Finally Friday

Standard

Happy Friday!   Those of you who work are happy today is the last day of your work week (hopefully) and those of you who are like my Mom and Dad and are retired will look forward to Friday as just another day in paradise (HAHAHA).

Thanks everybody for your concern about me and my thyroid issue – we’re staying positive here and Mom says she’s hoping the differences in my behavior are temporary as I adjust to my meds.  I’m quite restless when I’m awake but I am sleeping more and I think Mom’s enjoying the breaks from the neediness/restlessness when I’m taking a nap in my tent!   I don’t blame her………but I have to say I’m a bit confused about how I’m feeling too.   I’m hopping up and down off Mom’s lap after only about four or five minutes at the most whereas before I was sleeping deeply while snuggled on her legs on the recliner.   She says she misses me – HEY MOM- I’m still HERE!!!!!!

Sleeping.........AGAIN!

Anyway, ONWARD.

Today was a majorly sunny day and on the warmish side at 85 for a high.  I asked Mom if I could go outside and I did go briefly – long enough for a bite of grass – then back into the A/C.   I still like a bit of green stuff from time to time!  See?  Some things NEVER change.

Sam outside in front yard

Oh boy…..green stuff!!

Mom finally got a battery for her digital camera so I’m going to have her take some updated photos of MY plants on the back deck…..you’ll be interested to see the “before” (when first planted) and “after” (now) shots.  Especially MY tomato plant – it’s HUGE……I mean BIG………and we harvested two tomatoes off of it today which my Mom and Dad are eating in a salad tonight.  YAY……Mom says there is NOTHING like a homegrown tomato.  I wouldn’t know – I think they’re fun to push around on the floor if one falls down there but other than that I have no interest in them!   I’ll post the photos on my Saturday blog.

Well it should be no surprise that all the attention I’m getting is pumping up my ego – last night I had a dream that I was the KING of Times Square!   What do you know about that!!!!!!!

SAMTIMESSQUARE

Hope you have a HAPPY Friday………..I’m going to be super busy today myself at Cat Scouts!   My Troop is taking a Riverboat Cruise so I’ll be busy photoshopping and posting all weekend.  Sigh.  A Troop Leader’s work is never done!

HUGS, Sammy

  2. Sammy, For quite a few days I was worrying The Staff because I wasn’t being my normal self. I kept meowing and wanting her attention all the time. And I didn’t even have the excuse you’ve got! So I think you are doing good, buddy and adjusting really well. But if you want a pal to meow with, I can pop over in my Learjet 60 and we can hit the town! 🙂

    • I took my meds yesterday AND today with no problem!! YAY FOR ME!! Interestingly we haven’t seen a sign of a flea……never have all the years we’ve lived here….and Mom’s never found a flea on me or in the house!!!! She’s glad about that because many years ago she DID have a flea problem in the house when she had three kitties – even though they were all indoor cats, she lived in an apartment and there was a big flea problem. They’re tough to get rid of I know that!!!!

Yous is always a KING in my books! Me is sorry that your thyroid is messing yous up so bad. It took Hissy Old Licorice about 4 months before he was normalish after he started taking the medications. Mes used to wash his ears a lot to calm him. And it helped. Purrhaps mes should comes over there and cleans your ears….
Mommy is furry tired. Mes checked on her every hour last night and everytime me waked her up to ask if she was sleeping, she growled! Humans!!!
Kisses Sammy and kisses for your Mommy too!

    • Oh Nellie a nice ear wash would be lovely……I like my Mom to rub my ears for me and she does that when I’m on her lap! I’m sorry your Mommy is so tired but she worked SO hard and had a short break and now will be starting up the hard work again………I know you will cheer her on when you can – I bet she won’t ALWAYS growl at you – just if she’s super sleepy!

  5. Awww Sammy, you are always the King in our book too! I know it takes awhile for thyroid medicine to regulate. I would have called the vet 50 times by now and drove her nuts if it was me and any of the kids here! Hang in there you guys! Hope things settle down soon! Loves and hugs to all!

    • Thanks so much for the encouragement! I’m being very patient for the medicine to work but Mom and I both realize that some of my behavior might be changing permanently. Hey – I’m still ME!!!! HAHAHA I took my medicine again this morning no problem…..so we’re doing what we need to do. It’s great to have so many friends pulling for me though! 😉

  7. Sammy sweetie it does take some time to adjust to meds. My human sissy’s kitty has diabetes and IBD…different meds for both that have to work together and getting the type of food right for both. In the beginning of his diagnosis (when he was 5) and when his tummy was feeling so bad he was down to 6 lbs… it took a month or so for him to start showing signs of being this crazy self. NOW he is up to 13 lb. He just turned 10 in July and has done very well. He has to have two insulin shots a day too. Hang in there sweet handsome Sammy

  9. Oh dear meds. I know what you mean Sammy. They gave me a steroid shot and I couldn’t stop eating or drinking. I must have put on 3 pounds….I’d lost weight so the extra weight helped me.

  10. Taking medicine can change your behavior a little. Plus what gorgeous kitty doesn’t need some beauty sleep? The day after Mom puts on my flea medicine every month, I am a little more scared than usual, and sometimes, I shiver and need my sweater on.

    • Oh Cupcake…..I bet your sweater feels “secure and cozy” doesn’t it……I have a sweater that my friend Easy sent me – maybe I should try that in the morning after my meds. That’s when I get the sleepy-est!!!

  11. Sammy, we hope you are close to the end of your adjustment time to the meds and that you will be your good old self soon. We can’t wait to see the garden pics, Mom loves a good homegrown tomato too – sadly we don’t have any:( Maybe next year, as Mom always says:)

    Happy weekend.

  12. Oh sweetie Sammy, I’m really sorry to hear you’ve had a health worry this week. Sounds like mum’s got her attention on the pulse of the issue and you couldn’t be in better hands, I know that for sure. R&R is a good idea. I was happy to see you wanted outsie to munch on the grass. That made me sigh with a wee bit of comfort. xoxoxox K

    • Hi Miss Boomdee…..as the Brits say, I’ve been “poorly” but Mom says in a week or so I should have adjusted to my meds and I will be more normal (if in fact I’ve ever actually BEEN “normal”!!!!!!). Thanks for the positive vibe though………it helps!!!
