Dusting?

Standard

Hi Friends!   Remember I said we got a “dusting” of snow?????   Well today we’re going to have a dusting of dust.   That’s right – because it’s Friday and you know what that means around my house……………cleaning day.   As for that pesky snow I complained about – it’s GONE – we had a heat wave all the way up to 49 yesterday so NO SNOW now – just mud everywhere.   Not sure which is worse……Mom won’t let me play in the mud!!!

I had a bunch of people ask to see more of my town after I showed those snow photos on my bloggy yesterday………….here are a few more views of Small Town USA!   (hover over pix for info)

The town was originally a settlement at the time of the Revolution so there’s a whole lot of history here…………that Court House (and the adjacent old jail) were originally constructed in 1790.   The cemetery in town has a lot of “recognizable” names from the Civil War too AND General Mosby (The Gray Ghost – Mosby’s Raiders) owned a home in town which is now a museum.

ANYWHO what’s that got to do with today being cleaning day?  NOTHING……just thought you  might find it interesting.   My Mom and Dad love living here – and it’s the only place I’ve ever lived so I naturally love it too!  Anywhere THEY are is fine by me.

I’m also getting bacon for breakfast this morning – NO it’s not Saturday – it’s just a special treat………..but not for ME – it’s for my Dad who wanted pancakes and bacon for breakfast…..the fact I get bacon out of the deal is a BONUS!!!!   WOO HOO!!!!

Happy Friday

Hugs, Sammy

    • Dusting is a whole lot better than the sucky machine – you’re right – however I’ll bet you that the machine makes an appearance – Mom says that she’ll be “dusting” but sometimes she fools me and drags THAT THING out of the closet anyway!

Now Sammy, does this bacon-on-a-Friday deal mean that bacon-on-a-Saturday is not going to happen? I should make sure the Saturday bacon contract is signed and sealed if I were you!! It could put your whole weekend out 😀 x0x

    • Hi Sundae!! We do love our little town (not that I’ve ever seen it but Mom and Dad like it!). I’ll be in the basement during the cleaning adventure but I always take a good sniff around upstairs after it’s over – Mom tends to move my STUFF around when she cleans!

    • The Monster came and went while I was quietly sawing logs (OK so I was snoring not sawing!) in the basement. Done deal by the time I came upstairs…..Mom had REARRANGED my “stuff” though…..my fleece blankie I like in a certain spot on the floor and my favorite toys. She keeps trying to make it NEAT!

Mom usually spends DAYS doing vacation laundry too – how two peeps can make such a mess is beyond me! Makes being nekkid more attractive indeed!

    • It’s a way cool old jail and it’s haunted……it’s also a bit scary (Mom says). Mosby’s house is at one end of our little town and is a museum now. Since you are the gray ghost, you should definitely see the “other” gray ghost’s home!!!

        • The townspeople here LOVE Mosby…..there are monuments all over the place and he’s actually buried here in the town cemetery. Also, every year they have a big Civil War costume ball and “The Black Horse Cavalry” with General Mosby ride up to the building in uniform on their horses where the costume dinner is being held just like they did “back then” as part of the evening’s entertainment. Cool huh??

  5. You live in the cutest town ever. Love all the history out east. I sure wish I had time to swing by in the spring but I think we may be in Alexandria and even near Virginia beach one day. Is that anywhere near you? I arrive in Washington Mar 30th. Just a thought xo K Hug-a-roni’s

    • You will LOVE LOVE LOVE Alexandria….Old Town is really tons of fun – fab stores and restaurants – make sure you visit! Never been to Virginia Beach – that’s way south of us……When we lived in Springfield (closer to DC) we would spend every Christmas in Old Town Alexandria….but we haven’t been back since we moved out here. I will send you a big virtual hug even if I don’t get to give you one in person!

    • Wouldn’t THAT be fun!!!!! They’re building a new community just down the street from us……….AND there’s one house for sale in our community! Actually there’s a lot of houses for sale here – just try Realtor.com and type in Warrenton, Virginia and see what you can see!!!!! We’d be a force to be reckoned with in Warrenton wouldn’t we??

  7. What a charming town! Our Midway is not so picturesque. But then it was a rowdy mining town back in the late 1800s.
No dusting at our house today…Mommy is sick and moaning on the sofa.
Excuse mes, Me must now goes and throws litter all over the little warm room floor!

    • Moving from the big city out here was the best thing they could have done (so says my Mom). It’s grown a lot since my parents moved out here though (18 years ago) but still, the Main Street is the same size and “downtown” hasn’t changed a bit!

    • WOW…….3-6 inches is a pretty good pile of snow. Hope that’s ALL you got – weather peeps are notoriously WRONG. Our town hasn’t changed in 18 years….although they did put new old-timey street lamps up and re-bricked the sidewalks…..we hope it stays just the way it is!

      Hugs and Happy Weekend!

    • Yes, we think there are a lot of interesting things just here in our little town – then when you start exploring this area you find more and more spots where interesting things took place in time. The Midwest has a lot of stories to tell too with the settlers heading west to find their fortunes and get their land……it’s fun to explore and sometimes you find a lot worth seeing right in your own home town!
