Friendly Fill-Ins

Let’s Fill-In….Shall We?

Friday is “filling in” blog hop day.    It’s a fun Hop co-hosted by McGuffy’s Reader AND 15andMeowing.    If you click the badge above you will be whisked away to McGuffy’s where you can use Annie’s LINKY tool and join up to play along with us!

I let my Mom do this week’s filling in……………..just kind of seemed like SHE’D have an easier time with these particular sentences than I would so LET ‘ER RIP MOMMY!    Her fill-in words are in BABY BLUE………..

1. Meetings used to drive me crazy when I worked – people would be late, people wouldn’t show up, people would sit like lumps and not contribute – I do NOT miss meetings now that I’m retired!

2. Rules should be treated like “guidelines” – not necessarily cast in stone – sometimes there’s a BETTER way than the rule dictates!.

3. The best time to take a vacation is in the Fall – we have ALWAYS taken vacations in the Fall, after school starts and there are no crowds ANYWHERE!.

4. I have learned that there are no guarantees in life – don’t take a thing for granted – ever.

Gosh Mom – so serious!   Maybe I should tell a joke now so everyone can SMILE again…………..hahahaha……………just kidding.   Thank you for being the filler-inner this week!    Hope everyone has a HAPPY FRIDAY…………….remember how Sammy used to complain about Friday being “cleaning day” here at the house?   Well, it still is, but unlike Sammy I don’t run and hide – I WATCH.   I find it fascinating to see my Mom and Dad in this big flurry of activity straightening, vacuuming, dusting, and the best part about it?   When they’re finished I can drag all my toys back out of my box and make a big mess and watch them all over again!   Tee Hee………….

Hurry up Mom…………I’m waiting for you to finish so I can take a nap in my torn up old red cube!!

Love, Teddy (aka Butter Bean)*

*Butter Bean is my new nickname thanks to my Dad.   When I went to the vet for follow-up blood work I found out I now weigh 15.30 lbs.   That’s up a whole pound since June.   My vet says I’m NOT FAT – I’m “big boned”………my vet is my best buddy now!

    • UHOH….vacations should not be painful…….my Mom thinks September or October for MOST spots to visit works well but I’m sure there are exceptions to that! This year they’ve got a few days off in the Northeast and are hoping Fall will be as beautiful there as it usually is!!

  1. Aw, well done, Butter Bean!!! You’re so cute in that little red cube. Yes, your Mom’s fill-ins are a little serious today, but I’m sure you’re making her LAUGH!

  2. I love butter beans, that is an adorable nickname. 🙂 I am big bones too 🙂 Thanks to your Mom for these great fill-in answers. I try to avoid meetings whenever I can. I agree Fall is the best time to vacation when kids are back in school and there are no crowds, plus it is cooler.#4 is excellent. Have a nice weekend! XO

  3. The only good thing about Mecca no longer caring about our opinions is the fact that we almost never have stupid meetings anymore. I would rather straighten an aisle full of cans of chileh than listen to some manager bloviate about new policies for an hour. And we NEVER got donuts!

    • NO DONUTS???? Now that truly is “cruel and unusual punishment/treatment” and should be reported immediately to the SPCME (Society for Prevention of Cruel to Mecca Employees).

So you don’t run or walk, but you waddle? Hm! Looks like our Mr. Pickwick at his 18 pounds. Sometimes we call him “Chunky Monkey”. But if he wants to, he an still run. Only he does not often WANT to. 😉
Anyway: maybe you need more exercise. 😉 What about asking your Dad to built you a hamster wheel big enough for you? 😉
Well, or just enjoy life as it is.
I wish all of you a wonderful weekend, and for you especially, a great bacon day,

  4. I love your answers. I can relate to them. I know meetings can be tedious. And, I agree, rules need to be evaluated and sometimes changed, especially if they are not working. Amen to Autumn vacations. We love to go up North then. Not only are the colours better, there is the peace and quiet! I especially love #4. Yes, this is so true. You are wise, my friend. HUGS!

    • Autumn vacations………cool breezes, cozy sweaters, beautiful leaves……Maine in October will be PURRFECT we think! I have always followed rules but if I think there’s wiggle room with a rule, I will use it. One thing I really do NOT like is “inflexibility” with things and people. I hope you have a perfect weekend Annie!

  5. I love butter beans, too. In fact, I had some cooking overnight for us to have today. 🙂

I love your answers to #2 and #3. I think oftentimes there is most definitely a better way than the rule dictates. Fall is a great time to visit the Blue Ridge Parkway back home.

I hope that you have a blessed weekend. 🙂

  6. Oh Teddy yay you on standing up to the sucky monster. Guess what my sis told mom she bought one of those battery operated Rooma things that wonders all over the house and then docks itself. They have dark hardwoods everywhere and it does a great job of picking all the kitty furs and OMCS
neither Mia or Frisco are afraid of it? Go Figure?! They are crazy pants cats anyway.

Mom does so agree with your mom’s last fill in
Hugs madi and happy trashing the clean house

    • I love the videos people post of their cats riding around on those Rhoomba thingies – especially the one cat who has a basket on top of it and he lies in the basket and naps while the thing is cleaning the floors. Good grief!!!

  7. I recall the old pre-retirement days, too. Meetings usually were a waste of time. When I worked for a newspaper, people used to say, “Don’t step in the meeting.” That was pretty accurate based on the meetings we had there.

  9. Butter Beans – now that is the perfect name for cute Teddy!!! Your Mom’s answers were right in line with ours. She too hated meetings, nothing ever got accomplished and just ended up sending the attendees out with more work to do.

    • Yep – isn’t it sad when your very own Mom and Dad call you BUTTER BEAN? Well, I don’t really mind – I still get lots of hugs and kisses and tummy rubs whether I’m a BEAN or not!

  10. Compared to Cooper Murphy, you definitely don’t look fat. We like that big-boned description. Our vet warned us the first time she met Cooper that he was going to get big. We all have learned lately how true Mom Pam’s completion of #4 is. Sending love to all. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
