Fixin’ My Front Porch

Standard

SPRINGBANNER2

You all know that I ADORE my front porch……..well, in the Spring it’s just about the best spot to be.  Why?   Everything is growing QUICKLY right now – so the sound (and smell) of  grass being mowed and  string trimmers humming and leaf blowers blowing is EVERYWHERE.   The sun shines on my front porch in the morning and that’s where you’ll find me sniffing my way through the morning  in the Spring.

FrontPorchRockers1

Everything in my yard is going nuts right now………….the stuff in the front stone garden is growing by leaps and bounds and the azaleas are just about to pop…..the Bradford pears have flowered and thanks to some  high-ish winds the last day or two we had a snowstorm of blossoms in our front yard which really looked pretty…………..am I “waxing poetic” about Spring?  Yep….you betcha.

My favorite pink dogwood blooming!

My favorite pink dogwood blooming!

The only thing I wish Mom would get done that she hasn’t done yet is buy some pots of flowers for my front porch.  I love sniffing them, I especially love when hummingbirds come up for a visit and we haven’t seen any of them yet.   C’mon Mom!   You love to hangout at the nursery and  the other stores that sell plants so let’s  GET IT ON!

Potted plants on Sam's front porch.

Like this Mom….color – flowers – pots of stuff!

I wonder if the nursery would be surprised to see a little ginger cat pulling his Flexi-Flyer wagon wandering through the aisles shopping for plants……because if Mom doesn’t  get going soon I may just have to take a five mile hike with my wagon to find out !!!!!

  1. Go, Sammy, go, but don’t forget the credit card of your mom! But despite the incompletion you mentioned, your back porch is just beautiful! It is really a kind gesture from your mom and dad that they offer two armchairs for you to choose from them!

  8. Hi Sammy,
You certainly have a wonderful front porch and garden! I envy you. 😉
    Enjoy,
    Pit
P.S.: Your feline friends here like to explore our garden, too. Except for Fritz. He doesn’t like being outside so much. And sometimes the kitties even want to have the aerial perspective and get up on the roof [http://tinyurl.com/qcfwj77].

  9. Definitely go, Sammy. But watch out for traffic, it’s dangerous! And I agree with those above about making sure you have your mom’s credit card with you [would be terrible to go all that way only to have to turn around] and picking up some catnip plants while you’re there. You may as well get a little something special for yourself! Good luck and be safe!!!

  10. Oh cousin. Times like this call for an emergency plan. NOT that I would do this personally – looks innocently around – but at times perhaps you should get mom’s credit card and hit the computer sites to see if they make home deliveries for your plants. Snorts. Nah – this little oinker would *never* borrow dad’s credit card like that…. oohh squeals – look at that toy on line. I gotta get it.. snorts. XOXO – Bacon

Sammy I hear ya… guess what? they had no flowers in our stores today…nothing what we can plant in our empty pots… probably the garden stores are still in hibernation, huh? my mom wants hanging geraniums in white and red this year… and they had not one …I’m not sure if she is too late or just the first of the early birds, but this year plants are rare here…

  14. Your porch looks like a great place to sit in the sun. My mum says she could just see herself sitting there sipping on a nice cold drink. She hasn’t got her flowers for the pots yet either. She needs to get on with the weeding first.

  20. You have a wonderful yard, I loved all the flowering trees, I can imagine all the pretty blooms flying around in the wind…Magic! It’s quite amazing your hummers will fly down to the pots on the porch too. They must know Sammykins is a gentle soul. I can’t wait to go to the garden center too. We had snow in Alberta two nights ago. No in the City but 20 minutes south in the burbs! Dodged a bullet on that one. It melts fast though. Today it’s to be 26 C or 79 F….wahooo! xoxoxo Hug you all tight k

We want WARM…..Mom wants to buy more flowers and some of the tender stuff is just TOO tender for the weather. Guess I have to be patient – which is NOT my best quality! HAHAHAHAHA
