Fearless Friday

Standard

Friday………….monster day…………and not just monster day but also “guys coming to clean the gutters day”……..which is the noisiest?   Time will tell!  Meanwhile I’m resolved to be fearless……fearless in the face of noise and destruction (well, alright so that’s a little bit dramatic but there will be noise!).

The gutter guys have actually been here several years in a row and they’re so fast we hardly know they’ve done their thing.  There’s a crew of like three guys – they hook up their hoses, put up their extension ladders, climb up on the roof with their leaf blowing machines – blow off all the leaves, use the hoses to wash out the gutters, pop back down, rake up all the leaves they blew off the roof and out of the gutters and are GONE in about 15 minutes.  Amazing huh?   They know what they’re doing.  My favorite spot to watch the operation is up in my Mom’s studio because there’s a skylight.  When the guy comes by the skylight with the blower and the hose I can watch him and I’ve learned I’m safe.  Maybe it’s noisy but I’m safe………..kinda like the vacuum cleaner/monster.  I know Mom isn’t gonna suck me up in that thing – but the racket is almost unbearable on my tender ears!

Spring House

We have a lot of gutters for the guys to clear out….(old photo of my house from Spring)

Mom says she MIGHT get Dad to bring the tree up from the basement today – that would be fun………………I love when they start unpacking all the ornaments…..I like to give stuff a poke, sit in the boxtops and watch, and then – my FAVORITE moment – the tree’s up and I can get UNDER it and nap.

Where's The Christmas Tree?

I’ll sit quietly nearby and watch the tree going up!

They say we MIGHT get a dusting of snow or a bit of sleet this Sunday.  Will I mind?  Nope.  I’ll be inside by the fire or in Mom’s lap burping away from my Sunday morning bacon breakfast.

Oh – I also completed another little project – this one was to help Santa Paws – you know – just making sure he knows what he needs to know on Christmas Eve !!!  What do you think?????

SantaMap

Know what?  I really AM “one spoiled cat” aren’t I ??!!   Guess I named my blog the right thing……………..

  4. Out here in SoCal, our gutter process is a lot more simple! It just takes a handyman a few minutes to do one side of the house (the other side doesn’t get leaves) and I never even notice he’s there!

  5. Sammy your house is so beautiful and worth all the care taken…the photo of spring…the grass!!!!! I am as green with envy as that lush looking grass…we get all the gutters done her by us hehehe we don’t have as a high a way to go as your folks..except the barn when I did them and Fozziedad came home and had a fit hahaha ..I think your map for Santa is brilliant…I am sure he will find you!! • We USED to have a decent lawn here Fozziemum but one of the BAD things about being on a hill is that all the nice topsoil eventually erodes right DOWN the hill and then we have icky grass. That’s an old photo but we used to have such a pretty lawn….with lots of munchable grass….sniff sniff. I hope my Santa map works – I’m expecting GREAT THINGS from him this year!

  6. Sounds like you’ve got everything under control, Sammy! Guess what? Motor Mommy FINALLY decorated our tree yesterday, and I’ve been unable to resist knocking those cute little crocheted stockings off…..Hmmm….. AND I snuck into a picture she took of the tree last night! Check it out on her blog today!
Good luck with all those noisy monster machines today!

  8. We hope the gutter guys don’t scare you too much. We love having the Christmas tree up but we get scared when our pawrents move the furniture around. We love to lay under the tree. Mom calls us her presents. Your map is really cool. Love, Cali, Andy, Tater and Shelly (C.A.T.S)

  9. I’m with you pal. I don’t like the loud noises either. They tend to make me squeal and do a little bark/rooster call. Although mom/dad find it humorous when I make that sound, I find it appalling because well you know I’m a man pig. Right?
Mom/dad are also discussing the decoration/tree situation for this weekend. Someone, not mentioning names and looking around innocently, tried to eat the tree last year and pushed it over. Shame on that Hemi – snorts.
As far as your Santa tracker – I’m loving that idea. I think I need to get my list together this weekend. Have a great day Jingle Bell Sammy! XOXO – Bacon

    • Hi Bacon….so you got blamed for an almost-Christmas-Tree-Pull-Down last year? I can’t believe it!!! Well, maybe the answer is to have a table tree – OFF the floor so nobody (not naming names) can reach it!!!! As for squealing and barking, I think that’s actually a VERY manly thing to do. Yep – you’re just telling your housemates that there’s a dangerous amount of noise and they’d best protect their ears – part of our job as “House Security” so I hope your family appreciates it!

      • WOW Sammy – you are so full of knowledge. I didn’t think about it that way. You are so correct. And if said tree wasn’t on the floor in someone’s play area, then said tree wouldn’t have gotten tired and decided to lay down on his own. That’s the ticket. <> snorts. XOXO – Bacon

        • See? IT’s all a matter of purrrspective….we can’t help it if trees get pooped and lie down – nope – it’s just a good thing we’re there when it happens so we can make sure and alert our humans that the tree has decided to take a nap. Tee Hee

          • That is excellent information. I will so have to remember that for future lapses in the tree’s horizontal stance. I think my humans aren’t getting a tree this year. They discussed it all weekend. They are definitely up to something here at the Hotel Thompson. XOXO – Bacon

          • Uhoh….no tree? NO TREEEEEE????? Seems to me that’s got to be against the law or something….every pig needs a Christmas tree – I’m SURE I’ve read that somewhere.

  10. Hey Sammy! I’m back..sorry to go missing in comments. And my visits have been only like 10 a day at best. I try to keep my posting up and to work rescue on. FB and Twitter. So much to do. And Mom and Dad are preparing for a HUGE trip in January so our holiday will be very limited. Not much of a tree to nap under this. Once we get it up I’ll share for sure. Paw hugs, Savannah

    • Hi Savvy……I’m glad you will have a tree this year – and don’t worry about blog visits – we know you’re there and we know you know we’re here but since you’ve been so mysterious we have been just a tad worried. Thanks for stopping by though – I’m always happy to see you!!

    • Hi Clowie! Well I hope he can find me – the only thing I don’t have is a big flashing sign saying “SAMMY’S HOUSE” but Mom wouldn’t let me do that because it would cause a huge electric bill.

  11. Sammy you are not only an adorable Man-Cat Santa, but you were an exceptionally cute Kitten Claus. If Santa cannot find your house with that map, Mrs. Claus better be gifting him with a GPS. • HI there! Thanks for stopping by my house for a visit. I just got back from visiting YOU too! I do have tons of birds to watch thanks to the woods….AND deer, and skunks, and groundhogs, and possums and – well – all kinds of things including cats coming by for a free meal. I enjoyed seeing that little kitten you allowed to come inside for a rest and some food. He’s so adorable! Good for you…….sometimes we need a bit of help when we’re little and on our own.

  13. Sammy, our dad-guy cleans our gutters out. And you should see it. He gets the big ladder out and makes a big mess. Sometimes next door guy comes over and helps him. Next door guy likes to get up on the roof with the blower thingey. They sure make a lot of noise!

    Have a great weekend!

    • YIKES CK……purrrhaps you need to give Santa something a bit more specific than my map – how about a flat strapped to the CORRECT chimney with a big picture of YOU on it? “CK LIVES HERE!!” – something in his favorite color purrhaps (red of course). Dog toys – yuck – dogs play with big, lumbersome stuff AND even icky treats like antlers and pig ears? Who wants THAT stuff!!
