Shopping Around The World!!

Standard

A REMINDER!!!!

HUH?

Yes I know you’re not used to ME hosting “Shopping Around The World” rather than our buddy and pal Bacon BUTT I’m helping him and his Mom out this month – fun huh????

SHOPPINGAROUNDTHEWORLD

Yes indeed it’s that time of the month again (no not THAT time but THIS time) and we’re going to ask you to do the usual thing – do your post and link back to ME (yep – ME this month) so we can not only see what your recipe is but hopefully see some photos of it AND see what the prices of the ingredients were.    After all, that’s the most fun (other than eating of course) – seeing what the prices around the world are for the ingredients!   It’s amazing to me what WE pay compared to YOU all.

So what are we gonna do for “Shopping” this month?    How about we focus on something just a bit different – let’s all do a recipe for a MAIN COURSE that has NO MEAT, CHICKEN, or FISH in it…….   Surely you have something you make that is a veggie type dish as a main course?   Lots of peeps these days are changing eating habits so there are a lot of great recipes that have no meat, chicken or fish in them but are delish main courses.    SO, let’s see what you can come up with.    Then post on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24th, and link your post on that day to ME!

If you don’t HAVE a recipe like that, find one you like and share it with US.   WE CAN DO THIS!    Just remember provide recipe, a photo if possible, AND prices for ingredients.    Oh boy – I can’t WAIT to see what you post!!!

  2. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes indeedy we have a tried and true vegetarian bean soup that mom has been making for at least 30 years. She found the recipe in Woman’s Day Mag. She used to make it every year for the annual NCSU departmental student’s ‘food from your country” event at Christmas. Hugs Madi your bfff

  3. Yes, of course I can do a veggie recipe. As long as I can use dairy and/or eggs all is well. Just when you ask me to go vegan I’m on strike. One of my most beloved dishes is vegetarian, no meat (chicken is meat, too), no fish – just four kinds of vegetables, a little flour, a little butter, a little milk and loads of cheese … Looking forward to it, that is my dinner on the 23rd planned (Well, to post it up on the 24th I have to buy the ingredients before and get cooking before …).

      • Veggies are great. I prefer to have veggie dishes where vegetables stand for themselves – and not “in place” of meat. I hate the idea of imitating meat dishes with vegetables (particularly tofu wiener) – if I want veggie, I want veggie, not the imitation of something else. If I want meat, I will have meat. So you can look forward to a dish with three vegetables and a cheese bechamel sauce. Gratiné. The magic word as my sister claims.

  4. We will be looking forward to everyone’s posts for this! The mom lady here is a vegetarian, so veggie main dishes are always something she is interested in hearing about!

    • Nellie I was a major carnivore too – we can’t help it after all – we are jungle cats!!! Eating vegan is a whole lot more healthy for our humans though…..I’m sure your Mommy can find a totally fab recipe for this month’s “shopping” project!!!!

    • Hi Dezi and Raena! Your Mommy doesn’t have to actually buy stuff for a recipe – just go online and most local grocery stores have websites where they show the prices of stuff. That’s what we do. Our grocery store tells us what everything costs on that day – so we copy that info into our post and Mom uses one of her favorite recipes to look stuff up online. EASY PEASY. So even if you don’t have money to buy the stuff it’s usually easy to find out how much stuff costs then use it for your recipe.

  8. Awesome cousin. Again, thank you so much for hosting this month. My mom/dad are like yours – meat eaters. Snorts with piggy laughter. However, dad worked out a great post for this month for your blog hop. It should be interesting and slightly humorous coming from the daddy as you can imagine. Can’t wait for the big day. Thanks buddy! XOXO – Bacon
