Amazing Talent

Standard

Oh no – I’m NOT talking about me – my only talent is sleeping (hahaha)………..and as you know my Mom “hung up her spurs (so to speak)” a long time ago and doesn’t write books any more and doesn’t paint any more…………I’m talking about our new friend who we learned about from some of you!

Thomas Dalsgaard Clausen has a super “mission” – he does at least one drawing every single day.   Now that’s commitment!    And he’s really good……….many of his drawings are pencil or just ballpoint pen but some are watercolors and whatever media he chooses, he does a wonderful job.   We have seen some of his work on your blogs and my Mom wrote him a note just to tell him how amazing she thought his work is and they wrote back and forth a bit – he offered to do a drawing of ME and Mom said that would be grand.   We received it yesterday and my Mom is over the moon……………he drew it from a photo he’d seen on my blog.   What do you think?

This is the blog post he did about his drawing of me………………CLICK HERE FOR THOMAS’ BLOG and I hope that you will visit his blog and see his amazing work.   Thank you Mr. Thomas – Mom will treasure this always and forever.

Do you recognize the photo he did the drawing from?   It’s this one!

SAMSELFIE3

So today is laundry day at my house………sheets get changed and I’ll be helping Mom (by staying out of the way!).   It’s the least I can do.

Also, Miss Michelle will be posting another little mini-video of ME on My Three Moggies so be sure and check out the latest – this one I believe features me actually walking (instead of sleeping) in my basement hidey spot.   She’s trying to talk me into coming UPSTAIRS……HA!   I might have a major crush on her but I will probably stay in my basement since it’s my bachelor pad!

I’ll be having some actual Spring shots of my front yard soon – things are about to pop…..Bradford pears are just a day or two away from GORGEOUS and my azaleas (the ones the deer didn’t eat) might be blooming next week…………so much to do now that the weather has decided to be at least BETTER.      YAY!!!!!

Happy Spring Day to you!

Hugs, Sammy

    • We love it……….do you keep all the originals? Mom just loves everything about this drawing of me – we’ll print it out and get it framed but the original would be WAY cool to have too!!!

Hugs and thank you from the bottom of my furry heart………..Sammy

        • Oh I wouldn’t want you to cut into your sketchbook – I never did that myself when I was drawing either! Dezi’s drawing was one of the first of your work that we’d seen – we follow Dezi’s blog…..and I know she loved hers too. You’re so very kind to offer to do another one but would not want you to go to all that trouble. I do intend to print this one off onto photo paper and frame it. Sammy’s very photogenic (at least I think so!) and I think there’s just no such thing as TOO many mementos of a “member of the family” !! Thanks so much Thomas……….

          • You’re welcome. I hope that the quality of the file is okay for you.. if it doesn’t look good on paper, let me know and I’ll try to take a photo of the drawing instead.. I have a quite old scanner, so the resolution isn’t that high!

          • Thanks Thomas…….I think it’s a pretty high resolution file so should print to paper well…..but if it doesn’t I may take you up on your offer to photograph it! You’re so kind….I mean that!! One of these days I may contact you again and ask you to do another drawing of my boy. Before he lost weight due to his diagnosis of hyperthyroidism he used to be chubbier (!) and one of those photos might make a fun drawing too. I’m curious – what is your FAVORITE thing to draw…..? As I told you, my favorites were landscapes and houses.

          • Thanks! I’d love to draw one of your boy! But i think that portraits of people are among the hardest things to get right.. I think it’s because the brain is wired to recognize faces, and when the slightest thing is off, it stands out – unlike so many other types of drawing.. That being said, I think that portraits is one of my favorites! I have done a ton of them. Sometimes they turn out good.. Other times not so much 😉 I also like urban landscapes.. Perspectives in cities and so on, but they take another effort and concentration than say animals and people.. I guess that i enjoy “organic” things without perspective the most.. Animals, objects, faces.. Do let me know if you need the photo of the drawing 🙂

          • Thanks again Thomas…..I agree with you about doing portraits of people. I can’t do them…never have been able to capture people on paper. As for “my boy” I guess I should have said “my Sam” as he’s the only boy I have (other than my husband of course!!!!)………Sam has so many different looks and his “sleepy” look is the most familiar to his fans of course but I like his “alert/I love you Mom” face best. Pet owners will tell you that they can SEE love in the eyes of their pets – and Sam is very good at that LOOK. Anyway, I’ll let you know if I get a good image from the printout of your drawing….thanks again or the offer!

    • HAHAHA…..the basement here is more like a big old garage – lawn equipment, boxes, old trunks – everything you can imagine! Mom and Dad decided when they built the house not to “finish” the basement since they hardly needed more living space so it turned into an “underground garage for STUFF”……and it also became my mancave when I joined the family!!!!!

  2. That is terrific artwork, Sammy. I think that is one of your more active sleeping poses MOL.

I saw the tour you did in your basement mancatcave, buddy! I detected a raised tail and I definitely think you were either trying to show her the way out or to your nip stash!!

    • My nip stash is totally private and even my Mom and Dad don’t know where that is BUT I was willing to “show Miss Michelle around” down there…….a guy likes to show off his mancave!

  5. I love the drawing of you! So nice it would be to have a talent like that. I visited Thomas’ blog yesterday and mentioned how much I liked the drawing he did of you. Also, wanted to say how brave you are to let your folks’ company hold you for photos. I don’t think I would do that. You are my hero.

Our Bradford pears bloomed right before Easter. This week’s rain and wind has brought them to an early end. In fact, our front driveway actually looks like it snowed:)
