Today will be a long day around here…………..Mom and Dad are going next door later for a cookout with friends, then coming back over here for fireworks and croquet……….where will I be?  INSIDE TAKING COVER!   Actually I’m not scared of fireworks so who knows – maybe I’ll ask Mom to let me sit on the front porch while they do their thing way down in the front yard.

THANK YOU so much everyone for sending purrs and prayers to my friend Raz’s Dad who had a cath and surgery yesterday.  He’s fine and will get to come home today after a successful “repair”……….obviously his family is relieved but so are ALL of us.   When something is wrong with one of us – it’s wrong with all of us right?   Anyway, HUGS to you all for your thoughts – I know Raz appreciated that.

Today the 4th of July is being celebrated all over the blogosphere but one spot where I’m involved is the Tabby Cat Club – with my friends Raz and Gracie and all of you kitties who are tabbies and part of the club.   We’re having a blast – you don’t have to be a member of the Club to see the photos and comment if you like so come on by to visit us HERE.   Now if you ARE a tabby cat and would like to join?  Please do!  We have tons of fun.

We’re also celebrating the 4th on Cat Scouts (I’m a busy guy aren’t I???) – with an all day picnic and a float parade.  Floats?  Yep – like the Rose Parade only with cats…hahaha…My Troop is called The Wildcats – I’m the Troop Leader and all four Patrols in my Troop are making floats for the parade.  I’ll share photos with you on Saturday’s blog!

Over and above these celebrations my Mom can’t help but think about her Dad today – he was VERY patriotic – he loved serving in the United States Air Force, which he did for his entire career.   Whenever he had the occasion to, he was in his uniform proudly saluting as the flag or a member of the Armed Forces walked by in a parade or at an event.  Maybe nobody else noticed, but my Mom did – often a tear would escape his eye because he was so full of pride when he saw the flag…..my Mom got that sense of pride of country from him.  Of all the songs written about the USA or celebrated by people in the USA, this remains her favorite:

    • Hi FozzieGANG! Happy Friday….and thanks for the July 4 wishes at the TCC and here too! It will be a long day of eating and fun around here and I’m READY……..I have to wear several “hats” today – the TCC, Scouts and my blog – I ought to be exhausted enough not to care about the loud fireworks in my front yard tonight!!!

  8. You are VERY brave to wear that outfit, Sam. Mom’s dad was also a patriotic veteran guy. She remembers when they moved from an apartment to a house, the very first thing he bought was a flag to hang out front. God bless America.

    • Hi Cupcake! God Bless America indeed……today is a day to celebrate how lucky we are to live here (even if there’s scary fireworks once in a while). I hope you and your Mom have a really great day today….my parents are going to a cookout where they’re having crabs to eat and Mom promised to bring me some leftovers. Sending you Patriotic HUGS!

  14. Uncle Sam hahaha, good one! I understand what your grampy felt on a day like that and it’s a great feeling to be a part of it and sometimes this feeling is just overwhelming. And that’s wonderful isn’t it? To be a part of it because you want it and to be a part of it with heart and soul, that’s really a reason to be proud. I hope for a firework with silencers, like your mom promised and a fabulous day at casa Kimmel and at the cat scouts!

    • Hi Easy! It was an amazing July 4th – Mom and I spent the day working on things at Cat Scouts but she kept having to LEAVE to do stuff like cook, visit the neighbors, drink (oops)…….finally they came back home but stayed in the front yard doing fireworks and making noise! Imagine that…..but overall it was tons of fun and I’m having my OWN kind of fun today catching up with naps! Hope you have a fabulous weekend……

    • Hi Miss Pix! Hope you all had a nice 4th – we did here too although maybe it was just a bit too noisy later in the evening…… 😉 Mom’s potato salad got ALLLLLLLLLLLLL eaten up at the cookout. They had a bazillion crabs too and Mom brought me back some!

    • Hi Kitties Blue! Please make sure Mau knows how much I appreciated him doing the cake walks for the picnic yesterday – I think everyone had a blast. I sure did even if I didn’t stay for the entire day – I think we all needed to take a break here and there – it was a lot of work too wasn’t it?!?!?!?! Also happy to hear your Mom got to go swimming in the pool. YAY! Have a nice QUIET weekend.

    • What a great time we all had at Scouts yesterday! I got tired and had to leave early (plus my parents had to go to a cookout!!!)……..but when they came home we checked things out on the site and it looked like everyone had a blast!!! So happy about that.

  24. Happy 4th of July Sammy. That is one of my favorite songs too. My sister and I love America and love to wear the red, white and blue. The other day we were looking at American flag shirts and this lady says “if you get that you can only wear it 2 days out of the year, the 4th of July and Memorial day” I thought my sister was going to have a stroke 😉 She wears America’s colors proudly almost every single day of the year.

  30. We’re so glad the cath went well. bellieve it or not our dad used to do surgeries on “restenosis” – when the placque grows back into the stent – with his radiation stuff. It worked REAL well. But we are still hoping he won’t need the services of someone like our dad – ever. We’re headed over now to send them paws of encouragement!

    • Thanks for sending Raz and his family some encouragement – his Dad is feeling better already…..he’s had several stents before – how pawsome that there’s a way to get rid of the placque when it comes back……medicine is amazing!

    • I was surprised how many we had in the neighborhood last night – they were ALL around us – we felt like cowboys surrounded by Indians on the prairie! (HAHA) This morning it’s quiet so I’m napping to make up for lost sleep!

    • We certainly DID have some bangs and booms and a lot of hiding out in the garage….but it was quiet last night so I guess we’re good in the firework department for another year – oh wait – New Year’s Eve is before NEXT July 4th…..oh well…….
