Beauteous Bacon

And Today I’m HAPPPPPYYYY!!!!

Happy Bacon Day universe………I’m celebrating it and I hope you are too.

BACONBEG9I just LOVE when I get tingly all over………………….

I’ve got my bacon hat on and I’m just waiting for the smell of that delicious stuff to reach my nose then I’ll leave the stairs and head down to the kitchen where Mom will have a platter full of bacon waiting for me (ok…..maybe that’s a slight exaggeration….how about a small piece or two???).    Then I’ll really be starting the weekend right.   Bacon in the belly and all is well.

Things would be more simple if someone would make arrangements in this wonderful world full of technical marvels that we live in to make it possible to download the stuff though.   I’d be in Mom’s office all day every day………making a bacon stash!

BACONBEG10We must hope that the day never comes when this little guy’s face is OUR face – a shortage simply CANNOT be tolerated!   WE NEED BACON!

If you feel like I do, you need one of my Club badges……..declare yourself a Baconator like I am!   That’s right – be proud of it!   I sure as heck am (**munch, munch, crunch, crunch**) !!

Happy Bacon Day!

Cleaning Day

When the weather outside is too cold to do anything out there – what do you do?   CLEAN THE HOUSE!   Yep – even if it wasn’t the usual day for housecleaning around here (which it is), we’d probably be doing it.   There’s been a lot of in/out/in/out around here – trudging down to the mailbox at the bottom of the driveway, taking ME ME ME out on the front porch and down the sidewalk (now that it’s free of snow and ice!) and trips to the outside trash can………… even though Mom and Dad (not me of course) change shoes from “inside” to “outside” shoes, some dirt/sand/whatever gets inside.

Out comes the MONSTER……………… handles it all – noisily of course but it’s handled!

I’ll tell you how it makes me feel Dr. Puppy, it makes me feel like my head will explode from the noise!    BUT, I just go down to the basement and wait it out.

Before you know it – things are back to normal………………..

I say normal but you know what?  I’m not sure there is a “normal” around my house……………..if there is, he’s hiding in a closet somewhere and only comes out at night when we can’t see him.   Probably goes to my treat bowl and helps himself.   Watch it Mr. Normal……..I’ve got my EYES on you!

Happy Friday!!

Melting Thursday

Hello!    We are MELTING………..well not “WE” but our area is getting some good sunshine and temps in the 40s so all of this snow is slowly but surely disappearing.  We still have over a foot of it on the lawn but the streets are looking good so there’s HOPE after all – at least for us.   Some places got a lot more of Jonas’s white stuff than we did so we hope they fare as well as we are………

We hope maybe that’s our annual quota of snow so we won’t get any more……………fat chance right?

My parents were finally able to drive out of our neighborhood yesterday – which was a good thing because even though Mom had stocked up on EVERYTHING before the storm came, we were almost (gasp) out of Gerber’s Beef Baby Food which is what I take my pill with!

SAMGERBERYep – they don’t know it but I could be their new poster child.  It’s the only thing Mom has found that I will eat that icky pill in…………..and trust me – we tried EVERYTHING!

Now something serious for a minute………………one of my oldest and dearest and cutest friends, Alfie (also known as Gaylord) from Mollie and Alfie’s blog went to the Bridge a few days ago.   Their Mom has a wonderful online (Etsy) store with all kinds of wonderful handmade and FUN things for pets.   I have a lot of their stuff in my house – toys and placques – nip mats too – everything is wonderful (there’s a link to the store on my sidebar).   My heart was broken to learn that Alfie had gone but then I realized when I read their blog that Alfie the Angel only has ONE ANGEL WING right now because he has a mission to stay here and drive his sister Mollie crazy – which is how he will earn his SECOND Angel Wing.   I’m sure he can do this too as he and Mollie were FAST friends.    Please visit Alfie’s blog if you haven’t already…………and his store too – they have links on their blog to the store as well.   Alfie was a dear boy – he and Mollie were “the two Blondes” on the other side of the Pond…………Click on Alfie One Wing’s photo to visit:

I will miss you Alfie………..

Now – please resume your regular internet surfing because that’s it for my blog for today!  See you tomorrow peeps!

Love, Sammy

Shopping Around The World

(Click the above shopping cart to visit our host, Bacon from PIGLOVE for this FUN Shopping/Recipe Blog Hop!!!!!)

EEEK!   Mom has had a bad cold so we’ve not been keeping up very well with cyberspace activities and have to admit Shopping Around The World was on our calendar for TOMORROW!   Where did Mom come up with that one?!?!?!   Oh well…………..we’ll just post our soup recipe TODAY!

My parents LOVE this one…….and I have to admit, since Mom has to make chick-hen to use in the recipe, I always get a bit of a hand-out so I like when she makes this!!!  It’s her easy way of making Chicken Corn Chowder Soup!

2 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (optional!!!!!!)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 cups 2% reduced-fat milk
2 cups chopped roasted skinless, boneless chicken breasts (about 2 breast halves)
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels (about 3 ears)
1 teaspoon chopped fresh or 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 (14 3/4-ounce) can cream-style corn
Melt the butter in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and jalapeño; cook for 3 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. Add flour; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in milk and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil; cook until thick (about 5 minutes).
Easy Peasy – and MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM good!    Since most of the items above are things you’d PROBABLY have in your cupboard anyway, we’re only including prices for a few of the items:
Chicken:   on sale this week for $1.99 lb.  !!!
Frozen Corn:   12 oz. $2.15
Mom says that was a good sale price for chicken breasts – at least around here………………………anyway, this is a very yummy soup so encourage your parents to make some so you can have some of the CHICKEN as a snackable!

Hugs, Sammy
