Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday All!

Happy Thursday!     It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian at Brians Home Blog and YOU get a chance to tell the world what you’re thankful for.    This week I’m thankful for those of you who filled out Angel Sammy’s poll about Poetic Thursday – and we’ll talk more about that in a minute.   I’m also thankful for my friends – everyone is so kind and caring and it always shows but most especially when we’ve had so much loss of friends which we have had yet again lately.   Almost every day we get word of someone else crossing that Bridge……….it makes us sad even when we know those who are gone are no longer in pain, no longer feeling the effects of age, or some other problem…..we know their humans are sad to lose their “best friends”.     I wasn’t living here at the time with my Mom and Dad but I do know that they were SO thankful that everyone helped them adjust to life without my big brother Angel Sammy.    We hope TIME will help those who have experienced loss recently………..

If you would like to join in and tell everyone what you are thankful for – please click Brian’s badge above – you will be transported to his blog and you can join in the Blog Hop by using the LINKY tool.

Angel Sammy didn’t let me down (he never would do that!) because he transmitted to me overnight his poem for today’s Poetic Thursday poetry challenge.    Today is the letter “Y” and his poem follows this bit of info about our continuing with our Poetic Thursdays.

Remember the poll I conducted for Sammy’s Thursday Poetry Challenge?   Here are the results:

Sammy’s Poetry Challenge #2

Answer Votes Percent
When we last polled you, 75% of those responding said LET’S DO THE ALPHABET AGAIN….would you STILL like to do that? 11 73%
We asked you in October 2016 if you’d like to do something DIFFERENT for poetry day – if you would like that TELL US SO! Leave a suggestion for me or tell me in your comments!

4 27%

Now about the above Poll………………….we were happy to see that there were more votes for continuing with the Alphabet Challenge for poetry day but there were STILL four of you who wanted something different – – – – so we thought why not combine them?

Starting with NEXT week’s “Z” end of the alphabet poetic challenge, we will give you a choice what to write your poem about for the following Thursday.    We will use the alphabet for the FOUR choices!    Example:

FOR LETTER “A” I might say “write your poem using one of the below four choices as your subject”:

(1) Aardvark (2) Antarctica (3) Asteroid (4) Applesauce           What do you think?  Sound like a plan?   Next week you will have your usual Poetic Challenge though – whatever you want to write about starting with the letter “Z” goes……….but we will give you FOUR WORDS with next week’s post for us all to start with the following week – maybe I should use those “SAMPLE” words I just told you????    I’ll consult with Angel Sammy!

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge my friends!   As promised, I transmitted this poem to my little brother Teddy last night in his dreams…….and he is sharing it with you on my behalf for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday!!!

“Y”

 “Yellow”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, 6/1/17

Yellow is the shining sun

Yellow goldfinches having fun

Yellow buttercups in the breeze

Yellow lemon ice from the freeze!

Yellow grass turns green with lime

Yellow tarnish on silver over time

Yellow nip nanners are a kitty’s delight

Yellow moon shining in the sky at night

Yellow old love letters tucked away

Yellow sun hiding on a rainy day.

Thank you Angel Sammy………………..I look forward to your weekly “transmissions” of your poems AND to your continued guidance and love even though you are almost always at the Bridge now.   I enjoyed your visits and I’m sure you will from time to time but you are where you need to be now – and I will carry on taking care of Mom and Dad for BOTH of us!!!!

Now for some confessions………….Mom thinks I’m a crazy boy because I have totally destroyed the first “kitty cube” she got for me to play in…..I still have it mind you – but Mom got me a NEW one a while ago – a pretty blue one which is not receiving the degree of KITTY KRAZIES that the poor red one did.    So here’s the deal – I want to keep BOTH of them and I play in BOTH of them all the time – every single morning in fact.   Mom and I hang out in her office before Dad gets up and part of what we do is play like crazy in my cubes!

See how wonky the old one is – from me laying all over it and beating it up like mad – bunny kicking, biting, attacking, etc.???   I can’t help it – I love playing in it and using it as a launch pad to land inside the blue one.   Yes – this is part of growing up I guess – destroying toys and having fun!    Also that purple ribbon is my current FAVORITE toy.   I drag it all over the house – this morning Mom found it on her pillow and didn’t even know that I’d deposited it there in the middle of the night!    Tee Hee

Tomorrow is Friday!   We’ll be doing the Friendly Fill-In blog hop…………will you??????????????????

Love, Teddy the Tent Destroyer

    • It is the most pitiful thing you ever saw….you can’t see it (I don’t think) but the material is shredded on one whole side and has extra holes for escaping. I’ve truly DONE that cube! HAHAHA

  2. Yay we say yippee and yay again for your Y poem…mom loves the color Yellow…however, it doesn’t like her. It makes her look like a ghost. MOL MOL MOL

We love the new spin on the alphabet poetry. Mom has her A written..she was kinda thinking of trying to use animals when she could think of stuff. shhhhh our first one will be ‘ape’!

    • Oh using animals is a good idea………….you also might even like one of the prompt words Mom and I will come up with every week! Yellow is a tough color for ladies to wear (Mom says)……..guys look great in yellow but ladies not always. I bet I’d look GREAT in yellow (hahaha).

  3. I LOVE seeing the results of Teddy’s attention…his playing with the red cube! And the blue one is looking a bit frayed too. It’s just a matter of time until it joins the red one in appearance. And that the purple ribbon was on Mom’s pillow just makes my mom happy! A love gift if there ever was one. I bring toys IN to the bedroom but don’t always bring them into the bed. When I do, it’s always Donkey. That’s special. Teddy, I love seeing you again all beautiful and gingery.

    • Oh Katie I know donkey is extra special for you – I probably will CHANGE from the purple ribbon…….in fact the very most special and important “thing” I have is what USED to be my white mouse I inherited from Angel Sammy. It is unrecognizable now. Looks like a pile of rags (which it is). I’ll have to do a post about it one of these days. I still haven’t touched the white replacement mouse Mom got for me when Sammy’s old mouse started falling apart. Mom is just putting “bandages” on it constantly with Dad’s old handkerchiefs so it looks like a big rag (you can actually see it in one of the photos today!)…………I take it with me a LOT. I always go into the bathroom with Mom in the morning when she showers and Mr. Rags comes with me……then when she goes to her closet to dress, Mr. Rags comes with me too……downstairs for breakfast for Mr. Rags next….etc. ALL DAY LONG. I’m a boy with “close friends” who wants them with me all the time.

    • I’m glad you like the poetry challenge change……….I think some won’t like it so we will just say WRITE WHATEVER YOU WANT if you can’t use a prompt. I think it’s important to keep the old brain ticking along with a poem once a week!!!!!

  5. Angel Sammy never disappoints , excellent poem. I like the idea of writing prompts because some letters are tough. You are so adorable Teddy! And how sweet you brought your Mom a ribbon. XO

    • Glad you like the prompt idea for poems………….we can also say “if you don’t want to use a prompt we’ve provided write a poem anyway because a poem a day keeps the BRAIN thinking”!!!!!!!

The ribbon I have is PURPLE……….I love it and carry it EVERYWHERE!

  6. Teddy, you are a total character, and it sounds as if you are enjoying your bouts of Kitten Crazies. These photos are phenomenal. Sammy always sends you a great poem. Mom will decide what to do after “Z.” She suspects that writing a poem will depend on the words from which we will have to select. Of course, we did write one for this week. Like our last “Y,” it is about Fiona and entitled, “Yesterday.” If anyone wants to read it, they can do so here: http://thecatonmyhead.com/?p=25665/

    • I’m definitely MY OWN MAN…..Mom says she may be sorry that she hasn’t “controlled” me during my kittenhood and given me limits but really I’m pretty much getting whatever I want……well, almost. I don’t get to go outside whenever I want. Just two or maximum 3 times a day…….but other than that I’m GOOD TO GO. I hope you decide to hang in and try the new poetic challenge on Thursdays……..Mom won’t make ridiculous words for everyone to choose from…..(well not all the time anyway). We loved your poem about sweet Fiona! Tomorrow it’s six months since Angel Sammy went to the Bridge too……….

    • Glad you liked Sammy’s Y poem today………..and I agree with you about my cubes – my torn one is the first one I had when I came to live here and I won’t let it go no matter what a mess it gets to be…..the new one I like too and it has some of my favorite toys in it. I’m a CUBIST!

      Hugs, Teddy

      Like

    • HAHAHA – funny you should suggest that but each of the cubes (including the torn up one) have Velcro strips that allow you to connect as many cubes as you want but that didn’t work for me – I slam them around so much the Velcro doesn’t hold – and part of the fun is kind of sliding along the floor in the cube I’ve leaped into at 100 miles per hour and I couldn’t do that with “attachments” ! HAHAHAHA

    • Mom thought me rough housing in that red tent when I was newly here was great – I had a toy – I may not ever have had a toy before I was adopted we don’t know……..it was also a place I would hide…….then I learned that you could run and jump on top of it and it would collapse! That’s when I started wearing the poor thing out I think…..well claws MIGHT have played a part in the destruction too!!!
