Wanna See My Kingdom?

Standard

Well OF COURSE you do!  Tee Hee………my kingdom is my yard (at least when I’m outside).  So yesterday I told Mom in no uncertain terms that she needed to go outside with the flashy box thingie and take some photos of our Spring-ish yard.  After all, all this pretty stuff is too nice to keep to ourselves.  Spring is pretty everywhere really but somehow when your very own yard can be pretty – well – it’s just plain SPECIAL isn’t it?

So, now you see why I bug Mom at least three times every day to pretty please take me outside…………I love lying on the front porch or the back deck or even in the grass in the yard.  Just soaking up the sun and sitting with Mom.  Sometimes she’ll take a blanket out and we just sit together on that and watch the birds in the trees……..it’s yummy when it’s nice out like it has been the last few days.  Spring took its good old time getting here this year but I think (knock on wood) it has made it.

I want to remind you peeps that the deadline for PJ pix is sneaking up……….remember though that you don’t have to enter THAT to come to the pawty!  Everybody’s invited – Mom’s been working on making catering arrangements so you can expect the usual food fest.  I’m also lining up some great videos for us to watch – what’s a slumber pawty without movies right?

My Second Blogaversary Slumber Pawty – May 10th !

SamJammies

So far we’ve got eleven entries in the “Best PJs” contest……………competition is gonna be fierce for sure……………and remember that YOU will be voting – not me!  We’ll probably start the voting on May 9th and go for two days – then on May 11th I’ll announce the winners for ALL the contests – how’s that sound????   Then prizes WILL be sent out to all the lucky pawty-goers who win.

We’re all happy that Nissy did well with his knee surgery………..being at the vet isn’t fun but being at the vet and having an operation is DOUBLE not fun.  Nissy is one brave dude though.  I made this card for him and sent it to his Mom but just in case it doesn’t make it there – I’ll post it here and since he has his laptop with him perhaps he’ll see it!!!

NissyGetWell

Now, promise me you’ll have a super fabulous Friday………..OK?  Is it a deal?   Good!

    • Hi Mr. Bowie and Herman…..I do love my yard…..right now it’s just about perfect too – not hot yet and just a hint of chill in the air. I love being out there and just sitting in the sun. Sigh.

  1. We have a big yard out back but it is just a hideous, dried up mess! I wish it looked as pretty as your yard, Sammy!

    • Hi Sparkle……actually ours was a fairly hideous mess until a couple of weeks ago when things FINALLY started greening up! Hopefully yours will too – there’s ALWAYS hope!

    • Hi Sundae! Loved your blog this morning – it’s about time your Mom concentrate on YOU YOU YOU instead of all those other animals she visits all the time! Harumph! Yes I do have a nice kingdom don’t I? Every lion should be in charge of his domain and I am certainly in charge of mine! (well….sort of). HAPPY FRIDAY!

  3. Yes Spring has done it right in your bit of country Sammy! It looks beautiful!! Your Mom has done lots of planting. I think I will pot a couple of ferns this year and call it done. Last year the deer and squirrels ate and dug up every ding dang thing I put in a pot! Stinkers!!! 😮

    Like

    • Hi Miss Pix! The deer don’t come up on the porch or the deck so potted stuff is SAFE in my yard but not everything else! The deer eat EVERYTHING and that’s even if we use “Liquid Fence” which supposedly is to keep WABBITS and deer AWAY! Oh well…..I’m glad you liked the photos – this is the BEST time of year because things are nice and green and they haven’t baked up in the sun which they will in summer.

    • Hi Cody! My Mom would love for you and your Mom to visit……we do have a nice house up on our little hill with all the birds and squirrels and stuff……..Mom and Dad want to sell this house and move to a community that’s only about a mile away and I would miss this yard BUT they promised me a screened porch and I do think THAT would be nice too! I’m glad you enjoyed the pix!

  7. Wow – that’s much better than the back yard they have in Versailles… and your bleeding heart is already flowering? ours has only some small leaves…Wish I had such a green thumb too… sadly I haven’t thumbs…maybe that’s the reason why my backyard looks like an nuclear test site… Have a flowering friday :o)

    Like

    • Hi Easy! The bleeding hearts have been flowering for a couple of weeks already…..I love those because of the little hearts. Way cool huh? Yours is just taking its time blooming – PATIENCE! I’ve seen lots of pictures of your back yard and it looks QUITE nice and not at all like a nuclear test site. You work hard to keep it well watered (haha) and after all, it’s still EARLY for everything to be flowering there. Your Mom has a great green thumb for houseplants because we’ve seen lots of those – and I bet soon your back yard will be beautiful too. As for having thumbs – I have thumbs as you know and believe me, it’s not all that fabulous. It means I have ANOTHER claw nail that has to be trimmed than other cats on each paw for one thing (YUCK), and about the only really HANDY thing about it is that when I scoop water out of my water bowl to drink, my paw makes a better “cup” than kitties who don’t have thumbs can make!

      Happy Flowering Friday Easy!!

      • I love the bleeding hearts too, they come from an enchanted kingdom, I’ll bet. The green thumb-girl is my granny. Fortunately she visits my crib always timely for opening an ER for the green guys… she always starts the resuscitation immediately after entering my crib and is searching for some “scrubs” – that’s the moment when we all turn tail and run…

        • HA! Well at least you have a “visiting emergency room technician” who can save all the greenery from turning into brownery/deadery!!! 😀 My Mom used to have lots of houseplants but my Dad didn’t like so many and when we moved here Mom put all her effort into OUTSIDE planting. I’m glad your Granny likes rescuing the suffering plants though – I bet the plants look forward to her visits! 😀 I think you’re right about those little bleeding heart thingies – I’m sure they’re either from some enchanted kingdom or maybe another planet. They’re too adorable for words! My favorite is pink but the white ones are pretty too.

  8. So, I know I once offered half of what you paid for that house, but seeing those pictures I think my offer was ridiculous and offensive and for that I apologize.
My new offer is half of what you paid, plus half bag of candy corn (you know how precious candy corn is for me) and I’ll let you come back and visit the yard and even catch bugs and mice.
Think it over and let me know.

    Like

    • Gosh…..that’s an offer that’s hard to refuse…….bugs and mice???? Wow……That’s like having “meals on wheels”…..I’ll see if my Mom will go for it. I’m ready to sign on the dotted line but she and Dad are the money-grubbing humans in the deal after all. They seem to think they should MAKE money off the sale of this house – can you imagine????!!!!!! As for candy corn, Mom says she thinks it may be time to send you another care package ANYWAY! Tee Hee.

I love all the nature around your home too. Lots of trees for the birds and neighbours not too close. Mum and Dad had made it so pretty. I also love all the cute cartoons you make for your post, so fun. Have a great weekend!

    • Thanks for the compliments on the yard! Mom originally did a lot of research on plants when she and my Dad built this house 18 years ago….and I think maybe (!) if she had more time to devote to taking care of all the plants we might have better luck…..but mostly the fact that it’s almost two acres and the gardens are spread around the property – and there’s no really efficient way to water – is one of the biggest problems. However, Mom and Dad are wanting to move to a smaller house in a development where the yards are maintained FOR them – so Mom’s garden will be a lot easier to care for because it will be on a sun porch and out on a deck!! 😀 😀 😀
