‘Tis Time for Poetry!
Welcome Poetry Lovers! Today is the one day a week that my blog kicks it up a notch and introduces some “CLASS” (remember lower class is still a class….hahahahaha) to my blog with a day of poetry. The challenge is to follow the alphabet and each week feature a poem about something with that week’s letter – and this week our letter is:
“I”
Yep, the good old letter I. This was tough to decide on……but I finally did and I hope you like my little bit of homage to the lovely letter “I”!
Imagine
By Sammy Kimmell, August 11, 2016
If your day is crummy
And you’re having a tough time
Don’t sit there like a dummy
Boredom is a crime!
Imagine that you’re on a trip
Just close your eyes and see
Imagination takes us far away
To where we want to be.
Imagine you’re all alone
No home for you in sight
Imagine you wish you were cozy and warm
Not struggling through the night.
We are so lucky, you and I
We have our happy homes
Imagine how sad it is for those
Who don’t and constantly must roam.
Imagine what a lovely world
It would be if we’d together
Find happy homes for humans and animals
So they’d all have THEIR “Forever” !
Mom and I couldn’t help but think of that John Lennon song “Imagine” when we wrote this one………………we wish that one day everyone will live in peace and harmony. I think we ALL wish for that but it seems sometimes to be so far away…………let’s hope it isn’t – let’s hope…………..and let’s always and forever……….
IMAGINE
If you write a poem today with the letter “I”, feel free to put your blog link in my comments so others can visit you and read your work! OR alternatively, post your poem HERE in comments – I love Poetry Day – don’t you?
Love and Peace, Sammy
How about this?
Roses are red,
Irises are blue,
You’re the best cat,

My sentiments exactly, Sammy! If I can get along with Binga, why are humans having such a hard time getting along with each other?

We wrote a nice comment, and some how are screwy mom deleted it. MOUSES! We are going to try to remember what we said: Something about you and Mom Pam being inspired when you began Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. Mom is happy to have a reason to write poetry every week as she was only doing it occasionally for Mau or an event. Once again we both picked the same theme but wrote such different poems. Your poem was excellent and very thoughtful. If anybody wants to read our poem, here is the link: http://www.thecatonmyhead.com/imagiantion-explanation

(( Pam )) what a beautiful poem and I felt your words tremendously. Because we live very central in our city, I’m touched by homelessness almost every day. The need for services is great and it wrenches my gut to know someone is lonely or hopeless, including any forgotten animals. Last night, while driving home, I came to a stop sign where a younger first-nations man was leaning, hand out, eyes closed. I unrolled the passenger window and leaned over to ask, “hello, are you alright”? He very slowly walked to my window, it was a step down from the curb. I hesitated only briefly, I didn’t want him to fall and saw he was disabled in some way. I didn’t smell any alcohol and he was totally alert and co-herant. “hello miss, I can’t work since an accident”. Sad, but he simply had no other means to get by because of our long waiting list for housing and help. I wondered how many people just drove by making an assumption that this man was impaired? I gladly helped and asked that he spend it wisely and to stay somewhere’s safe overnight.
I’m not sharing this for any accolade at all. I’m only hoping that any one who may read it, consider helping if they see someone in need and know it’s a good thing to take the time to see, notice, ask and help without judgement. You don’t always know what you think you know. Not everyone is as blessed as we are. I knew from the moment you and I connected Pam, that you were a very kind heart. I love you for this xo ❤ K

Oh Boomdee…..bless your heart – for so many reasons but certainly this kindness you extended to someone who truly needed some understanding. It’s heartbreaking to see people wandering aimlessly looking for help or shelter……and while that is ever so important, I feel the same when I see so many animals helpless, alone, starving, homeless…..treated with cruelty…… A lot of us say this but I have NEVER EVER meant it more than I do now at this point in my life – I wish we could fill our hearts with love and help each other get through life in the BEST way possible with compassion and kindness for humans AND animals alike. Thanks for your gesture with the man at the stop sign…..just as they said when the astronauts stepped on the moon for the first time “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” – it takes one step at a time to get there.
Love and Hugs…………..Pam
