Weather Woes

Yuck

We’ve been pretty danged lucky about weather the past few weeks………..more sun and nice temps in the 60s than we have a right to look for normally this time of year!   It’s been grand.  Mom and Dad have been out there chugging around the yard picking up leaves with the leaf machine on the lawn tractor and kind of think maybe one or TWO more times will do it for the season.  That means putting all that stuff away before Christmas!  YAY!  No more noise!

Today our luck ran out though – we are having rain from the really bad system that’s been in the middle of the country – some of it made its’ way here BUT not the SCARY part – no tornados, etc. – just a heck of a lot of RAIN and colder temps.   My little trips to the front porch for fresh air will be fewer and farther between.   For one thing I do not like to get wet.  I will go out in a light shower – then when we come back inside Mom dries me off with a towel.  Sometimes Mom will carry an umbrella and I know if I stick close to her feet/legs, the umbrella will keep ME from getting wet too!  I’m no dummy!

The next week we have Thanksgiving but do you realize what that means after Thanksgiving has left?  IT MEANS CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE.   I haven’t done a lick of Christmas shopping – nor have I  gotten Christmas cards to send to my buds!  I haven’t done A THING.   Good grief……the clock is ticking and I’m sitting on my tushie here in the house taking it easy.   So is my Mom – what’s with her?   She needs to start shopping for ME and Dad!   MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!    I can see that when she and Dad get back from their Thanksgiving overnight trip to W. Virginia, I will have to “kick some butt” around here………..that’s right – I said a bad word but somebody has to be in charge of this family of layabouts and I guess it will be ME!

SO – do you have to keep your humans on track too?   Or are they ahead of the game and already shopping………….maybe mine are just extra lazy.   One GOOD thing is Mom says after they get back from Thanksgiving they will begin getting the Christmas decorations out – that means my TREEEEEEEEE and my CHOOO CHOO TRAIN!!!!!   Surely once those things go up in the library Mom will get the BIG Christmas spirit and start looking for things to fill my stocking this year.   After all – I’ve been EVER SO GOOD!!!

    • What good does it do to say we’ll back off of going nutso if we don’t follow through – right? Mom says the same thing……the more she says enough is a enough, she takes on more. Humans are crazy………yes????

  2. My human has almost no shopping – she doesn’t have any family other than her boyfriend, and just has one more thing to get for him. I don’t know what us kitties are getting… yet!

    • Summer I bet your human is getting you something spectacular……….my Mom does easy shopping – almost 100% online………except for stocking stuff – she likes getting that stuff “in purrrson” in a store.

  4. Sammy it is raining here too and OMCs they were supposed to finished installing our windows today but no way they can do it this morning…well maybe the ones over the sink and in the garage but not inside the house

    • OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You mean the window project will be on hold? Actually I guess they can’t do it in the rain or your house would get waterlogged inside!!! Here’s hoping they can do a couple of them anyway and that soon it will be over – I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

  5. I think MissouREE’s rain is visiting you! We got a total of 6 inches on Tuesday… crazy! It started raining about 2am Tuesday and didn’t stop until 5pm Tuesday. We did errands (and bought pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting) yesterday and the Moreau River was out of its banks more than we have ever seen. Cows and horses were heading for high ground!

    CH has one more swipe with the lawn tractor and leaf sucker and we will be done. Those pesky Bradford’s don’t want to get nekkid. I have to get Turkey day over before I can think about Christmas… 🙂 But I can see how you would be all excited over Christmas and Santa, Sammy! Enjoy your Thursday! We are headed to “Kimmellswein” country today to meet friends for FOOD and wine… Yay!

    • We figured YOUR rain would arrive here today and it sure did – wowzers. Up on the hill at least we aren’t worried about flooding but I’m sure some peeps are! Pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting??? Man oh man do they sound DELISH! I’m thinking of making a pumpkin cheesecake to take to Thanksgiving next week….I’m in charge of “dessert” ! We figure maybe two more trips around the yard but you’re right about those pesky bradfords – why do they INSIST on not cooperating??? We usually put all the leaf equipment AWAY then when the bradfords finally dump their leaves, David will just herd them into the woods with his backpack blower!

      Enjoy your Kimmellswein day today – that will be TONS OF FUN……….wish we were there with you!

  6. We are totally behind with efurrything. We have no tree and not one gift nor an idea what we could buy… well I have some ideas, but my mom disliked efurry single one :o( and not even my momma is in shopping-mood with that horrible weather …. not even the new album of dad’s rival rod could cheer her up… I’m afraid that’s a serious case of fall-blues :o)

    • UHOH…..if Rod doesn’t cheer your Mom up, there’s no hope! Maybe if Dad dressed up like Rod and lip-synched a song or two for her???? It’s worth a try!!!! Your Mom is a shopper so if she’s not in the mood that doesn’t say much for the Christmas spirit in your crib!

  7. Oh, I’m sure your mom has lots of gift ideas in mind for you & your dad, Sammy! It is an exciting time of year, isn’t it? Sorry about the rain, but maybe you’ll get to go out for a few minutes between showers!

    • Well your Mom HAS been busy with other things but even that was NECESSARY other things……I think you will have a super good Christmas this year – your Dad’s better and that’s the BESTEST GIFT EVER!

  9. Oh Sammy Friday night we are supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow. I am ahead of the game this year. Have all my shopping done except for GC’s. Hope the rain goes away. Have a great day.

  10. Oh cousin – we are experiencing this awful weather too. Mom came home late last night and we were all getting worried with the weather being so bad out there. And no. Your mom/dad are with mine. They haven’t done zip for the holidays yet. Mom is taking off ALL of next week – happy day. That’s when I’m getting out my snout of persuasion and will try to get her back on schedule. Lord knows we need to get everything done quickly because when that evil elf gets here, who knows what he will do – squeals with horror! Be safe and dry my cousin. XOXO – Bacon

  12. I know Santa will be extra good to such a sweet boy like you. That is a nice train. I have been slacking this year too. I usually have a lot of gifts bought by now, but I don’t even have a list of who to buy for yet. And we need to design a Christmas card to send to all our kitty friends. Have a nice nap on this rainy day. XO

    Here, we have a wonderful late autum: cool nights [below 40] and pleasant days [low 70s], with blue sky and bright sunshine: we – including the feline crew – are really enjoying the weather.

    • Good thing our Moms have us around to make sure they actually DO something isn’t it? Otherwise they’d be on the sofa all day watching soap operas and eating bon bons (what’s a bon bon????!!!!) HAHAHA

    Like youss’, we had an xtendin Autumm an it has been wunderfull.
    As fur Catmass stuff, LadyMum iss only sendin out a few caredss. So far no deco’ss have gone up. Shee iss not inn thee spirit yet….
    Shee said shee doess want to get mee sum new toys fur Chanuukah….so wee shall see!!

    • Hi Nephew! So you may see some snow this weekend huh? No sign of it here but we know lots of other peeps are talking about it so I’m sure it will be here soon………today though is sunny and already almost 50! We don’t send a lot of cards out either but when Mom gets the cards out, I know it won’t be long before the decorations come out too. I love the tree especially…….and the choo choo train!

        • Hi Nephew! I’ve seen on several blogs today that there’s snow already……..EEEEK…….not here yet although it was 27 here this morning so if we’d had ANY kind of “wet” it would have been snow or sleet!

    • We do have tons of worms when it rains – especially in the Spring. Not as many this time of year but there are SOME and they are usually already drowned in the puddles before I get to them! Oh well……the only good worm is a dead worm right? HAHAHAHA

  21. We just had all that rain and our Mom tries to dry us off with towels too, but we just shake it off – BOL. The MOmster really needs to get going with all the Christmas preps too, but she says let’s get Thanksgiving done first:)

  22. Mommy and the grandpawents tend to keep gift-giving simple. There might be a gift card to the movies or a restaurant or two, but mostly we enjoy short getaway trips to the beach or the mountains for the holiday instead of gifts. Grandma used to make sure Miss D was welcome wherever we went, which was pretty cool.

  23. We have had too much rain here Sammy, and it has been very mild. It is forecast to get much colder at the weekend, but at least it is supposed to be drier. I haven’t got my Christmas cards done yet either, so I will have to kick butt too! hehe!!

  29. Don’t worry Sammy, after Christmas every year I swear to myself that I will be more organized next year but every year, including this one, it just sort of sneaks up on me. LOL! It’s all good, we will get there!

    • Oh I’ve been known to be naughty but not very often…..and not in the last few years really – I’m “Mr. Cool” now that I’m older. I do still enjoy the Christmas tree every year though so I’m excited about that……I can’t imagine having warm Christmases. Mom really hated that about living in Florida although it DID get cool in the winter but no pretty Fall leaves and no snow and no fires in the fireplace so she came back to Virginia and STAYED!!!!!

        • Hope to see you here again! My Mom wrote a murder mystery and two kids books then decided to try blogging (just for me!!!!!)….she says “writing is writing” but secretly I think she misses writing books. Anyway, if you have kittens you know we keep humans on their toes at all times. No matter how old we get………I was a kitten 16 years ago and I still remember how much FUN it was….I still have fun now – only SLOWER! haha

          • We blog every day……EEEEEEEEEEK! Even though I’m an old guy kitty I can manage to fill up a blog page with minutia pretty well. Mom draws and paints when she’s not writing – but I DO keep her pretty busy because I’m also a member of Cat Scouts (yes there is a Cat Scouts organization believe it or not) AND taking care of me and my Dad can get labor intensive at times (hahaha). Anyway, come back any old time……….we’re here all day every day.
