STEP RIGHT UP LADIES AND GENTS AND ANIMALS OF ALL DESCRIPTIONS!

TIME FOR THE TEASER TELL ALL!!

That was a good one as it turned out…………wasn’t it?   However we did have a FIRST RIGHT GUESSER……..and several RIGHT GUESSERS as well………………so before I give you the info on won, let me show you the photos one more time!

TeaserAug26

Mom took these photos on a vacation many years ago she and my Dad took to Boston……however, the photos aren’t FROM Boston, they are ones she snapped while visiting Plimouth Plantation, near Middleboro, Massachusetts!   Here’s the website for the Plantation – it’s a really FUN website so please visit it if you have time…….. CLICK HERE.   The recreated village takes you back to the 1600’s in a really wonderful way………..here’s what Wikipedia said:

Plimoth Plantation is a living museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA, that shows the original settlement of the Plymouth Colony established in the 17th century by English colonists, some of whom later became known as Pilgrims. They were among the first people who immigrated to America to avoid religious persecution and to seek religious separation from the Church of England.[1] It currently is a not-for-profit museum supported by admissions, contributions, grants and volunteers.[2]

It took my parents a while to visit everything – it was just so fascinating.  Everyone was in clothing of the period and were occupied doing “every day life” in the village………there was a smithy, women cooking in the homes over open fires, farming, tending livestock……everything as authentic as it could be.  If you approach one of the volunteers in costume to engage them in a chat or ask a question,  they will respond as they would have in the 1600’s.

SO – who was the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER you want to know???  It was the Kitties Blue of The Cat On My Head!   That’s right!   This my friends is yours!

For the FIRST to guess right!

For the FIRST to guess right!

I’m giving an Honorable Mention to our fabulous Teaser buddy and pal, Mr. Leo because HE actually named the Plantation (although he neglected to name the town and State) – so Leo this is for you!

Sometimes someone gets THIS!

Sometimes someone gets THIS!

Everyone else who guessed right gets this one:

Right but not FIRST!

Right but not FIRST!

And those of you who were in the CLUELESS category get THE GREENIE!

For the clueless or wrong guesses!

For the clueless or wrong guesses!

Now wasn’t that FUN?   Let’s do this again NEXT Tuesday – what do you say?

HUGS, Sammy the Teaser

  1. Cool village! Mom visited a place something like that with the kids in her class for a field trip when she was a teacher. It was called Waterloo Village and had colonial guys working on their colonial jobs for the kids to see. Fun!

  2. Well done Kitties Blue!! We looked before mum went out yesterday, but it wasn’t up, so missed out on guessing. However, I know we wouldn’t have got it right anyway!! We would have said the set for a Jane Austen novel MOL

  3. Do the people that work there showers regularly? Or they keep loyal to the sanitary habits of those days?
    Do they have sewage system?
    Do they burn witches?
    Do they kill native americans?

    Yay for Leo The Benevolent.

  6. Congrats to Kitties Blue! I wish I could live there for some days only to see how it was as the Pilgrims landed there. Some places have so much interesting things that we can’t see them all on one day :o)

    • There are places like this all around the country – actually around the world……everyone celebrating their heritage and their history. Our closest spot like that is Old Town Alexandria, VA although they don’t have a historic village – but it’s a very old town and they have nighttime tours with people in costume.

    • It really was an interesting place – Leo says it now costs $35 to get into the place which is really too bad because I bet that keeps a lot of people from enjoying the walk around to see everything! 😦

  11. Concats to the winners. Mum thought it was a museum village. There was an exhibition several years ago on Plymouth Hoe which is about half a mile from the Mayflower Steps. They had photos of those houses and she remembered the Pilgrims landed at Cape Cod and named their settlement after Plymouth UK which is where we live.

    • How totally cool that you’re in the “original” Plymouth, Flynn. My Mom and Dad had a fabulous time exploring the village and the museum/artifacts. History is SOOOO fascinating!!!

  12. Hi Sammy, The Human is being so unhelpful I can’t do a thing with her. Guess what? One of the teachers quit on the first day of school! It was a SCIENCE teacher! So my English-major Human was teaching chemistry and madly helping to interview applicants and Thank Cod they hired someone today–whew. Man, what a hot mess this has been and frankly she’s been feeding me but not much more. We are really looking forward to FRIDAY!!!

    • Poor Spitty – this definitely is not the treatment a Kingly Kat deserves that’s for sure…..that’s just plain AWFUL that a teacher quits on the first day of school! Imagine that….why not ahead of time so things could be properly covered???? Just mean!!!! Your Human stepping up and taking over was a REAL help but also made it rather difficult for her to keep her head above water I’m sure. I should think that once the new teacher gets settled purrrrrhaps things will get back to whatever passes for normal around your house! I’m still waiting for NORMAL here………

      Hugs, Sammy
