINE to submit your photo if you want to be included in our BACON HARVEST blog post on Saturday – send your photos in your best HARVEST clothing to me and Mom via email…………..wear something comfy and come ready to work and party afterwards!!!   It will be our Saturday BACON post this week.

WATCH OUT – COMIN’ THROUGH!!!  BACON HARVEST TIME!

FINAL REMINDER!

15

That’s right – if you “cruise” you “lose” because

THIS FRIDAY (29th) is SHOPPING AROUND THE WORLD

We are guest hosting the “Shopping” post this month and have given you SEVERAL REMINDERS but you can’t have too many – right?   Right!    So remember, share your recipe for your favorite (or one of your favorites anyway) DESSERT.    Something yummy – gooey – high calorie – terribly sinful – WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR BOAT…………

Not only do we want the recipe (and maybe a photo of your masterpiece??) but we want to know what you PAID at your grocery store for the ingredients.    None of our business?  Maybe not but we like to see what everyone ELSE is paying for the same stuff WE buy in our neck of the woods.   Sometimes it’s rather ASTOUNDING the difference in costs!!

SO – link your post for “SHOPPING” up with Bacon’s blog – he’s in charge of things when it comes to shopping…………………click the badge above to visit him.    His parents have finally returned from their EPIC journey to (wait for it………………….) Australia for vacation!     Oh and it was fun being your guest hosts the past two months………Thanks Bacon for letting us help out!

SEE YOU ON FRIDAY FOR DESSERT TIME!!!

Yeah we like fried food too but dessert is a close second!

Hugs, Angel Sammy and Teddy too
