Teaser Tell All

My Friends we have a FIRST on my Tuesday Teaser………that’s right – for the first time EVER, WordPress recorded THREE SIMULTANEOUS “First Commenters” yesterday when the Teaser went live.   That’s right THREE…………all of them came in at 8:05AM EST.   But before I tell you the lucky three AND who was the “First Right Guesser”, here’s the Teaser from yesterday once more!

Pretty building isn’t it?   Well, first of all let me thank my Guest Teaser who provided the photos – Dianna from “These Days of Mine” blog (my girlcatfriend Sundae’s Mom!!).   THANK YOU MISS DIANNA!   You get this little badge, THEN I will tell everyone where the photos were taken and something about them!

Cool huh?    Some of you were convinced that the photos were taken during a recent visit by our company from “across the pond” but they weren’t!   GOTCHA!   Here’s some info about Bacon’s Castle……….

“The photos are of a beautiful spot in Surry County, Virginia called “Bacon’s Castle”.   Built in 1665, it’s the oldest brick dwelling in the United States and has the oldest English formal garden in North America.    Bacon’s Castle was originally home to a prosperous planter, Arthur Allen, and his family. Following Allen’s death, the house was inherited by his son, Major Arthur Allen II. A loyalist supporter of the colonial government and member of the House of Burgesses, Major Allen was driven from his house in 1676 by followers of the patriot rebel Nathaniel Bacon, whose uprising later came to be known as Bacon’s Rebellion. The episode later gave Bacon’s Castle its name though the house remained in the Allen family until 1844.  The house has been owned by Preservation Virginia since 1973, when the last private owner died.   The other fun thing about Bacon’s Castle is that Miss Dianna’s ancestors occupied the house as caretakers at one point so she’s VERY familiar with the house and grounds and used to conduct tours of the structure which is still a popular tourist location in Southern Virginia.   Miss Dianna and her husband had their wedding there in fact – you will see Bacon’s Castle in the background in their wedding photo!”   (photo courtesy of Dianna Keen)

Now, who was the “First Right Guesser” yesterday?   My good friend Flynn – that’s who!   Flynn was hot on the trail of the photos and figured it out first so Flynn my buddy, this is yours!

But Flynn wasn’t the only right guesser yesterday – either some of you hopped on Flynn’s bandwagon (haha) or guessed on your own, but those of you who guessed Bacon’s Castle in Virginia get this!

Were you one of the CLUELESS?  One of those left out in the cold with the Teaser photos and guessed wrong or had no idea?  You still get something for your time and effort lucky you!

Now wasn’t that just plain FUN?   I hope you do enjoy Tuesday Teasers………..I’ve noticed that I have fewer visitors on Tuesdays than we used to have and I’m sure part of that is because of the time differences, but also maybe because it’s not as much fun if you aren’t winning………..I’m sorry about that but I enjoy finding photos (or receiving them from YOU!) that we can all have some fun figuring out once a week and maybe learn a little something at the same time.   I’ll keep doing Teasers as long as there are Teaser fans…………..I promise!
