Today Mom jazzed up my Selfie for the Memorial Weekend…………she couldn’t help herself………….She used a special Memorial Day filter Lunapic had THEN she added the frame with Pizap and VOILA – there I am – showing off my tummy for the holiday weekend.    Ready?

Since it’s Memorial Day weekend, we are remembering a lot of things including my Grandpa………(as well as anyone else who has ever served their country).    My Grandpa was a career Air Force man and my Mom is very proud of him.    His casket flag is in “our” studio so I see it all the time.    He’s at his own Rainbow Bridge in Arlington National Cemetery.

This is my Grandpa two years before he went to the Bridge, escorting my Mom down the aisle when she married my Dad!

  1. I loved your special selfie Teddy! Unique and lovely just as you are. *smooch*. And I love the look back of your mom and her Dad as your mom got married. God bless our soldiers and our Veterans both here and gone on. 💗

    • Oh we certainly do owe a lot to them……….we think about that all the time but especially on days like Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Armed Forces Day – you can’t help but wonder where we’d be today (or even IF we’d be here today!) without all they do and have done to keep us safe.

Mom was so proud of her Dad the day of her wedding – he had retired YEARS before and was so surprised his uniform still fit…..! Have a special weekend!

        • School is out for the holiday – Suzie is probably partying somewhere – Sarge is grilling something at home (I was afraid to ask WHAT he was grilling!) – and we are thinking that today is a good HOLIDAY for breaking Pre-Tease Monday tradition and just EATING our way through the day!

  3. Happy Memorial Weekend Pam. How wonderful you and your Granddad have your wedding photo’s for a special memory. He certainly looked regal. Alys and I visited Arlington Cemetery with Julia in April. Julia’s husband Jeff is there. It’s a beautiful place. Love your photo art with Teddy too. Who could resist a kitty tummy? Blossum loves tummy rubs and will lay on her back purring forever. Big hugs sent your way. Luv Boomdee xo

    • Thank you Boomdee my sweet friend! I’m glad you saw Arlington Cemetery – quite a HUGE place isn’t it. I used to live and work very close to the cemetery so after my Dad died I visited him every day on my lunch hour. Now it’s a horrible commute – traffic around here is ridiculous……but I can so clearly see Dad’s “spot” it’s like I visit it in my mind all the time. After the soldiers put the flags at every gravestone the place looks quite MAGICAL for Memorial Day. Anyway, Teddy says he’s glad you like his tummy photo – he shows that belly off at every opportunity like Blossum!!!

Sending you love and hugs, Pam

      • Pam, I was very moved on my visit this year to Arlington Cemetary. It’s a truly beautiful place to visit. We took flowers for Julia’s husband Jeff and visited with a gentleman who was also sitting and visiting with his beloved wife who passed away in March. He was so so missing her. I still get teary thinking about him coking back his words as he told us about her.
        I hope he’s ok.
I’m on a day off !! I plan to play your Tuesday challenge today….I’ll see you soon ❤ 😀

        • Hi dear Boomdee! It’s impossible to go to any cemetery and not feel the sadness as well as the peace that washes over you but Arlington Cemetery is – well – special somehow. In my Dad’s case, his gravesite is within view of the Pentagon and that was his favorite assignment when he was in the Air Force – he served there twice. Walking along the graves – especially in the very old sections – is amazing. Seeing the areas where the soldiers are buried from all the various conflicts these past few years is almost overwhelming too. Then there’s the people like the gentleman you met there – fresh grief – but having a SPOT to go and sit and have a conversation if you want – I imagine it was somewhat of a comfort for him. Nice that you talked with him…..nice that you took flowers for your friends’ husbands grave. Anyway, I’m glad you visited.

          Love and Big Hugs, Pam
