Back Again……….

Standard

Mr. Weather Dude said Tuesday night that Wednesday would be cold but there might be a “dusting” of snow to the north and west…………uhhuh………..yeah……….OK……….I can work with that!   Right?   Wrong!    If that was a dusting we got today – even though it was only an inch or so – I’ll be a monkey’s uncle (and that would be interesting since I’m a CAT!!!!).

WARRENTON WARRENTON2

Just a bit of snow early on – didn’t stick to the roads in our town – and out here it looked like this:

Not much on the Leyland cypress at the top of the driveway......

Not much on the Leyland cypress at the top of the driveway……BIG flakes though!

Seriously………….why not say “there’s a chance of snow throughout the Washington, DC region tomorrow”………..then we’re prepared…………we sorta know that we very well could have snow.  Plans could be made accordingly.  BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good thing my Mom and Dad are retired and didn’t HAVE to go somewhere because the “dusting” we got turned out to be VERY slick……….Thank heavens for 4-wheel drive because my Dad – believing that there would be if ANY snow, a “dusting” left the house to run a lot of errands……..he was inside a store shopping for an hour and came out to a snowstorm of sorts…….BIG FAT JUICY FLAKES – no dust in sight.  HAHAHA     He got home alright of course and made it up our uphill driveway thanks to the Blazer……..

So you know how I complain all the time about the weather?  (If you don’t know that you should because I’m either griping about the rain or the snow or the temperature!)   I’m registering a complaint about the weather this time for sure.

Maybe I’m just getting really crotchety in my old age……….maybe I should just be glad I’m here PERIOD regardless of what’s going on with the weather.   After all, Mom and I were snug inside the house – I had access to her lap when she wasn’t on the computer – so why should I complain?

MAYBE just because I CAN complain………….age has its’ privileges after all!!!

  2. That reminds Motor Mommy of the old joke: a man calls the tv station and speaks with the meterologist and says: “I just thought you’d like to know that I just shoveled 8 inches of ‘partly cloudy’ off my steps!”.
And there’s your laugh for the morning, Sammy.
Glad you’re in and warm and safe and cozy – me too!

    • Warrenton is a small town that’s stayed small…..surrounding areas are growing but Main Street looks much the same as it did a very long time ago. Weather forecasters are SNEAKY – I’m starting not to believe a word that comes out of their mouths!!! HAHA

  5. Sammy, you can complain if you want just because you are so darn cute. Please send us a little of that snow, my hubby wants to burn his brush pile, but he would like snow on the rofff just in case any ashes go that way.

  6. My humans are retired too. I am not sure if that is good or bad, but they do tell the man who snove
Ls for them that whenever he gets around. To doing it, it will be fine with them.

    • That’s a good sign that retirement is “working” for them – when you don’t care if someone shovels right away or “whenever” they are enjoying their retirement!!! HAHAHA

  7. Sammy, we keep getting “dustings” here, too. The problem is that Mom has to shovel those dustings off the deck so we can go outside and smell some fresh air. We’re so tired of all that white stuff! Mom says we should know by now that when the white stuff comes it stays for a really, really long time. Well, we still don’t like it! Hang in there, Sammy!

  8. Oh, I think complaining about the weather is just one of our favorite hobbies here in the Northeast! It gives us something to do while we’re stuck inside because of crappy weather!
Sometimes I think the weatherman really need to find better terms for the amount of snow or rain they say we’re going to get. How many times have they said “rain showers” when it ended up pouring rain, non-stop, all day long? Showers are supposed to be off and on, but they don’t seem to know that any better than the difference between a dusting of now and an inch or more!
Glad your Dad was safe when running his errands…we wouldn’t dream of being without our 4 wheel drive.

          • I know it’s tough to keep an eye on our humans – they seem to think they have the right to do whatever they please !! What’s with that?! Well, I’ve been training my parents for 15 years and they STILL do what they want when they want to and I guess that’s OK because that’s pretty much what I do too! HAHAHAHA Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend with Ladymum.

  10. The weather guessers are just as bad here, they never get it right. I am glad we don’t often get snow down here on the coast. I don’t like all the ice though because my feet never go where they should.
Your rather more than a dusting does look pretty though, and even better if you don’t have to go out in it.

  13. Such a cute city street in that picture. Looks right out of “Christmas Vacation” with Chevy Chase. I can’t believe you got snow and we had warm temps this week. Yesterday it was 10 C or 52 F…Crazy for us for January. I was out in flip flops on my front porch removing Christmas decor. I’m sure there’s more winter up ol’ mother natures sleeve, but we’re getting spoilt this week. Glad dad has that Blazer so mom doesn’t worry when he goes out. xo K
