Happy Bacon Day!

Oh boy – oh joy – it’s International Bacon Day!

So I'm celebrating!

So I’m celebrating!

It’s a big day around here…..well, everywhere that bacon is loved and appreciated I suppose because it’s actually an International Bacon Day so that covers everybody everywhere!  When I found out about this special day I had to do some research and what better spot than the blog 365 Days of Bacon which my good friends Miss Caren and Cody from Cat Chat told me about!  WHO KNEW????!!!!!  Was I ever excited about the news!

As you know we always have bacon with our breakfast around here on weekends and today Mom is making EXTRA just so we can celebrate in style.   The way I go on about the stuff you’d think I eat packages of the stuff right?  Well the truth of the matter is that I only eat a tiny piece.  That’s all I want really.  I’m not a (pardon the expression) PIG when it comes to having bacon.

My Mom got into the spirit of the occasion though and in honor of the day, my Mom brought out SOME (and I mean some) of her pawsome and extensive collection of piggies – she’s collected them for YEARS.  People have gifted them to her, she’s bought them on her world travels, and we find them in shops and stores all over the place.  Mom has a special little display cabinet in her studio with them and just for me (because I said “Pretty Please With Bacon On Top”) she got some down and took a few photos of them so I could share!

Ceramic, cloth, rubber, wooden....Mom's got all kinds of piggies!

Pretty cool huh?   She has others – including a pig her Mom had that she bought when they all lived in Taiwan many years ago.  It was carved out of some kind of dark wood and is one of my Mom’s favorites.   I think they’re quite cute and when Mom was taking these photos I tried to eat a few of them and/or steal them and run off with them.  They are NEVER out of their cabinet so this was a treat to sniff see them up close!

Also, I want to say that if you don’t know a little piggy who has a blog whose name is “Bacon” you should today of all days go over and introduce yourself to him HERE – and if you DO know him, make sure and stop by because he does – after all – have an INTERNATIONAL day named after him since it’s International Bacon Day!!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day – I sure am enjoying it so far……………………”Hey Mom……………bring on the bacon” !!!!!

So Excited!

Happy Friday!  You know today is Monster Day here but I’m so excited I don’t even CARE about that………..nope – sure don’t.  Why am I so excited you might ask?????  Well, yesterday I found out that Saturday, THIS SATURDAY, August 31st is “International Bacon Day” !   Our friend Miss Caren at CAT CHAT told us about a blog called 365Days  of Bacon and sure enough – it’s TRUE.   Saturday is the BIG DAY!

Oh boy! Me swimming in a pool of bacon!

Oh boy! Me swimming in a pool of bacon!

I have lots of piggies as friends of course but none of them are “bacon type piggies” if you know what I mean so I’m thinking all of us should celebrate don’t you???  Anyway, thinking about that will keep me occupied today while Mom does the Monster thing………

One really funny thing Mom did since we were talking about bacon is google “funny bacon things” and there were too many to show or list here but you should try googling that and see what pops up – you might be amazed (or horrified or maybe squirt your coffee out your nose???).

I have to be careful though about being TOO excited about bacon because – well – Mom needs to be reminded that while I do adore a bit of bacon on weekends when she and my Dad have it with their breakfast, in the end she’s the most important thing to me – NOT bacon….really….honest…..I mean it!…….

I even made this poster JUST for her!

I even made this poster JUST for her!

I guess I’ll have to come up with something extra special tomorrow though since it is, after all, International Bacon Day.  Can’t let a BIG day like that go unnoticed or unrecognized now can I ?????

Doin’ Chores

Hi Everyone………….!

Today is sheet-changing day ’round my house and of course like all self-respecting dogs and cats I love to HELP my Mom with that little chore.  Oh sure…….she tries to sneak around up in her bedroom and do it all by herself but I know she needs me – so when I hear her pulling those sheets off, I’m THERE.

Whew – now that’s done – what’s next Mom?    I know – I can check to make sure things are safe outside before we go out for a walk!

All clear out front!

All clear on the side of the house.......

All clear out back!.

See Mom? I’m helping……now what else do we need to do INSIDE before we can go OUTSIDE?

Hanging out in the living room waiting for breakfast to be "announced" !

Oh yeah… my breakfast! How could I forget THAT chore????

I’m good to go now Mom….!

Mom and me – we make a great team……………..I helped out and now we’re all set to go outside and watch the sun come up……….!   Happy Thursday everybody!

Teaser Tell All

Howdy! Well, it’s not just a Teaser Tell All it’s also a Sammy Whammy update………..first things first – yesterday afternoon I got another big pile of OLD comments and OLD notifications from a lot of your bloggies so I suppose either WordPoop is catching up OR my Whammy worked!

However I also discovered yesterday morning that my bloggy isn’t being posted to Facebook which according to ME (and my dashboard) it SHOULD be doing.  SO, I’m going to do what lotsa others of you have had to do and that’s manually post it there.  Why?  Well because I have a lotsa followers there (on my Mom’s page)  THAT’s why!   Harumph!  Can you tell I’m getting a little short on patience when it comes to WP?

Next – the reason you tuned in here today – the Teaser Tell All………………..WELL – that was quite interesting because more than one of you knew precisely where my Granddad’s photo from pre- World War Two was taken!  Here it is one more time:

And the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER that this was Johanneskirche (St. John Church)  in Stuttgart, Germany  was my friend who has been hoping to win the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER for ages, Doggy from Doggy’s Style!   Woot woot!

The Much Coveted "First Right Guesser" Award....which belongs to DOGGY!

The Much Coveted “First Right Guesser” Award….which belongs to DOGGY!

But as I said, several others of you knew it was this same church OR knew it was in Germany and all of you buddies get this!

The "I Guessed RIGHT!" award......!

The “I Guessed RIGHT!” award……!

Now let me give you a bit of interesting info about this church.  First it’s a Protestant Church built in the 1800s and during World War Two it sustained some damage.  This photo that I had in the Teaser was taken BEFORE World War Two – would you like to see what it looks like today??

They decided to leave the top two sections OFF the tower on the left side of the church as a reminder of the war.   It’s still an incredibly beautiful building in a really beautiful location.  Lots of you thought like I did that it looked like a magic fairy castle…’s on a small jutting area of land on the lake so almost looks like its floating.

Tuesday Teaser

Woot Woot! It’s time again – get those eyes clear, get your “bigify” magnifying glass or computer setting ready because here we are again on a Tuesday and it’s time to try and stump up. Wanna know what I think? I think someone is gonna know this one. Yep – I do. Am I psychic? No…..I just think it PERIOD!

A quick note to my newest followers (you know who you are!) – my regular blog posts come out every day at 3AM Eastern Standard Time but Tuesday Teasers appear at 6AM Eastern Standard Time because it’s a more fair time for everyone.   At least that’s the thought behind the different time only on Tuesdays…….that’s the scoop….ONWARD

Ready? Here it comes!  Oh yeah – as if I need to tell you this but I will anyway – this is from my Grandad’s very old photo album that he had in his military trunk.  My Mom dug it out yesterday morning to look through it and found several photos for Teaser possibilities.  This one is obviously old – hopefully clear enough for you to get detail but you can bigify if you need to!

Way cool place isn’t it?  So where do you think it is?   I need to know where (city/state/country whatever) and you have all day today to agonize over it because tomorrow I’ll be handing out the goodies!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Of course as always I wish ALL of you tons of luck and NO eye strain!

See you tomorrow for the Teaser Tell All !  Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday.  We are supposed to have some rain today so of course no butterflies will be flying in the rain and yours truly won’t go outside in the rain because I don’t wanna get my furs wet!

If you'd like to display this badge on your bloggy feel free! Might as well tell the world you love TUESDAYS!!

Shazaam Monday

Hi Everybody! Well, my hope to spend the weekend observing butterflies was a bit of a bust……until I told the universe that I planned to get Mom to photograph me under the butterfly bush this weekend, we were seeing bazillions of the little boogers……at least 10-15 covering the butterfly bush every day it was sunny. Who knew that the minute I SAID that, the butterflies would abandon ship and leave the area???? That is except for ONE butterfly.  One brave butterfly (probably the same guy who visited me Saturday!), there were no herds, crowds, flocks, or bunches of butterfly visitors.  Word travels fast around here.

Birds, and bees, but only one butterfly? What's with that?????

Birds, and bees, but only one butterfly? What’s with that?????

However, I DID get a lot of out time……Mom and I were on the back deck for a couple of hours – her in the shade under the umbrella keeping an eye on me and me alternating between under her chair in the shade and out by my butterfly bush with a hopeful look on my face.  So fresh air was good and it was in the low 80s and really BEAUTIFUL.  Not a total loss, eh???

The newly discovered (after 11 years!) deck on the house

We’re sorry if we’ve missed commenting on your bloggy lately but as you know (or at least some of you said you had this problem too) good old Word-Depressed has got clogs in the mail delivery line lately so people are missing notices from blogs – it’s downright awful and if you follow a gazillion blogs (we don’t QUITE follow a gazillion but it might be a bazillion or so) it’s tough to remember to stop by all of them without those little reminders in your inbox!   I hereby cast a spell on Word-Poop…………………BEGONE CLOGGED MAILTUBES – BEGONE GREMLINS OF MAIL DELIVERY!   (gosh I hope that works and doesn’t backfire on me!!)

Hopefully my magic wand and spells are working right – otherwise it might be raining frogs here any minute…………..

I’ll let you know!   Tee Hee

Happy Shazaam Monday!

Silent Sunday

My butterfly Saturday was successful!!! Well…..sort of…..

HAPPY SILENT SUNDAY (with butterflies!)

Sammy 😀 😀

Pee Ess……..we wish my Mommy’s friend Miss Trish a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Caturdays are for…….bacon!

Caturday! WOO WOO WOOOOOOOOO! But first things first………I have to pay homage to my fabulous Mom because after all, SHE cooks the bacon I get on Caturday and Sunday!

See Mom?  You’re always #1 around here.  Or at least you’re TIED for #1 (tee hee).   Remember this poem I wrote about bacon????

So other than starting my day with bacon, today I thought I’d spend some time outside – it’s supposed to be a GORGEOUS weekend both days.  I’m gonna visit my butterfly bush spying spot and Mom’s gonna have the flashy box handy so she can take a photo of me stalking, hunting, murdulating, grabbing, clutching,  watching the butterflies!  Fun huh?

Remember I said that yesterday I’d have a ZEN kind of day and not worry about the monster coming out of the closet to clean the house?  Well I did it.  I really did it.  I ZENNED out all morning and Mom was very proud of me.  Not once did she see me peeking around a corner with wide eyes at the MACHINE, nor did she see me at the top of the stairs stalking the MACHINE from above….in fact, I napped right though it I was so ZEN-ified!  Just proves I am capable of being a calm, cool, and collected cat.  Who knew?????

Ahh....this spot will be sunny for AT LEAST another hour!

Gettin’ my ZEN on !!

I’ll be back tomorrow to let you know (and hopefully show proof) about my butterfly experiences today.  Like I said, we’re “locked and loaded” with the flashy box so who knows……as long as Mr. Weatherman cooperates and our “Yard Cat” Stevie doesn’t show up to try and pick a fight, I’m good.  I’m more than good.  I’m READY!

You stay on YOUR side of the yard Stevie and I'll stay on MINE!

You stay on YOUR side of the yard Stevie and I’ll stay on MINE!

I hope bacon (or your favorite treat of choice anyway) is on your breakfast menu this morning too!!

Mellow Monster Day

What??? MELLOW Monster Day? What the heck is that anyway??!! I’m always complaining about Friday when the vacuum cleaner makes an appearance so why “mellow” ??? Well, because I’ve decided not to let that monster or anything get to me today. It’s Friday and the end of the week and I’m in a good mood so let the monster do its’ dastardly deed – I’ll just watch it calmly and wait for it to disappear into the closet again for another week. Period. No fuss – no muss! Part of my decision to become more ZEN……more RELAXED (although my Mom says with all the naps I take I couldn’t possibly be more relaxed!).

Mom did a new poster for me yesterday – just playing around with OTHER things on Pizap than the usual stuff. Whatcha think of THIS???? Rather spacey huh? Artsy? ZEN-ish???   I like all the twinkly stars and bluish/purplish colors…..

We don’t know if any of you have had a problem the last couple of days with WordPress (or Word-Depressed as Mom calls it sometimes) because we haven’t gotten email notifications when YOU post your new BLOGS!!  Nope – they’ve been letting us down.  WELL, yesterday afternoon Mom went online to check OUR email and there were a bazillion-quadrillion emails there including notices about your posts for the past three days!  I guess whatever was plugging up the hole in the mail chute at Word-Depressed got fixed!  Hopefully we’re all caught up now.  If you thought we’d fallen off the edge of the world, we hadn’t…….we just didn’t know you’d been posting a new blog!    I hope it stays fixed but you know, cyberspace is a weird place where ANYTHING can happen…….. 😀

Yesterday Mr. Mailman brought a package to our house and Mom and I were SO EXCITED because it came from Miss Stella and Mollie!  There’s always something fabulous in those packages and Mom had ordered some really cool stuff lately SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we ripped open the package and here’s what we found!

AREN’T THESE ADORABLE??????  You can stick these little creatures in your houseplant pots OR even outdoor window boxes – they are so adorable and

make me smile whenever I see them…….and I LOVE to smile!!  You will too – and everyone who sees them will want some too – you can order them from Mollie’s shop!

Hope you have a wonderful Friday – make it Zen-like…..quiet……reflective…..full of naps if possible…..

Take It Slow Thursday

Hi All !

Seems like a busy past few days – I’ve needed to nap more than usual but you know how I love my naps right? Any excuse for one – that’s ME alright!

Snoozing on the stairs

See? Taking things nice and SLOW!

Sometimes I break up the napping ritual to go outside and visit the garden……especially Mom’s buddleia (aka butterfly bush) with the big purple flowers on it. Yesterday afternoon there were TEN of them on the plant – yellow and black swallowtail butterflies and one painted lady. I only know the names of the butterflies because of my little neighbor buddies who live next door. They are SO smart about stuff even though they’re only 6 and 8. They know EVERYTHING. Just about.

Here’s one of my official butterfly experts!

Anyway, I sit under the bush and just watch the butterflies – although there was a time when I’d leap up and try to grab one in both paws……and once in a while I DO catch one but I let it go right away….I’m just making sure I don’t lose my touch!!! I guess you could say I practice “catch and release”…..HAHAHAHAHA Mom was too lazy to go out and take a photo of me under the bush yesterday but this is me watching butterflies in my garden a few years back – – can you see me? I’ve shown you this photo before and you have to look pretty darn hard to see me!!!!

Test your eyes! Look carefully - I'm there!

Look real hard and you’ll see me sniffing the flowers!

Yesterday I screamed on the stairs long and hard until my Dad came down to play with one of my wand toys that just happened to be lying on the stairs (thanks to me dragging it up there) waiting for a human being to pick it up and tease me with it.  Mom kept trying to capture me on film so of course I look like I could care LESS about the toy but really I had a fantastic time playing with Dad.  It’s a wand with a looooooooooooooong piece of fleece attached to it and it’s great.  I love it.

SamandDadStairs1 SamandDadStairs2

The only other big thing that happened yesterday is Mom made a cheesecake (yes Easy – a CHEESECAKE!).  I got to lick the spoon!  WOO HOO!  Today I’m hoping to have a tiny bit of it for breakfast……a guy can always hope right?

Happy Thursday – Take it SLOW – like me!!
