Aching for Bacon

Standard

HAHAHAHA…..cute subject huh?   As always I’m knee-deep in breakfast bacon fantasies because it’s Saturday.   Mom’s making some bacon/egg/cheese biscuits this morning and the biscuits are smelling great, the bacon is smelling even better, and I’m salivating all over the floor waiting for her to finish!

baconsign

After she makes breakfast she’s going to be doing some baking – biscotti !   Now you might think I would turn up my nose at some kind of silly thing like biscotti but you’d be wrong.  I actually like how crunchy it is, and Mom will give me a tiny corner of a piece to gnaw on – good for my teefies you know!    She’s going to be putting mixed dried fruits in the biscotti but I don’t like that so it will be a corner of a PLAIN biscotti that she will make JUST FOR ME!   How lucky am I?  Would this be yet another indication that I’m “one spoiled cat” ???   Yeah….probably so.

BISCOTTI

We had a lot of noise around here yesterday – the neighbors got a puppy a few months ago and he’s growing like a little weed.  He’s a schnauzer which looks like this (but this isn’t him):

SCHNAUZER

They had an invisible fence installed so Fritzy the pup can wander wherever he wants to on HIS property but won’t come onto ours or the neighbor on the other side……….at least that’s the theory.   Other people we know who have the invisible fence say it works so we’ll see.   This dog will have the WHOLE yard including down into the woods to explore so the space they gave him is huge.  That means he can play with the boys and their friends in the woods and anywhere else in the yard.  Seems like a good idea if you have a dog and don’t want to put up an ACTUAL fence to keep him in.

I don’t need a fence!   No sireeee…………I’m not wandering off from this good deal I have here in my house – no way baby!

Hope you have a fabulous Saturday!!!

  2. Fence, schmence – the humans are finishing up a huge, ginormous wall here! Actually it’s a retaining wall, and it’s needed to keep the neighbor’s land from falling into ours. On the other side, we still have a fence, because the dog here will wander if left to her own devices.

    • Hi Summer! I remember seeing photos out your window of that wall being “re-constructed” and I’m glad they’re finally finishing it up. I remember Sparkle saying it was VERY NOISY work……I enjoy watching humans work out in the yard too but if noise is involved – NOT SO MUCH!

    • Yeah I know what you mean……biscotti first got my attention because it was taking Mom FOREVER to make it……anything that keeps her from paying attention to ME, gets MY attention in return! HAHA As for the invisible fence thing…..to tell you the truth, I’m not sure I’d like it much if I was a pup!!

  3. Wow, busy Saturday at your house, Sammy! Enjoy your bacon and biscotti! And I’m hoping that fence keeps Fritzy in his yard….I’m with you: why in the world would we want to venture out of our sweet homes??

    • Hi Easy! I hope the invisible fence works too – – – I’ll never forget having to climb a tree my one and only time to escape a rather enthusiastic dog visitor into my yard. I’m not sure if he wanted to MEET me or EAT me!!!! As for yogurt you know I’m a BIG FAN lately of that stuff even though Mom THINKS she’s hiding my pill in it…..I let her believe I don’t know it’s there but I do eat it!

      • I hope you haven’t to climb on a tree again, that would be super bad. butt as long as the pup is a small one… aaah naah wait you said he grows like weed, right? that’s a problem, butt normally that fences work :o)

        • Yes we’re sure it will work and he’s actually a really good little guy – well trained already……they say “stop” and he does….they say “sit” and he does…….now I hope we don’t have to check and see what he does when they say “don’t eat the kitty” !!! HAHAHAHAHA

  6. It sounds like you have a yummy Saturday planned!! Mom knows lots of folks with invisible fences and they’re all pleased. What it won’t do is keep other dogs out so you still have to make sure you’re aware of what’s going on in the yard.

    • At least I don’t get to go out unsnoopervised – one of my parents is always “at the ready”…….With the leash law around here, the other dogs I see are on leash always but occasionally a “wanderer” comes through. What those fences don’t do is keep out the bears, the squirrels, the skunks, the woodchucks, the deer, the snakes (haha) and other critters!

  7. Sammy…you are definitely the king of bacon. The biscuits sound heavenly and so does the biscotti. Mom has always wanted to try to make that. It is another rainy day here…AGAIN! 8. Hope the fence works! We are tired of all the barking dogs around us. Country dogs run free because people who live in the country think that is what dogs and cats should do. Ugh. Dogs that wandered on our property when Country Cat was alive were met with an unfriendly welcome. Just a warning to go home. I feel bad for dogs that wander, not their fault but the total disregard of their owners. Love both cats and dogs but hate to see their lives threatened with speeding cars and other dangers.

How was the stroganoff? Bacon mornings are better in the Fall.. 😀

    • We’re hoping the fence works too….we love all animals here too but constant barking – NOT SO MUCH. Fortunately there are no “free” dogs here – most people really do obey the leash law but we’re in a community too….if we were out on some acreage probably animals would be roamers. We worry about any animal that’s free to wander though…….too scary out there on your own!

The stroganoff was fabulous – Mom gave me a bit of hamburger before she added the other ingredients……and the bacon was – well – how can I put this……..FABBBBBO!!!!!

  10. Mmm biscotti! Mommy’s experience with invisible fences shows it works well with larger breeds but terriers are iffy. Miss D could scent a squirrel and she’d be off, fence or no fence, then, when the chase has ended and the adrenaline worn off, there she’d be, stuck on the outside of the fence! But maybe if your neighbor learns his boundaries as a puppy, he’ll be less inclined to roam. Enjoy your bacon and biscotti!

    • They’ve been training him to know where his yard boundaries are – maybe that will help…..I guess time will tell!!! You guys know schnauzers if anyone does that’s for sure…… 🙂

  13. Oh Sammy, another Caturday is rolling by. Enjoy your Biscotti….mom has tried it and said it was too hard for her but the idea of dunking it in tea never dawned on her. Good idea. I don’t care for the invisible fences. Don’t they work by giving the dog an electric shock? A puppy can be bound and determined to get something past his allowable space and he could get shock after shock. No, not good…building a fence is better and the dog can actually see that it is there.

    Bug hugs,

    • Biscotti is a pain in the neck to make and YES it’s terribly hard but once dunked in hot chocolate or tea or coffee – it’s FABULOUS!!!!! I don’t know much about the invisible fences but to me it seems like they’d have to give the animal a shock – seems mean to me!!

  14. We didn’t even have time for breakfast. Worried about Merlin not eating.
Our neighbors to the west have dogs. One has a high fence so we never see him and the other has an invisible fence which works. He never goes near the boundary but Odin like snoop on the edge.

    • Oh Layla I’m sorry about Merlin not eating…you’re usually able to coax him to have something…..does he seem alright otherwise? Bless his heart…..Sam and I are sending love and purrs and hope that he’ll have a little nibble of something to eat for energy.

It rained here all day so the dog next door hasn’t been out to try out the fence – we’ll be keeping an eye out though!!

  15. Sammy, your mom is so good to you. Enjoy your biscotti and bacon!

Our neighbor has the invisible fence for their dogs…golden retrievers…and it works! They rarely come in our yard. But our other neighbors have a little Boston Terrier and no fence…and she comes in our yard all the time…mostly to bark at the squirrels and pee on our plants. 😉

    • Well, I suppose we’re lucky here then – we’re sandwiched between dog families – one has a REAL fence and the others have the invisible fence…..only time will tell whether the invisible one works – we hear the beagles next door barking at the squirrels and deer all the time…..the little schnauzer hasn’t spent much time outside yet but those days are coming I’m sure so it’s nice to hear they work!

  17. We hope your neighbors invisible fence worked out. Woofies that stay in their own yards make much better neighbors. Our neighbor has a Yorkshire Terrier named Roxie; we are terrified of her. She isn’t very big but wow is she noisy. Mom and Dad think Roxie is adorable.

We hope your mom enjoys her biscotti and you enjoy your bacon. Love, Cali, Andy, Tater and Shelly (C.A.T.S)
