Furrrrsday

Standard

Yep – it’s Furrrrrsday…..the day before Furrrrriday.  Since my Mom and Dad trimmed my nails for me yesterday I thought the least I could do was to continue doing some more “groom and clean” stuff.  Got to keep the Furrrrr lookin’ good right?   Mom was kind enough to help a bit:

Sam Enjoying Being Brushed

Just a little to the left Mom….yep – that’s the spot!!

Of course I did manage to do a bit of napping during the day as well.  A day without a nap or two or three or more is certainly NOT a “typical” day for any self-respecting cat.

Sam Keeping Warm in a Blanket

All that body maintenance has me pooped!

Dad is planning on flying his plane this morning – as soon as the sky starts to get light he’ll be out of here and heading thirty minutes away from our house to Culpeper, Virginia where his “baby” lives in a hangar at the Regional Airport.  That means Mom will probably head out the door as soon as the shops open.   Do they have Christmas stuff out in the stores where you live?  They sure do here – and we haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet!   I don’t think Mom is buying any Christmas stuff – you might remember that my parents got a new FAKE Christmas tree last year to replace the rather sorry spectacle of a tree they’d had for over 20 years.  This one’s a real beauty though – this photo is from last year:

Lit Christmas Tree 2011

It’s one of those trees that comes with lights already on it so it’s a lot less work for my “tree decorating crew” !!

I also know that not everybody celebrates Christmas but in my house we do and my Mom can sometimes get carried away.  Moms seem to do that about some things —– have you noticed that in your house???   Or maybe in YOUR house it’s your Dad who gets carried away……??    Come on – tell Sammy your troubles – what does your Mom or Dad do that you think is just a LITTLE BIT nuts???!!!

HAPPY FURRRRRSDAY!   😀 😀 😀

    • Hi Mollie! Fake trees are pretty I think….ours has lotsa lights on it when it comes out of the box so Mom doesn’t have to say a lot of naughty words while trying to string the lights on it like she did with the OLD one. You have a great day too!!

  1. We have a fake tree too, called “Ugly Jim” and we celebrate christmas every year with a different motto (american, swedish, caribbean etc.) with special decorations, foods, x-mas-traditions and gifts :o)

      • It’s gonna be really interesting, I couldn’t pick a favorite.
It would be so nice to have someone illustrate the winning story.
Ha! Pam, you are a genius, all putting great ideas in my head. I gotta look for someone, a kid to illustrate the story.
It’d be interesting trying to explain a kid what a vamp is.

    • Hi Misaki! Oh you’re gonna LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Christmas! Real trees are pretty but they make a big mess when they start losing their needles (ouch) – the fake ones are really beautiful though and I think you’ll enjoy it especially when it’s all decorated. You have to resist the temptation to bat the ornaments though – you might get in trouble! I like to just lie on the rug in front of the tree or even UNDER the tree and just enjoy the ambiance (my new word).

p.s. My Mom read that story too – that may explain why we have a fake tree too!

Cute picture of you all cuddled up in your blankie, though!
    Happy Furrsday!

    • Hi Sundae….you’re right of course about humans – they are a rather peculiar lot to be sure. I guess we have to be patient with them though – after all – they’re only human! 😉

    • HA! No problem Doggy – Mom gets a ton of hair off my brush after a good grooming session and I bet all your other friends can pitch in and we’ll have enough for some nice warm COATS and COMFORTERS – for you AND for Leo!

  3. I used to celebrate Christmas with decorations & gifts but now I’m all alone and can’t afford gifts. I still celebrate the birth of Christ but all the manmade holiday trimmings are things of the past.

  4. Your Christmas tree picture is the first one I’ve seen this season! How beautiful! It looks so cozy and warm in your house. I love the way your peeps decorate for every season and holiday!
And we are super impressed that you allow your peeps to clip your nails. We have to be taken to the groomer’s and we make them work for the money our peeps pay them!

    • Hi Miss Trish! I’m actually so darn used to the nail clip thing after almost 13 years I practically get sleepy while Dad’s holding me and Mom’s clipping away! She’s fast too…..I bet doggy nails are a bit tougher to cut anyway than kitty ones……besides, your dogs like to go to the groomers right? I hate being in the car so they wouldn’t have an easy time of it if they had to take me somewhere for nail clipping (or ANYTHING!!). We love our new tree – – – I guess after turkey day we’ll be getting it set up! YAY!!!

  5. I don’t think my peeps get carried away enough! I’m sure that that peep #1 has more elfin’ work to do. I’ll blog ’bout it one day very soon. Perhaps when I see her putting a little more effort into her elfin’ duties. So far… all I know ’bout are the mice she used to make the Bring on the Nip! award but that only accounts for one mouse per cat! She needs to get elfin!

    • Oh Nissy I bet there’s a LOT of activity around your house when the holiday comes to town! Do each of you have a stocking to hang for prezzies? Come to think of it, there would be a LOT of socks wouldn’t it?! I’m thinking your peep will be starting with the elfin’ in high gear soon – the holiday is sneaking up WAY fast!!

  6. When your mom brushes you, don’t you tuck your ears back for aerodynamic efficiency and zoom all over the house like a rocket? That’s what I do. Mom wants to return the brush to the store and get her money back. I LOVE Christmas. There can never be too much Christmas!! That’s impossible.

    • Hi Cupcake! I do put my ears back and down a bit so Mom has a better surface on TOP of my noggin to brush but zooming – not until I’ve had enough brushing! Brushing puts me to sleep….but I usually feel pretty darn perky when I wake up. Zooming and Christmas and presents and food and FUN – I’m with you Cupcake – there’s no such thng as TOO MUCH Christmas!

    • Nellie my Mom said she’d LOVE to brush you and my Mom’s a very good brusher too! I think it was a bit rude for Kozmo to sneak in ahead of you after you’d been patiently waiting though….you tell him for me that I’m a bit disappointed in my FEARLESS FBI LEADER will you??? You’re welcome any time to visit for a brush or a cuddle or a snooze Nellie – ANY time! 😉

  8. It has been a while since my human has decorated for Christmas – I think she has only done it once since we’ve lived here! Maybe she will this year. Oddly enough, considering our personalities, none of us kitties have ever created (too much) havoc with the tree.

    • Good for you Sparkle! It’s nice to just WATCH the tree or lie under it rather than climb through it like some cats I know tend to do…..My Dad used to set up a train on a track under the tree that ran through all the presents in a big circle and made a “woo woo” sound as it went around. Even though it was a little noisy I used to sit and watch it do its’ thing. I have only removed bows from presents a couple of times – hey – they were IRRESISTIBLE! Now I’m older I mostly LOOK and don’t TOUCH!

  9. Mom’s first husband was Catholic. Mom used to go waaaaaaaaaaaaaay overboard decorating! She loved it! Many of Mom’s friends said she had more decorations than they did! She used to put up a tree which she said my grandpa Bobo used to use as a pinata! MOL!
Mom’s dear friend has one of those trees that you have with the lights already on them. It is “easy-peasy!!”
Mom visits her house at Christmas cause since Mom is Jewish and Dad is too she can’t have a tree…sooooo she goes to her friend’s house to see decorations, eat cookies and stare at her gorgeous tree!
    ((((hugs)))

    • Oh Cody I think that’s a great idea for your Mom to have the best of both worlds with Chanukah and Christmas. There’s something about a Christmas tree isn’t there – although I guess you’ve never had one of your own. I love to lie UNDER the tree and get rather disturbed when Mom sticks a bunch of presents under there and uses up my SPACE. She’s learned to leave the back part under the tree open so I can snuggle up to the tree among the presents and enjoy the lights on my own in private! HAHAHAHA

  10. We love the flying idea! Our mommy dreamt she was flying some friends last night and woke up wanting to go do what your dad’s doing today! MOL! What do our humans do that make us crazypants? hrm…Thanksgiving’s pretty big here, as is passover. Whew! She cleans like a madwoman and breaks out the silver & crystal & stuff!

    • Hy Dad had a great morning flying around – it’s overcast but there’s no wind. He said it was perfect “up there”….Mom went out shopping as planned and I did the nap thing. What is it with humans and this “holiday mania” anyway? My Mom’s cleaning silver and crystal and we aren’t even having COMPANY for the holidays! I hope your Mom gets to take the plane up for a bump around the sky – once they get THAT IDEA, they’re hard to live with til they’ve done it! 😉

I’m also glad you think my Christmas tree is pretty – I can’t WAIT for my parents to put the tree up – – – I think after Thanksgiving they’ll be doing that and I can start napping UNDER the tree.
