Sam-O-Ween Is Over…..

Standard

Hi Friends!  I guess you see I’m back to my old theme – “Monster” was fun for Halloween though and I may “change up” from time to time with other themes just to keep you on your toes (tee hee).

Hope you all had as much fun on Halloween as WE did!  We had lots of kiddies stop by for treats – fortunately NO tricks – everybody looked cute as could be in their costumes and it was a nice quiet (but COLD) night.

Mom made me look pretty disgusting didn’t she?!?!

In the afternoon after Dad finished my pumpkin, Mom decorated the porch and put my Sam-O-Ween pumpkin in place then took a few photos.  The night-time ones are the BEST though because then you can REALLY see how cool the house looked for the kids coming up our driveway (at least you COULD have seen it if Mom’s photos weren’t so blurry!)!

Our front porch….that’s our “yard cat” Stevie on the left pretending to be a Halloween decoration….

How do you like the Sam Pumpkin my Dad carved? This is the BESTEST one ever!

After nightfall, things got SPOOKIER!

Blurry but pretty neat with the candle huh? Mom couldn’t hold the camera still enough with the flash off!

Those are two big pumpkin posters in the windows – as it got darker the dining room light made them very bright – they were way cool!

Boy is this hard to see but it’s at the bottom of the driveway looking up at the house and you can BARELY see a couple of the pumpkins covering the driveway lights….but there were a total of four along the whole thing.

Thanks to everyone who had fun through Halloween with contests, costumes, fun blogs, useful information about safety for Halloween and pets, and oh so many other GREAT blogs.  I had such a great time and I hope you did too.

Hope you all have a RESTFUL and quiet Thursday.  Me?  You know as well as I do by now what I’ll be doing………

Sam With Tootsie Roll Pop

Resting up and eating my Halloween candy (just kidding about the candy – serious about the resting though!!)

    • Thanks Herman….my husband did a bang-up job on the annual cat pumpkin didn’t he? Perhaps you should undertake the adventure of carving a special pumpkin NEXT Halloween for you and Bowie to enjoy! His adorable face would look spooktacular on a pumpkin……… 😀

    • Oh dearie me…no trick or treaters huh? Well, we didn’t have as many as we USUALLy get so I think my Mom was well-pleased that when she bought treats she bought stuff SHE liked. Pretty sneaky huh? Glad you liked my kitty pumpkin – Dad did a bang-up job didn’t he?

    • Hi Sundae! I’m glad you like my Sammy Pumpkin – Dad did a great job with it didn’t he? He even gave me FANGS this year for the first time – the little kiddies that came to the door loved the pumpkin more than the treats I think. I’ll be resting up today you can believe it….we may have some sun too which would be nice. Hope you enjoy your day in the window seat!

  3. The Sam Pumpkin is very cute Sammy! I love seeing Stevie on the porch, guess Stevie couldn’t pass up the festive porch or was lookin’ for treats. I gotta tell you that Halloween picture of you is scary!! I like you better as your sweet, unbloody ginger self.. 🙂 But it sure was a good and scary transformation. I like the little bats too! Nap like a cat, I will be following your example today maybe 🙂

    • I’ve been catching up ALL DAY LONG Miss Pix. My parents went off to the airport this morning to clean up the hangar after Sandy blew through so the house was NICE AND NAPPILY QUIET! Glad you liked my pumpkin Dad did….Stevie seemed to enjoy watching my Mom decorate the porch but she left well before nightfall. Not before she got a treat though!

        • Hi Miss Pix…..things were in good shape at the airport although Mom and Dad had a lot of straightening up to do. Dad said he was glad his plane was INSIDE the hangar though – those who were OUTSIDE had to be pretty worried with all that debris flying around in the wind!

p.s. I STILL think that pumpkin your Dad did was a MASTERPIECE!

      Like

      • Thanks, Sammy. If we would consider that it was a dumpkin, think we could give him a C… or a C-. The real story about the Samhain is scary, isn’t it? I think you aren’t fat – hope you have not to bear a diet – that’s hell :o)

        • Hi Easy…actually, my vet says that I’m “just right” for my frame (FRAME??? I’m in a FRAME???). Yes the Samhaim story is scary…but you’re right that it’s PERFECT for Halloween telling isn’t it? Well, I still think your Dad deserves better than a C for that beauty he whacked up!

  4. That’s just about the best pumpkin I ever did see! Your dad must be a master carver or something. He’s fantastic at pumpkin carving! You’re a super-duper lucky cat, Sammy. Wish my peep could do stuff like that but there really is not hope for her. She’s not handy with stuff like that. If she tried, the result would probably look like she had carved it with her feet or something! purrs

    • Gee….that would probably be a VERY interesting (or scary…or even BLOODY) pumpkin if she carved it with her feet !!!! I agree with you though that my Dad is THE BEST when it comes to carving. My Mom drew the outlines on the pumpkin with a pen and he used a paring knife to cut the stuff out. The ears were the biggest challenge but they turned out great too.

Hope you had a good Halloween Nissy!

    • Glad you like the pumpkin……it’s the best one I’ve ever had! I don’t blame you for not wanting to share your candy with the kiddies – if Mom had been handing out Temptations Cat Treats I would have been upset too but human candy – I can’t eat it anyway so it was OK for her to give THAT away.

Me and Koz hid under the bed, but then me gots in the window to look and me wanted to come out and meet the kids, so me yelled! Daddy let me out and me sat on the back of the sofa and watched the fun!

    • Good for you brave Nellie! I peeked once (that Mom saw) around the corner from the basement steps but it was too scary for me. I stayed hidden away until the doorbell stopped. So you got LOTS of little gremlins at your house huh? Neato! I’m glad you liked my pumpkin – my Dad can do magic with a knife huh? (gee – that sounds SCARY!).

We didn’t get any kids yesterday. My human was a bit sad that she had all those treats waiting for nothing. I was sad all those treats weren’t Greenies! We did get some though.
    Have a great day, Sammy!

  7. Wow, Sammy, we LOVE your Sammy Pumpkin!!! It looks especially cool all lit up. Your peeps sure are talented. Thanks for sharing the photos of the front porch, too. Your momma peep always does such a fabulous job of decorating for every season and every holiday! Two of us stayed hidden during the trick-or-treating and two others barked their heads off the whole time! Lots of love from Mattie the foxhound, Simone the collie, Lucy & Eddie the JR’s. And their Peep.

    • Hi Terrell Gang! Yes that pumpkin of mine this year was a real “beauty” wasn’t it? Dad gets an A+ on carving. I mostly hid out in the basement until the doorbell ringing stopped for the night then I came up to see if there was any candy left (hahahahaha).

  8. I love your Halloween decorations, Sammy! The humans here did NOTHING! And they do have Halloween decorations hidden away somewhere. I guess they were too busy – one has a conference (the Cat Writers Conference!) and the other one is writing songs for two records!

    Like

    • Well Sparkle, it sounds like your humans WERE busy with other things so they should be cut some slack right? Maybe NEXT Halloween they will have found the decorations that are hidden away and decide to decorate – I’ll probably have another pumpkin contest next year – they’ve got a WHOLE YEAR to decide what to do to the pumpkin so start bugging them NOW!

  9. Maxwell: Sammy DOOD. The humans barely made it home to hand out candies. We gotted about 30 little munchkins and stuff. And I kept my nose to the door and even managed to ESCAPE into the DARKNESSS for 45 whole seconds! SCORE! That was my spooky prank this Halloween. I skeered Mom right good, I did!

    • Oh Maxwell, you brave boy you! I was too nervous to try an escape – besides, those little monsters at the door freaked me out too much for me to even TRY to get by them much less LOOK at them! I know – I’m such a wienie aren’t I?! Sounds like you got a nice crowd of candy-munchers though.
