Yeah, that’s hip talk for “what’s up” ? Or maybe the word HIP isn’t so “hip” anymore………it was back many moons ago when my Mom actually WAS “hip” but we’ve lost touch with the lingo of this current generation I think. Here’s a photo I stole borrowed purloined found of Mom in the “hip” days………don’t laugh OK? She gets upset when people laugh at this one:

Anyway, I can tell you what’s up with me and it’s not much. We’ve had so much rain I’ve been practically trapped indoors but yesterday wasn’t too bad and tomorrow is not going to be bad either…………..we won’t have sun but we won’t have rain. I’ll take it!!
Dad’s gonna go flying in his MACHINE………
And will probably fly over the house while he’s up there………………..(my house is three to the left of that lake – the one with green trees on either side of it!)
Of course I won’t be outside to see him – if Mom and I ran outside every time we heard a small plane flying overhead we’d be dizzy from running – there are two Regional airport near us and LOTS of flying going on! Anyway, I know he will love it………he’s definitely part bird. This photo was snapped BEFORE we got all nice and leafed out from the Spring – you can see the house better that way really.
SO, what’s Mom gonna be doing? While Dad’s flying Mom will be keeping ME company which is her #1 job. I’m definitely her priority. I like it like that too! Since I’m not feeling at the top of my game all that much anymore I do sleep a whole lot which gives Mom a chance to grab a nap during the day – since I wake her up at 2AM I suppose it’s the least I can do letting her have a daytime nap!
C’mon Mom…..pop on up here with me and snooze a while!
We need to rest up because I’m sure you know that tomorrow the Broomhildas will be arriving with little baby Boomer (I found out his name!) and who knows WHAT that will do to my nice, peaceful quiet day???

Thanks for the “cute” but Mom really can’t BELIEVE she used to bleach her hair like that……..she kept it blonde for several years. Anyway, we’re all planning for PEACEFUL today – Dad just left a little while ago for the airport and while it’s a bit overcast, it’s not windy so as long as there’s no fog he’ll be up there chugging around in no time! Hope you and your Mom have a splendid day!

I love groovy days Sammy! And tell your dad that my mom is a pilot too. However, she has not flown in quite a bit. After the children started arriving and money got shorter…things slowed considerable. She soloed at 13. I should post a picture of mom with her elevated hair style with teasing, or at 13 standing by the Piper.

Oh Katie please do post a photo of her with her plane!!! My Dad has been flying for 50 years this Fall. He loves his little Cessna so much he never bought a bigger plane…….just likes the “doodlebug” and it’s not expensive to operate thankfully. Mom goes with him often and loves it too……but she has a lot to do around the house and of course there’s POOR PITIFUL OLD ME to keep an eye on (ha).

Mom says THANKS for the compliment – I guess that photo is 40+ years old! I’m thinking my Dad is having some fun in the air – it’s not a sunny day but there’s no wind and it’s not hot……….he wasn’t going to fly anywhere – just bump around in the sky and do some takeoffs and landings for practice………he said he’d be home at noon. Hi Sammy! Your mum looks sweet in her photo. My mum says she had a dress the same colour and almost the same style back then. She also was always in jeans and T shirts.
I check on my mum every half hour or so through the night and wake her up by sitting on her chest and giving her a very loud meow. All that checking makes me tired so then I sleep most of the day.
I am feeling quite a bit better today. Hope you are okay too.

Thanks for saying that about my Mom…..she remembers that she felt funny in that dress but her then-husband’s parents wanted their son and his blonde wife (haha) to get “formal” photos taken so Mom had to QUICK buy a dress. Mom has always been a “jeans kinda girl”………I think it’s nice that you check on your Mom all night long…..that truly must
drive her nutsmake her happy! I don’t go to my Mom but I call out every couple of hours just to remind her that I’m there (or that I want her to get out of bed and come check on me!!!!). I hope she appreciates that I’m just “checking in”. I’m glad you’re feeling better today my friend because I do worry about you, but now that we have a FORMAL PACT to hang in there for our Moms and Dads – we’ll just keep each other motoring along OK? CH and I are going to have a lunch date and I am going to spend some money on clothes. CH’s nephew and nephew’s wife are flying in from Arizona and we are all getting together on Saturday and I want some new clothes!!! Maybe new sandals. They are coming and we are going to celebrate the news that we are going to have a new great nephew in September… maybe he will be born on my birthday! I am going to need a nap this afternoon too. But we have to mow when we get home because mower hunka man Travis hasn’t started mowing yet so I will be on the zero turn and CH on the lawn tractor… yikes! I am just a chatty Pix today 🙂

Hi gang! Mom thinks that photo was taken about the same time as your parents’ photo (which was FAB). Early 70s. She was living in Florida so the blonde hair and slight tan were “important” then. HAHAHA I was letting Mom sleep until 4AM but recently began a 2AM regimen which she’s not particularly fond of. Tee Hee Dad had a GRAND time playing up in the clouds – he came home for lunch. The sun FINALLY came out here – was cloudy this morning. It’s nice to see OLD SOL!

The cool thing about my Dad’s plane is it’s light enough that my Dad thinks he could actually “glide” it down out of the sky if he lost the engine. But we don’t think about that…….Mom and Dad say it’s the closest thing to knowing what a bird feels like in a SMALL plane…..not like a commercial jet. My Mom and Dad love flying in commercial jets though because when they do, that means they’re going somewhere FUN! HAHAHAHAHA
