OOPS – excuse me!!! Sorry about that……maybe (only maybe) I might have overdone the leftovers Mom brought back from the Thanksgiving eat-a-thon she and my Dad went to yesterday. But honest, I only ate a tiny bit of turkey and a lick or two of stuffing and THAT’s ALL!
NO this is not me but it could have
been if I hadn’t shown some restraint!
Actually it makes me sad when I see way overweight dogs or cats and people are acting like it’s no big deal………or that it’s funny………because actually it means those animals are going to have BIG health issues if they don’t already……! I’m glad I’m staying my adorable slim self – I weigh 12 lbs. right now and my Vet says I’m “just right” for my bone structure (Mom uses that excuse herself in fact….HAHAHAHA).
See? Slim and trim….(even my cat pillow look-alike is slim!)
So, today should be a very quiet day………I know Fridays are my usual Monster Day but since my parents just got back this morning, no monster today – probably tomorrow. We had a ton of rain from that bad storm that brought lots of ice and snow west of us so the leaves in the yard are still too wet for the outside monster to suck them up. YAY – I get a break on that too.
This is my first year ever pawticipating in a Secret Santa Paws gift exchange! The family I got for “Secret Paws” are a blog I’m not familiar with so I’m hoping to make some new friends. I haven’t started shopping for them yet but I will soon. That will be lots of fun. Meanwhile I need to get my Santa Wish List done – I’m still making changes to it. It’s tough…..there are lotsa things I’d like to get that I see on other cats’ blogs, but most of them are younger than I am and still have the bounce and energy to play with them. Me? I’m kind of the quiet, settled (does that mean lazy?) kind of senior citizen. I already have a new bed (which I ignore) and my arthritis keeps me from being able to climb (so that rules out cat trees), but if you have any ideas – just let me know will you?
Have a PAWSOME Friday everybody………………………..tomorrow is BACON CATURDAY! Until then I believe I’ll do a bit of post-turkey napping!

My human brought home a bunch of turkey for us kitties! So much, in fact, that there was even some for the dog! Sadly, she has selfishly kept the stuffing to herself.

Thank goodness your mom watches out for your weight, Sammy. Mine does, too. She weighs me every week or so. The vet says my body is perfect with a cute little waistline and a tucked up tummy. If it were up to me, I’d look more like that first ginger cat picture. I love to eat, but I also love being healthy. I think you might put a cuddly blanket on your Christmas list…..

My friend Bubbles is the same .. he is a senior puss cat and has a bit of arthritis, he has water bowel beds and a litter tray all on the floor but refuses to use them! No matter how much encouragement he gets .. silly cat. I think you should get a warm fluffy bed … or perhaps one of them igloo things 😀 xx

Glad you had enough turkey to at least need to burp! We too hate to see overweight pets. Our littlest girl cat is in danger of needing dietary control but she came as a stray and panics at food times. Hope we can keep things under control. What to get a senior cat for Christmas, eh? We have the same problem with Edgar – the only place he wants a bed is on the kitchen worktop 😀

HA….well I’ve never seen my Mom’s kitchen worktop – everyone says it’s a pretty cool spot from which to watch things but I’ve never been much of a “climber-upper”……As for overweight pets – it makes me sad…..they’ll have joint problems or heart problems or who knows what and all their humans think is “isn’t he/she CUTE???”………sigh.

My fur-baby is very good about controlling her weight. She’s weighed within 2 oz. of the same weight for the last 5 yrs. She’s a senior catizen, too, and has problems with arthritis. And I can sympathize with both of you. Glad you got a taste of Thanksgiving turkey!

There sure would Sammy..Marbles is on a diet poor old sausage and meds for arthritis..i must say she is much more active since losing a bit of chubbs and being on her meds, Dinnermintz gets upset she can’t have kibble but even the special one for UTI is no good..she ends up weeing blood poor baby Doc cant have his favourite bones because he got Pancreatitis so he is unimpressed and if I have too much Lactose well I am in trouble..but I still sneak it in cream or cheese 😉

We’re all falling apart in our own ways aren’t we Fozziemum!!! I’ve actually got it pretty good – while my arthritis bothers me, so far the doc says he doesn’t think I need meds….(I beg to differ but that’s another story)….and no bathroom issues for me (yet)…..and I never get sick (yay)……Mom and Dad have the usual “almost 70” aches and pains but so far so good with my Mom’s YUCKY ICKY BAD BAD BAD sick she had a few years ago coming back….LIFE IS GOOD FOR THE KIMMELL FAMILY!!!! I guess we’re all lucky huh? We’re here for another holiday – that’s a good thing.

I agree Sammy we are all lucky to be here..little aches and pains mean nothing when we see the things some people and anipals face..my old Arfur-eye-tis plays up too but the choppy changey weather doesn’t help..if I keep moving I am fine..poor old Fozziedad hurt his shoulder the other day throwing the boys toys…he has been pretty sore..so up the ladder I went to get the xmas tree and things from the roof….boy it was like a sauna up there!! now I know why I send him up every year hahaaa 🙂 Hugs to you Sammy and happy Sunday xxx

Know what Nylablue? The heating pad is probably a good idea – my Mom and Dad were looking at those then decided to get a fleecy bed for me instead of one with heat and I don’t like it. But the heated thing might feel good on my old bones. Please tell your Mum THANKS for the idea. I don’t really need any more toys either – I just don’t play all that much anymore – I like to follow my Mom around the house, ask her to take me outside once in a while, and SLEEP. Those are my fave things. I guess I’m kinda boring huh?!?! 😦

Sammy, you and Odin are the same build and weight and purrfectly healhy. We’re doing secret paws too. Do you have any kitty stairs? Merlin has a hard time jumping up higher than about a foot so we have all kinds of step stools to give a “leg up”.

Layla you won’t believe this but Sam will NOT use kitty stairs or even a ramp or chair or footstool. He’s just sticking to “level ground” these days unless I PUT him up on a bed, etc. Then he’ll call me when he’s ready to get down. He can hop up on my lap though and the sofa…..His shoulders don’t seem to bother him all the time either…..but after he’s been “immobile” for a while, when he first gets up and starts walking he has a limp. His vet always calls it his “wonky knee”…I’ll be talking to the vet his next trip there. I just want to help him if he needs it.

I know when I get to be that age my Mom isn’t gonna care WHAT I weigh as long as I still crawl up on her lap from time to time to keep her company!! Oh my goodness, that kitty is a tad chubby. We are constantly trying to monitor Blossums food so she doesn’t get any rounder. Petals is a ting little nibbler and Blossum gobbles all her food and then runs to Petals bowl. I’ve began to feed Petals on the kitchen island (Mr B doesn’t like it). My Vet thinks I should feed them in separate rooms but I can’t be going to the door every 20 min. when Petals wants a nibble, plus sometimes she fakes it (goes to the bowl then runs away). Congratulations on your svelte figure Sammy, I have some knowledge in how hard it is to maintain it. xoK
