Hopefully Wet Thursday

Standard

Hello everybody!   So we were promised rain today – and we NEED it – BAD.   No jokes from me about floating away or building an ark – WE NEED RAIN.   Everything is limp and dried up and pretty soon we’ll be seeing leaves just dropping off the trees and not bothering to turn pretty colors because they’re SO THIRSTY!

So I’m thinking I should do a rain dance.  You know – like the indian tribes do.  Only thing is I have arthritis and I’m afraid it would hurt my old bones to hop around like that.  So I’m just gonna think positively and WISH for rain.  That doesn’t hurt my shoulders AT all…….

Maybe not QUITE this much rain but SOME rain anyway!

Maybe not QUITE this much rain but SOME rain anyway!

There’s my house up on a hill safe from flooding so RAIN RAIN RAIN – it’s alright with me.  If it rains all day my parents will stay home anyway – which is a good thing.  That means I can rest easy – don’t have to guard the house while they’re gone……I can nap and relax.  Mom will probably be in her office working on some of the upcoming blog events to get ME ready (Tee hee) and Dad will be out in his shop or down in the basement tinkering.  I’m a bit unclear to this day about that “tinkering” thing because personally I think what he does is hide out somewhere and take a nap but hey – I can’t point fingers here – I’m the KING OF NAPS!

Last night my parents went out to dinner for their anniversary which was this past Sunday.  Their fave restaurant in town is packed to the gills on weekends so they waited until mid-week to go.  Did they think to bring their little fella a snackable from dinner?  Just a little morsel to say “we thought of you Sammy” ?  Heck no.  And the worst thing about that is that my Mom had seafood – which I adore…..she had calamari and she had soft-shell crabs – I could EASILY have packed away a bit of those I’m quite sure.  Dad had something called a mixed grill which was meat of three kinds but I’m not a meat guy.  MOM LET ME DOWN.

So, how about you?  What’s up in your house today?  Anything exciting?  I hope so, because other than dancing around hoping for rain, it’s liable to be QUIET and BORING around here today.  😦

    • I agree Bailey – it was very mean of them not to get a “Kitty Bag” of leftovers to bring home to poor little pitiful me. I made sure they knew I was NOT happy when they walked in the door – I screamed for five solid minutes. I think they got the message!!!!

  3. Sounds like you’ll have a quiet day, Sammy. Mom will be out this morning, but later plumbers are coming! I’m pretty sure I’ll be afraid of them, but Mom will keep me on my leash to protect me, and give me treats if I’m good. The plumbers will put shut-off things on our radiators, so the winter won’t be like a greenhouse in here. I’ll watch, and maybe bark, and maybe hide and eat treats.

    • Oh dearie me Cupcake…..strangers in the house huh? That would be scary to me too so I know how you’ll feel. Just try to be a good girl so you’ll get some treats out of it – and you never know – maybe the plumbers will think you’re adorable and want to give you a pet or two???!!!

      • They did pet me, Sammy. I was a VERY good girl and sat on the sofa next to Mom the whole time (except when I stuck my head into their tool bucket). I wasn’t scared at all. But they left a piece of cardboard on the lawn, and I was afraid of that when I went outside!

        • Good for you Cupcake! I knew they’d fall in love with you when they saw you…..as for sticking your head in their tool bucket, I bet they expected you to do that – just to see all the fun stuff they had with them – too bad there wasn’t a treat in there for you…tee hee…..sorry they scared you by leaving behind some cardboard. When the lawn guys visit my house and stick little flags in the lawn I’m quite afraid of those too until I’ve had a good sniff of them. Things that we don’t EXPECT are scary. I agree. Happy Friday Cupcake!

Thanks for offering us some rain – we sure do need it!

  6. We have our finger crossed for rain for you and the Tiny Ten. Hasn’t rained here for over a month and we have been in the high 90’s every dang day in September. 87 today and a strong cold front pushes thru tonite. Not much promise of rain. We are back in drought and the trees are looking bad and sad. We always wait for the weekdays too to eat out. Much more quiet! Glad your Mom and Dad had a nice Anniversary dinner.

    • Hi Texas! Oh boy – I’d REALLY appreciate it if you and Kitshka could do a bit of a rain dance for me because I’m TRYING but right now Mr. Sun is shining and it’s HOT with NO sign of rain. The weather guy said this morning that the rain he thought we’d get decided to stay on the other side of the mountains BUT (there’s always a “BUT”) we “should” (uh huh) have rain tonight. A bit of a rain dance by you and your little sister would be MOST helpful!

  7. Hi Sammy,
I wish you’ll have a wet Thursday … and more wet days. One day may not be enough the way you describe your surroundings. I can understand you as down here in southern Texas it’s been way to dry for the last 3 or 4 years. We did have some rain in the last 4 days [1.9 inches], but that’s not enough at all. Up to now we’ve had just a tad more than half of what we got last year, and that wasn’t exactly what you’d call a wet year. It’s really been horrible lately. Even the weeds in the garden wilted. Well, that might be a good thing. Saves me work! 😉 But then, Lake Medina [not too far away] is only at 4% of its capacity, the upper Guadalupe river is dry and when we went to Fredericksburg [http://tinyurl.com/lqj8vd2] lately, even the Pedernales up there was nearly dry. Sad, sad, sad! 😦 So we desperately need rain, too.
What we’re up to? Maybe go the nice little town of Gruene to snoop around at antique stores there for furniture, as we’re on the verge of moving to Fredericksburg. That will be an experience for our kitties and doggies, a completely new place!
And now, last but not least, a most happy anniversary [belatedly] to your himans. We had ours only a few weeks ago, and celebrated that in Gruene [http://tinyurl.com/o9fvgds].
Have a great day, and take best of care,

    • Hi Mr. Pit! Sounds like you need rain even more than WE do. Let’s hope and pray ALL of us get some – nothing worse than seeing everything turn brown and blow away before its’ time! We started out in Spring with RAIN constantly – then it just stopped. We’re in between the mountains and the ocean and sometimes our weather from the west gets stuck on the other side of the mountains and never gets here!!! That often happens with rain. We don’t mind as much when it happens with snow though (hahahaha). We saw the photos of your anniversary celebration in Gruene – looks like a really nice area. Moving soon huh? YIKES….my parents are going to move to another community that’s only about a mile from where we live now so it won’t be TOOOOOO traumatic (I hope). Have a super Friday AND weekend and may the force (rain force that is) be with you!!!!!

      • Hi Sammy,
Looks like your prayers – or your rain dance – have worked. Or maybe both. Luckily we did have some rain down here in the last few days. Not enough, but it’s a good beginning.
Glad you liked the anniversary pics from Gruene.
As to moving: we’ll have to see how our canine and feline crew like that and the new place. The good thing: they’ll have large garden there, too. The only thing that bothers us: (our) Pepper has not yet, even after having been around for more than two years now, let us touch him. So we don’t know how we can get him to move with us, and we’d hate to leave him here, fending for himself. Of course, we can have someone come by once in a while, to feed him, but not every day. Keep your paws crossed for a good solution.
        Take best of care,
        Pit and the 4-legged crew

        • Hi Mr. Pit…..glad my rain dance worked for you – it worked here too although we’re still a bit “under” for the year. Still, Fall is coming on with pretty leaves even without the rain we need for a BEAUTIFUL Fall. Moving is stressful for everyone….as to moving Pepper – maybe if you have a crate or something that he will learn to go in you could “trap” him to take when you move? Not allowing you to touch him would be tough but if he went inside a carrying crate maybe you would be able to take him. Anyway, I hope you can figure something out………

Mom and I enjoyed watching you chow down on that chicken taco…..you did an excellent job cleaning up all the bits too – a real “piggyhoover” !!

      • Snorts – piggy hoover – I love that. Mom just calls me the hoover. Heck why vacuum when you have a pet pig, huh? I’m doing a pig dance for rain and sending vibes your way. I hope it makes it to you soon. It seemed like we had rain for 40 days and 40 nights here. I thought the Hotel Thompson was going to be overcome by the creek that runs behind our house in the magical backyard. But it didn’t and we all breathed a sigh of relief. Mom/dad have a date night planned for Saturday night to celebrate their anniversary. They are so looking forward to it. They said it involved something called all you can eat crab legs. I’m not sure what that is but Mouse Girl our Maine Coon had a hissy about it. I think it excited her… of course it doesn’t take much – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

Yeah, the Viceroy thing is pretty pawsome and I’m going out today to shop for an appropriate outfit to go with my appointment to Viceroyship. I’m pretty excited about it. Spitty said he was sure that you’d protect my area from the “hood” and anything I can do to reciprocate, count me in.
