You got HERBS?

SPRINGBANNER2

Hi All!    Well  the old Momster went out yesterday to the nursery and returned with plants…..you know I’ve been DYING to have my front porch decorated and Mom promised me she would right?  I wanted lots of flowers in pots………not too much to ask yes?   Well, when she got home she had a dwarf butterfly bush for the yard, a bazillion petunias, some kind of other very colorful little flowers for a pot on the deck,   some  perennial salvia, more sweet potato vines   and a bunch of HERBS.   She made an herb garden……if it’s like the last one she planted, it will get some use.   She does like to use fresh herbs in her cooking.   She got spearmint,   basil, oregano, rosemary, orange mint (that was a type of mint she’d never heard of before), and    one other herb that I can’t remember the name of.   So all of that is planted.

Swell huh?   But still NO PLANTS FOR MY PORCH………………………Mom says MAYBE she’ll go out tomorrow and look again.  She claims she can’t find anything she likes for the porch.  Acres of flowers in bloom right now but Mom can’t find something she likes.   I’m starting to think maybe I should use my red wagon and hike up to the nursery MYSELF!!!!

Yep - remember this photo? It's fast becoming a reality!!!

Yep – remember this photo? It’s fast becoming a reality!!!

Today will be  bed-changing day……….at least I can  enjoy that while it lasts………. but it’s still not the same as lying on the front porch smelling the flowers…………..I suppose I could  just ENJOY what’s out there?   The azaleas are blooming nicely this year so there’s that……….and the pink dogwood trees are in full bloom…………so there’s that……….and Mom’s pink potted geraniums are blooming but they don’t smell all that great.   I think I’m working myself up for a good old POUT, don’t you?

SADKITTY

I don’t suppose I could  manage to turn this pout into an excuse to ask for extra bacon ????   That might take the edge off the pain of having to wait yet again for my porch to be decorated!

Hugs, Pouting Sam

  1. You’re not crazy, S. We’re ALL dying for flowers. It seemed like an awfully, AWFULLY long wait for winter to go away. I think your mom will get it right next time she goes flower shopping. Meanwhile, taste the herbs….

  5. Oh, we were so looking forward to seeing your pretty porch with flowers! More bacon for all of us! We think you just might need to take this into your own paws, Sammy.
We do love an herb garden though…those are the best. We won’t be able to put ours in for a while yet, but we do have some perennial sage and thyme that should be greening up pretty soon.

  6. I hope you’ll get your flowers and … more bacon! 😉 As to a herb gareden: we’d like to have fresh herns for cooking, but here the deer eat all our herbs, except for the Rosemary.

    • Mom’s hoping the fact she planted the herbs right up against the house may keep the deer from eating them……they don’t come close to the house thank heavens!

  7. We have a large rosemary plant. We got a small one 12 years ago at the Home Dumpo, stuck it in the ground and it’s taken off big time. We love the purple flowers. When rosemary is required, it still comes from the top, even though Kenzie the Westie passed 2½ years ago. He was the last male dog here and loved to do leg lifts on the rosemary.

    • Maybe those leg lifts worked like fertilizer on that rosemary???? Home Dumpo has nice plants here but they’re usually pretty pricey. Mom’s little rosemary plant is TRULY little as are all the herbs she bought…..maybe by end of summer you’ll be able to see them out there without the aid of a magnifying glass……..har har har

  8. What a bunch of beautiful flowers! Mom gets the same idea as your mom and keeps looking. Mom has to get all those herbs yet. It’s still freezing here and mom heard the other side of town has snow today so we have to wait longer.

  10. Our MOm was hoping to get some flowers today, but she thinks she may have a broken toe:( Anyway she hopes to get some this weekend. She really wants to try some petunias, but she has never had much luck with them here in Kansas. Maybe we need you to go shopping with her and take your little red wagon.

    • Oh I’m sorry your Mom hurt her toe! My Mom has had broken toes before – banging into furniture mostly! Petunias are pretty and my Mom likes the “WAVE” variety because they bloom their little hearts out ALL YEAR LONG!
