Teaser Tell All

Standard

I guess you’re a little upset with me about yesterday’s TOUGH TEASER huh?   Well, I wanted to challenge you for the first one in the new year and it would seem that I did.  I did love watching all the comments coming in though – lots of you really worked hard on this photo – examining every possible clue and angle and looking at all the details.  Here’s the photo again:

TEASERJAN6

A very beautiful light fixture don’t you think?   Let me say that when I saw this photo from my Guest Teaser I thought long and hard about using it instead of my usual landscapes/monuments/parks/landmarks kind of pictures.   But I think a lot of people notice details on things – architectural details for instance.   And if any of you have been to Hampton Court Palace you just might have looked up at one of these fixtures and admired the scrollwork and beautiful old brick and the way the light dances off the walls and ceiling!!!!!    Here’s some info on Hampton Court Palace for your reading pleasure (from Wikipedia).

Hampton Court Palace is a royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, Greater London, in the historic county of Middlesex, and within the postal town East Molesey, Surrey; it has not been inhabited by the British Royal Family since the 18th century. The palace is 11.7 miles (18.8 kilometres) south west of Charing Cross and upstream of central London on the River Thames. It was originally built for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, a favourite of King Henry VIII, circa 1514; in 1529, as Wolsey fell from favour, the palace was passed to the King, who enlarged it.

The following century, King William III‘s massive rebuilding and expansion project intended to rival Versailles was begun.[1] Work halted in 1694, leaving the palace in two distinct contrasting architectural styles, domestic Tudor and Baroque. While the palace’s styles are an accident of fate, a unity exists due to the use of pink bricks and a symmetrical, if vague, balancing of successive low wings.[2]

Along with St. James’s Palace, it is one of only two surviving palaces out of the many owned by King Henry VIII.

Today, the palace is open to the public, and is a major tourist attraction, easily reached by train from Waterloo Station in central London and served by Hampton Court railway station in East Molesey, in Transport for London‘s Zone 6. The palace is cared for by an independent charity, Historic Royal Palaces, which receives no funding from the Government or the Crown.[3]

When I googled Hampton Court Palace I was exploring some of the website I visited when I saw a “Ghost Tour” link and saw this photo………………..maybe this is where that light fixture is located?  Sure looks familiar don’t you think?????

    • Hi Flynn! I kind of have the impression that unless you’ve wandered EVERYWHERE at the Palace you might not have seen the corridors where the light fixtures are! Pretty fun Teaser even though it was TOUGH AS NAILS!

  4. I just knew Isobel was going to lend a picture for the Teaser, I could feel it in my bones. I just didn’t know WHEN she was going to be a guest teaser. I believe there were quite a few people that thought it was London. It’s very cold here too and we have had a tux and a black cat hanging around. Haven’t seen them for about 4 days. I always worry about the animals and even the birds in this weather. It’s so windy too. Plenty of bird houses on The Tiny Ten and they are being used to roost.. lots of shrubs and big scrub cedars to take refuge from the wind.

    • Hi Pix! Yes and I have some MORE from Isobel so keep an eye out for some more really good stumpers this year! Yes we had a lot of London guessers but nothing specific enough to win the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER for 2015. It remains unclaimed but let’s hope next Tuesday someone gets it! At least I handed out a lot of GREENIES! We have terrible wind here too……..I’m glad Mom has the heated cat house on the front porch AND we made another shelter out there out of a big plastic tub she bought and cut a hole in and put a cat bed inside…..we want to help if we can…………

    • Well Easy you have to remember that your humans have been SICK……they aren’t at the “top of their game” so she couldn’t help it. As for the Queen not inviting you for tea – what’s with that????? I should think you’d be on some “A-LIST” somewhere at the Palace…..I’ve heard once she goes to bed at night the Palace is a “happening place” !

  7. You are the Teaser Master! As I said before I will never ever get these right. I looked at the photo and even thought of Ben Franklin and Philadelphia. Oh man I didn’t even have the right country. 🙂

  10. We didn’t make it over here yesterday. So sorry. Mom is still playing catch-up. We wouldn’t have known and would have guessed Williamsburg. Yet another place for Mom to add to her places to visit. Good job at stumping efurryone, Sammy. It snowed here this morning and is 9 degrees right now with a wind chill of -12 degrees. Hope you are staying in and staying warm. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    • I went out briefly yesterday but only BRIEFLY…….it’s ridiculously cold isn’t it? This morning it’s eight degrees here without wind chill factored in. YEEKS! Needless to say I didn’t go outside although I did insist Mom open the door so I could sniff the cold air!
