Finally Friday

Standard

Ahhhh………….it’s been a long week and it’s gonna get longer………seems that nasty hurricane is headed our way……..of course it still could change course but North Carolina and Virginia are the current “likely” detinations for Joaquin so who knows?!   We’ve already had three days of rain which means our soil is saturated and we don’t need any more……….but we’re likely to get a whole lot more so we’re just going to settle in for the duration – what choice do we have anyway?!?!?!?!   Mom Nature has her own little way of keeping us on our toes!

MOTHER NATURE

Too bad she’s not gonna be sprinkling her flowers around – looks like we’ll get rain and wind instead of this PRETTY STUFF she does so well!

As long as we don’t lose power I’ll be around.   You betcha!

This has been a weird year for weather……………Mom and Dad were talking at dinner last night and saying “what do you suppose this means about WINTER this year???” – meaning since it’s been strange so far, what will winter bring………let’s hope it’s not blizzards and FEET AND FEET of snow (oops…..did I say that out loud?!?!?!?!).

SamSelfiesnow

I’ll be ready though if we DO get snow!!!!

One good thing about this week is that it’s ending on a HIGH note…………..Mom and Dad are making bacon this morning…………who knew?  Seems like a real bacon bonanza doesn’t it?   I say it’s just what the doctor ordered!

I prescribe BACON.....and plenty of it!

I prescribe BACON…..and plenty of it!

And tomorrow is my regular BACON DAY………..ONE SPOILED CAT – that’s me!

Hugs, Sammy

    • I hope we don’t have a lot of snow – Dad believes the Almanac is almost always RIGHT ON TARGET! Hurricane Joaquin is now NOT coming ashore here but further up the coast…hopefully you all will only get rain from it too!

  1. I love that hat and coat, S. I hope Mom doesn’t see it, or she’ll be shopping online to get me one…. I’m not sure about wearing a hat. My flat head can’t handle it.

    • I’m not a clothes guy but Mom occasionally insists on doing the unsensible thing and stuffing me into something. What’s with that? Don’t I suffer enough with these overnight trips of hers?????

Seal it up and forget about it and buy a big old heater???? EEEEEEK! You can all move here and share our fireplace……….how’s that?!?!?!

  3. Well, Sammy, hopefully that ol’ hurricane will head out to sea. The forecast is looking better at this point, anyway. (As long as he doesn’t change his mind!)
    Enjoy that bacon!

  4. We’ve heard that we’re going to have a colder than normal Winter here in Florida! We’re watching that storm and it looks like the 5am track has hit farther away from the coast. Yippeee for BACON two days in a row!

  6. After reading comments it looks better for you with the hurricane. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that it goes out to sea. We sure could use some rain, we haven’t had rain in a month and a half and we are parched. Ground is cracked and dust is blowing all over. Be keeping an eye on you and where Joaquin decides to travel. Enjoy your bacon, Sammy!

    • Looks like the silly hurricane has decided to stay EAST of us…..I think along the shore it will still be bad with flooding but we’re just getting a lot of rain and a bit of a breeze…….we can handle that although we’re saturated with WET. Wish I could send you some!!!!!

  9. Sammy, our humans just keep saying about this never-ending rain, “Thank God, it’s not SNOW! All of us are so over this. Stay warm and dry in Mom Pam’s lap. Astrid is now in our mom’s lap, using her left arm (as usual) as her pillow, making Mom type one handed. Sure takes a lot longer. 10. Of course, you KNOW that my human’s boyfriend is off on the east coast doing gigs this weekend! The weather has not been in his favor several times this year. We are just glad he made it to his destination safely last night. He comes home on Monday.

    • Girls I’m thinking we should get our ark out of storage! It’s still raining like mad here but hopefully in the next day or two the rest of the rain will travel back out to sea and we’ll finally see some sun. We’re totally safe for now since the storm decided to NOT come ashore here!

    • Things look just as WET here with constant rain but at least the hurricane is NOT coming towards land now – it’s going East – YAY!!!!!!! We will have a lot of snow I think this year – the acorns are FLYING out of the trees already and it’s like a roller rink walking around the yard!

  13. I hope that hurricane misses you Sammy. We have had weird weather here also. Apart from some unusually hot weather back in May, we have had a very cold miserable summer. We are having a late summer for the last week or so. I think we will have a hard winter because the swallows have already left, and they don’t usually leave until mid October. Also dad has had to shut off parts of the fields to the horses because of a bumper crop of acorns.

    • Hi Flynn! Looks like the hurricane has headed EAST of us so we won’t get a “slam dunk” – but we sure are getting a lot of RAIN and breeziness. It could be worse though so we’re grateful. Weather has been weird worldwide – even your swallows have decided to leave early! We have a TON of acorns too – WAY more than ever before so look out for Winter!

  14. I hear the hurricane is heading back out to sea…lets hope Joaquin keeps going that way and misses you guys! I am hoping that we don’t have as dry a winter hear as there was last year. Another summer like the one just past will be horrible!

    • Yes we were happy that the hurricane took a right hand turn and headed out to sea instead of towards land. Lots of people we know on the shore were VERY nervous about the high tides……..still, we miss having a little bit of sun – rain day after day is not only WET but DEPRESSING! 😦
