Friday Shopping and Filling-In!

Another TWO Posts In One Day!

Today, we will do our Shopping Around the World post first.

As you all know, Shopping Around The World was started by Bacon from Pig Love and Fozziemum and lately Bacon has had several blog buddies “Guest Host” this monthly event – we did it last month and this month is Da Phenny’s turn!     This month he chose desserts or sweet treats/comfort treats as the item we should share a recipe for – – something we LOVE to have in our tummy.   We are to share the recipe but more importantly, we tell what the ingredients cost – because it’s amazing to see the difference in prices “around the world” !!

My Mom remembered earlier this week that one of her absolutely ALL TIME favorite comfort foods was a dessert and one of the few that does NOT involve chocolate.    Her Mom used to make this ALL THE TIME and she made it years ago but had forgotten about it.    What are we talking about???

Banana Pudding with Vanilla Wafers

There are a million recipes for this delightful treat and many ingredients are optional for sure……….but one thing they almost ALL have in common is banana pudding mix, bananas and vanilla wafers!

The recipe my Mom makes could NOT be easier……………you can dress the top of this up with whipped cream but my Mom just puts a layer of wafers on top.   Prices in our store in RED.

1 or 2 packages of banana instant pudding mix (you don’t have to use instant but it sure is EASY!) – one or two means whether you want a LARGE dessert or small!   Mom uses TWO packages.   ($1.19/box)

Milk ($1.49 for 2%, 64 oz.)

Fresh bananas ($.49/lb.)

Box of  Vanilla Wafers  ($2.99 a box)

Make the pudding according to the directions – my Mom usually puts SLIGHTLY less milk in than it calls for on the box…….makes it a bit thicker.    While it’s setting up, Mom puts a payer of vanilla wafers on the bottom of the container she’s going to fill with the mixture………..then whacks up 2 or 3 (or however many you want) bananas – thinnish slices and mixes them into the pudding mixture before she dumps the whole thing into the container with the wafers on bottom.    After you put the mixture in, add more bananas to the top or add more wafers to the top – or put whipped cream on top or WHATEVER you want to do to the top is good!

HOW EASY CAN IT GET right?   Pop it in the refrigerator and it is a banana-lovers’ dream.

NOW – shall we Fill-In sentences???

This is another weekly blog hop which we LOVE to do.   We love reading everyone else’s answers too – really find out some interesting stuff about our friends this way!!  Tee Hee   This Hop is co-hosted by our friends Miss Ellen at 15andMeowing and Miss Annie at McGuffy’sReader.   Click the badge above to go to McGuffy’s where you will find a LINKY TOOL and you can add a link to your blog where you can share YOUR fill-ins for the below sentences!    Miss Annie does two and Miss Ellen does two…………This week Teddy gets to fill in and his contributions to the sentences are in GREEN!

1. The first thing I think about in the morning is waking Mom up without waking Dad up so we can have quiet time together (and she can feed me!).
2. The last thing I think about before sleep is finding my white mousie because I always bring it to bed with me.
3. I am looking forward to Cat Scouts this weekend – we’re having a Derby Race with cars we’ve made out of cardboard boxes!

4. I am so pleased that Angel Sammy is teaching me what I need to know to have a safe and happy life in my forever home.

Now that was FUN!    Another double post – we did one yesterday too………What’s on tap for tomorrow?    Well you know by now that it’s BACON SATURDAY and Teddy will again be the STAR – now that he’s taken over as KING OF BACONIA it will be HIS post tomorrow.    Of course I’ll help him if he needs me (wink).

The Ginger Boys………………

Love, Angel Sammy and Teddy too

    • I’m going to try to be cooperative when it’s time to climb in my magic milk truck for the race…….I’ve been in it once and climbed out the windshield – Mom is hoping I won’t do that for the final photo!!!!!

Try the banana recipe – we’re gonna try YOUR recipe too!

      Love, Angel Sam and Ted

  1. White mousie seems like a nice sleeping friend. It’s good to have a buddy. And of course, everything hinges on Mom getting up and cuddling with you. No better way to start the day!

    Love and licks,

  2. That’s right. Cuddling with Mom is the best start to the day. Warm smoochies and pets and snuggles. Nothing betters except nite nite doing the same thing. I have a white mousie but my chocolate fur one is my fave of the fur mousies. See you Bacon Saturday!

  3. You are killing me with the banana pudding and vanilla wafers… I want it right now… for breakfast. Have to get out today, will be buying some pudding, bananas, and vanilla wafers!
#1 I hear you Teddy, I am as quiet as a mouse in the morning so CH stays asleep and I have my quiet time without the TV and him yacking… er, talking to me. I hope we get to see a picture of your racer. Angel Sammy is the best and he will always take care of you Tedders… forever!
Good Morning… shhhhhh. Still quiet in this house… 🙂

    • Oh that banana pudding didn’t stand a chance in our refrig. Mom and Dad finished it off last night….which of course means Mom will be getting MORE of the above at the grocery Sunday. They are “re-hooked” on this stuff and I hae to admit, I got to TRY the pudding and I could easily be a banana-man!!! I will show off my racer after the TOP SECRET event tomorrow……Mom and Dad did a grand job on it for me. It won’t compare to some of the AMAZING other cars entered because some people go INSANE building miniature vehicles of all description but mine is FUN!

Shhh…..oh wait – we’re all UP here so don’t have to be quiet!

      Love, Teddy

  4. That looks sooo good. I might make that this weekend, I gave up chocolate for Lent so this is perfect. Thanks you Teddy for participating in the fill-ins, I loved your answers. I think it is so sweet you take your mousie to sleep with you. My Sammy is looking forward to the derby too, it is always a lot of fun. XO

    • Good luck with the pudding – Mom and Dad have finished theirs off so I guess Mom will be churning out ANOTHER batch this weekend! I couldn’t possibly go to sleep without my mousie – Angel Sammy says so.

      Love, Teddy

  5. Hidey ho Teddy K!! OMCs I have never taken a toy to bed…the peeps have restless feets so I just play with them…for a while…when the call me Madison I quit.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  6. Those are good fill in answers, Teddy. The recipe sounds delicious, but my mum doesn’t think she has seen banana instant pudding mix here. Would it be something like banana flavoured Angel Delight?

    • We’ve heard about the Angel Delight stuff before from across the pond and YES it would be about the same………I think it would turn out just DELISH with it in fact! Any pudding will do really – non-instant is the way my Mom used to make it before someone made instant. It’s just pudding of any kind!

      Love, Teddy

  7. Banana pudding is one of the bestest desserts out there and brings happy memories of my childhood to me. My daddy and my granny (his mama) made the best banana puddings that I’ve ever had. They never used a mix, though. They made the vanilla pudding from scratch. The instant pudding is easier, definitely, but when I make it, I make it like Daddy and Granny did. I don’t make it often. 🙂 They also layered it like a lasagna: wafers on bottom, then pudding & banana mixture, more wafers, another pudding/banana layer, etc. until everything was used. Then, they added a meringue layer on top and popped it in the oven to brown the meringue. I remember watching them beat the egg whites to make the meringue. They did this by hand with a fork and it took FOREVER! I remember one time my daddy made an alternative banana pudding. He used beets instead of bananas. They both start with “B”, right? haha Whatever made him do such a thing, I have no clue, but it was definitely a taste experience. I was so surprised that my “banana” pudding was red that I don’t even remember if I liked it or not. haha

I enjoyed your answers. Happy Bacon Saturday to you all and have a blessed weekend. 🙂

  8. Holy cats! How do you post double? I am ashamed that I don’t post one a day like I used to do, about 250 years ago. I am hoping the A-Z, and my new prompt book (gifted to me by a special blogger), that I will get my groove back. I have dog stories to share, then more cat stories.
Have fun with that Scout Derby. I will watch for the update. Teddy, you have a heckuva’ mentor.
And, Mom, you have a wonderful little guy to keep you busy. And one to watch over you all. HUGS.

    • Mom and I both feel lucky to have each other…..she helps me learn how to be a good grown up kitty boy and I help her to stay busy keeping ME happy (hahahaha). You WILL get your groove back – Mom says her groove has deserted her many times but it’s always wandered back when it was good and ready. Just BELIEVE………

      Love, Teddy

  9. Hello There…..Me, my Mommy, my Daddy, my Pack, and Holly want to thank you for the POTP and all the warm thoughts when we all thought we might have to say goodbye to Holly. She is doing great, the surgery was successful, and the evil “C” is no longer an immediate threat.

POTP is so powerful when we all join paws in Blogville for a furiend.

Thank you and we love you!

Amber, Max, Holly, the Pack and the Pawrents!
By the way….that banana pudding looks delish! 🙂

    • Oh we could NOT be happier about Holly…..that makes us feel SUPER GOOD to hear. POTP is super powerful – it’s the best kind of prayer chain and with so many who are in it with so much love involved, it can MOVE MOUNTAINS!! We will continue to hope the very best for Holly and ALL of you. We are FURRRAMILTY after all!

Love and Hugs and TRY THAT BANANA PUDDING!
      Teddy, Angel Sam and Mom

    • Hi Siddhartha! Yes I thought the banana pudding was pretty tasty although Mom only let me have a tiny lick. The white mousie I have was Angel Sammy’s……so it’s OLD – and falling apart….but I love it more than all my other toys because even though I never met Sammy, I love him dearly and want to keep him by my side. Mom is trying to keep the mousie held together with Dad’s old hankie. She bought me a NEW white mousie but I don’t love it – I love the old beat up one!

      Happy Sunday!
