End-o-Week In Sight

Standard

Yeppers – Friday approacheth!  This is our last chance before the last day of the week to get something constructive done so we can say “gosh this has been a busy week”.   Well, to be truthful it kinda has been.   Mom had a little “whoopsie” with the garage door and the car (we won’t talk about that though), I did a lot of STUFF in preparation for the weekend’s activities at Cat Scouts, Mom read TWO books, Dad went flying………….see?  Busy week.

Today I help Mom do laundry.   “Help” is purrrhaps not the right word……….I do more “observing/snoopervising” than actually helping.  I mean how can a small cat drag sheets down two flights of stairs to the laundry room?   Can’t be done by THIS cat…..so I’ll watch and snoop.

Laundry....they make it look FUN.....

Laundry….they make it look FUN…..

July is usually a very hot and steamy month here but just as most of you have reported, our weather here has been nothing short of WEIRD for weeks on end.   In the 60s one day, in the 90s the next……….driving rain or steamy humidity and sun……..but it is what it is………and we have A/C and a shady front porch and woods.  We can’t complain (well, I can complain but my parents can’t).

Today I can hear about 87 mowers mowing all around the community.   We’re getting good at recognizing who we can hear – different mowers make different sounds………”Oh, Pete’s got his zero radius out” or “Warren sure can zip that John Deere around his yard like a race car!”……………I think everyone is mowing because they know we’re supposed to have more rain coming.  That usually gets people fired up.   We’re gonna wait.   Mom mowed Sunday and it’s only Wednesday – by Friday we won’t be able to see out the windows because the grass will be that high.   Fine with me….you know I love to eat the stuff – I’m part goat.

GRASS

Hope you’re not TOO hot where you are – Europe is frying and the USA out West is just about doing the same……….maybe they should change the term to “GLOBAL FRYING” instead of “GLOBAL WARMING” ???

Have a Great Thursday no matter what!

Sammy

  1. We are having weird weather here too – can you believe it is HUMID here in southern California? Not as bad as you guys on the East Coast, but still enough to make my human’s hair look weird. MOL

  3. Our weather has been odd like yours, yesterday the humidity was awful, but today the air is much better. We always know when our elderly neighbor’s son is mowin because he constantly hits rocks and it makes a scraping sound- and probably ruins the blade. My Sammy will be seeing you at Scouts this weekend.

    • Today we’re overcast and I think it will stay that way and perhaps rain off and on……….Excited about the weekend’s activities at Scouts! I’m working on the Rumbler Patrol Float (something Denmaster tossed in at the last minute!)………have of course added YOU to the float – we’ll be wearing Uncle Sam hats and waving flags……….Mom apologizes (again) for not getting your surprise package out. She had a boo boo with the car and our garage door (EEEEK). Kinda puts a damper on running errands!

  4. What is it with the weather? We had bad storms last night and tornado warnings and that was after an inch and a quarter of rain in an hour yesterday morning. Three more inches last night. I can’t get out of the house to take pictures or sit under the Oaks. The skeeters! So Mom had a “whoopsie” with the car and garage door… I am sorry but that makes me giggle. Wondering who won… the car or the garage door. All’s good as long as your Mom is okay!

    • Hi Miss Pix! We haven’t had bad storms but today is totally overcast, humid and only 73 degrees….not a drop of rain though – yet. Rain’s coming though – I can feel it in my buns (oops I mean bones). Skeeters are AWFUL…my Dad gets bit all over the place but they ignore my Mom (Mom says she tastes bad). HAHAHAHAHAHA Who won the car/garage door contest? BOTH……they both came away with dents!

  5. It is so true! This weather and Mother Nature doesn’t know what she wants to do this year. Are we going to have rain every day of the Summer? It sure seems like it here. Every day – some time along the way – we get thunderstorms. The loud noise might make some of us anipals jump here at the Hotel Thompson… not saying which ones – shivers. And I agree with you about the different sounds of the lawn mowers. That’s a hoot. We can recognize them too. Hope you have a great day cousin! XOXO – Bacon

        • We’ve had an “ark in progress” here for the past coupla years…..we get periods of RAIN RAIN RAIN and Dad is furiously working on the ark, then the sun comes out and he lets the ark sit while he mows the lawn. What’s with that?

  6. oh that garage door saga sounds most interesting. When Mom was cleaning out her parents house in 2013…she parked in their 2 car garage…then when it was time to leave the door on the side she was parked in would not open. Thank goodness she had a small CR-V Honda. She had to go forward and back 87 million times until she was able to get the car on the other side of the garage so she could get out. MOL MOL no pictures but she did a re-enactment on our blog.

    • There probably won’t be any reenactment of the unfortunate meeting of the trunk and garage door. We’re pretending it didn’t happen…..at least we’ll be able to TRY to forget it after the garage door is fixed and the dent in the trunk is fixed. EEEEK!

    • One day – in a distant time zone after things have come back to NORMAL around here, Mom MIGHT (and I mean MIGHT) tell about the car/garage door encounter. No promises though. She’s trying to erase it from her mind! Today is cloudy skies and only 73 which to us is COOL………….!

  8. WE are having out usual LOTS of hard rain. Humid to the end and oh so soupy. Mommy has to keep her hair dry or it will frizzles she says. Me, I just groom. What’s HER problem? Moms!

    Like

    • Katie, we are a whole lot easier when it comes to grooming than humans are don’t you think? I watch Mom making faces in the mirror while she puts on makeup, puts gunk in her hair before she dries it – uses her curling iron then fixing her hair and spraying it with gunk again……….WHAT A PAIN! We just lick and comb with our teefies and VOILA – we look FABULOUS!

  9. It is a bit on the “misty” side here, not really rain, but not really dry. Mom did the laundry stuff yesterday and today was the 1st floor vacuuming. Tomorrow will be the rest of the hoovering and then hopefully lots of bbq fun for the weekend. Have a wonderful Fourth!!!

  10. Oops! The garage/car incident doesn’t sound good. It has cooled down here to only 93 today from 102 yesterday. It’s a little humid for us but nothing like you have, mom says.

  11. Sammy, Mom meant to write back to Mom Pam to tell her that she did that same garage thing,,,twice. Once when she was about 20 year’s old in her dad’s huge Dodge and once just a couple years ago, though she had a bit of a spin on it. She left the back door of the car (her stepmom’s) open and tried to back out of the garage! Raining here now at 75 degrees. We are supposed to get 1 1/2 inches by tomorrow night! Don’t work too hard today, Sammy. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  13. I help with the laundry the same way you do Sammy.. Mums need to be snoopervised. It has been stupid hot here. We don’t usually get hot here, and if it reaches 70 we think we have a heatwave. Living on a peninsula keeps us cool, so how have we got into the 90s???

    Like

    • WOW……90s is pretty darn hot. We routinely get 90s here in the summer but you know, the weather is just plain WEIRD everywhere in the world this year. Stay cool my buddy!

Kali is barfing and generally feels sick….I’m hiding out in cool bushes near the “messy…never cuts his lawn” guy. Mom is looking after the house and doing running around early in the day. We usual yget weather in the 80’s for 4 days and then back to normal.
