Mom dragged the vacuum monster out of the closet THIS MORNING – Say what?  Huh?  A day early?  What’s THAT all about?   I had sudden visions of her and Dad deserting me and wanting to get the house cleaned before the desertion.  Sniff Sniff

WHAT?????????

WHAT?????????

But that wasn’t what was going on – I was soon to figure THAT out but not until AFTER the vacuum had done its’ duty and the dust had flown in all directions and my Thursday morning PEACE AND QUIET had been destroyed.

ONE DAY EARLY!!!!

ONE DAY EARLY!!!!

What was going on was that Mom was preparing to desert me – JUST MOM – and only for one night but that is like eternity to a cat who is Mom’s little boy!    Mom leaves first thing in the morning to go visit her sister and sister-in-law for something called “GIRLS GETAWAY”……….that’s right…….girls only – no husbands allowed meaning I’m stuck staying with Dad.

“Not so bad Sammy” I can hear you say…………..well, that depends on if you’re YOU or you’re ME……if you’re ME you’re thinking “what about my 3AM wake-up time?” and “what about my warm lap naps?” and “who will brush me and talk to me and spoil me in the style to which I’ve become accustomed for almost sixteen years?”……..because that is NOT my Dad – trust me.  He loves me and I love him but he’s not Mom (eeeeek!).

SO, I’m sucking it up – being brave (sorta) and today I’m spending following Mom around like we’re attached by a rope – because I’m going to get all the MOM VIBES I can today so they’ll carry me through until Saturday when she gets home.

Am I being a BIG WIENIE?  Oh of course I am…………..but then again you already KNOW me and you KNOW how I feel about my Mom.   Will I whine a lot until she comes home?   YOU BETCHA!

  2. Oh this is bad! I feel your pain, well I would if mum had left me for even one night! But she hasn’t, though I can imagine your pain, oh yes I can!! You’ll just have to be stoic, Sammy and maybe snuggle up to dad at 3 a.m.
    We hope mom has a brill get-away time with the girls! xoxoxox

  4. This is awful, S. First the sneak-attack of the vacuum and then DESERTION! I can’t imagine how your dad will hold down the Sammy Love Fort while your mom is away. Thank goodness it’s only for a day. Maybe you and your dad can drink beer and smoke cigars till she comes back…..

  5. Oh Sammy…I know how you feel. Mom’s nurture us and while dads may love us and feed us they are NOT mom. Be brave buddy it’s only for one day. I’m sure your dad misses her too.

  6. wha? a whole night? that’s a super long time, I so agree :o( butt you can have a boys night with your dad… with tons of food and tv and beer :o) we just had monster day today too… because the chimney guy promised to come this afternoon. me and dad are speechless… why she cleans the house for a guy who will make a horrible mess? girls…pfffffff :o)

    • You boys have a point about the cleaning when someone is coming to make a BIG MESS….BUTTTTT I am happy that the chimney will be fixed – winter is coming SOON and those nice fires in the fireplace are SWELL – you can curl up with a stuffie and devour it in comfort!

  8. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SAMMY TELL ME I’M HALLUCINATING AND THAT I DID NOT READ YOUR MOM WAS LEAVING YOU!! DID SHE REQUEST LEAVE 2 WEEKS AHEAD OF TIME? IF NOT, THEN SHE CANNNNNOT LEAVE.
    FOR SURE THERE IS NOTHING THAT COMPARES TO THE TLC WE GET FROM THE MOM’S…but I’m here to tell you my Dad gives the best head rubs.

    • Well Mom does this EVERY YEAR do I guess I kinda had notice – I just chose to IGNORE it. She’s only gone one night too – so I’ll forgive her (and it’s her birthday tomorrow!!!!)……she always goes to her Sister’s for that. I’ll live….just barely of course…..and I’ll YELL at her when she gets home on Saturday but Dad and I will be fine (sniff sniff).

  12. Poor Sammy, I feel bad for you. I hope your Dad knows how to make bacon. And maybe if you whine enough he will brush you and pretend to be Mom. I hope Mom has a great time, but I know she will miss you. XO

    • Dad will be doing the bacon thing for me on Saturday morning – he promised…..OR ELSE. He’s not good at brushing but I can wait on Mom for that……..bacon though WAITS FOR NO CAT (or MAN OR DOG).

      • Oy! We will put if off till after October 1. Tuesday CH woke up with a face swollen up like a big pumpkin. Trip to ER and oral surgeon… root canal gone bad. Can’t get in till October 1. He doesn’t feel bad but he doesn’t feel wonderful. Think we will go to St. Lou and have our most favorite Chinese food with his brother and our sis-in-law… 😀 Have you some great Birthday fun. Girl’s night… try to stay out of trouble. WooooEeeeeeeeeeeee!

  16. Sorry, Sammy. You can hang out at Cat Scouts or just nap a lot. We know how close you are to your mom and don’t want her out of your sight. Are there no flat Scouts visiting that you can play with? We send you lots of warm hugs to comfort you while she’s gone.     • Well sadly no flat scouts here at this time AND my flat is in the mail on his way to visit Maggie and Felix in Annapolis or I’d hang out with him! Sigh……..I’ll just have to hang in there for one night – Mom’s home Saturday!

  18. Aaaaw Sammy dat’s so sweet. Weez luv our mommy too. Fankfully mommy dusn’t get those “girls outings”. Come to fink of it ifin she did we wuld go wuldn’t we?. After all weez be girly’s too. MOL Weez sure yous daddy will take gweat care of ya’ till yous mommy weturns. And yous kuld always slip away and come stay wiff us. 🙂

  19. I know how you feel Sammy, but you are lucky that it is only one night. When my mum deserts me she takes my dad with her and they are usually gone for 2 weeks.

  20. At least it is only one night, Sammy. I almost never get left at home with my human’s boyfriend or a pet sitter… but I have to say, my human’s boyfriend rules! He is a lot more generous with the treats, and I don’t have to work for them.

    • I will be doing that or something similar believe me but I’ll have to be CAREFUL because Dad is still here! Last time the two of them were gone overnight…….this time there’s a spy here for Mom!
